Changelog for Update 55

Milloween Gameplay Rework
Milloween’s ability set has changed to the following
  • Arcane Sparks basic attack
    • Damage per spark reduced from 10 to 8.
  • Perk 1
    • Changed to Arcane Golem
    • Arcane Golem stats rescaled
      • Health: 300 + 30 per level.
      • Damage 40 + 5 per level.
      • Capped at level 10.
  • Perk 2
    • Changed to Arcane Missiles
    • Arcane Missiles rescaled
      • Mana cost down from 1 to 0.
      • Damage reduced from 40 to 30 per missile.
  • Perk 3
    • New Perk: Xanian Construct
      • Arcane Golem now spawns as level 5.
--- Developer comments ---
Milloween has been rather underused, especially at higher levels.
Her dependence on the Arcane Golem made her gameplay a challenge of trying to get to Perk 2, and then using it to come back into the game. If you included a lot of spells, you synergized with the Golem, but had a weaker early game.
Additionally there was an issue of the Arcane Golem getting out of hand once she finally got the advantage, and it felt impossible to deal with in some situations.

This rework aims to give Milloween her Master-defining perk earlier, so you actually get to play her more of the time.
At the same time, the Arcane Golem is stronger in itself, grows less with Spells and has a cap, which all contributes to her not needing pure spells in the deck to gain the maximum value from the Golem.
While we still want her to be a very spell-focused Master, overdoing it created a number of issues so we wanted to scale it back a bit.
Giving her the Golem early made for a rather strong early game though, which meant we wanted to scale a little back on the late-game perks and her ability to defend herself.
Providing the Golem with extra levels in the late-game makes it even more valuable in itself, but also allows her more freedom in deckbuilding as, combined with the cap, she doesn’t rely on cycling a dozen spells before its full potential is reached.

We’re excited to see what you make of the new Milloween and are eagerly awaiting feedback once you’ve tried her out :)

  • Ghost Turret Range decreased from 8 to 6.
    --- Developer comments ---
The Ghost turret has become increasingly popular in decks that seek to stall out the game with an ending win condition such as Demon Warrior or Mana Frenzy. While we’d like to keep it relevant, we felt the cheap cycling and powerful trading made the turret too good at defending and even holding bridges when combined with other cheap cards.
At the same time, the opponent couldn’t deal with it very well, and it didn’t present much of an interesting challenge.
Reducing the range opens up a host of counters to the card, and reduces the ability for the Ghost turret to project your presence outside your own arena. It still trades rather efficiently with a number of units, but it requires some placement skill to gain the full value out of it.

  • Black Hole Mana cost up from 2 to 3
    --- Developer comments ---
Black hole is a fun and exciting card, but it was often a little too swingy for what we wanted. That it can completely counter a spell is okay, but when that counter also gave you a massive mana advantage (e.g. 4 mana vs beam of doom) it became a must have in many situations.
This change, combined with the beam change below aims to still leave black hole as an interesting spell counter, but not be a complete shutdown that gives a massive advantage to whoever is playing it.

  • Beam of Doom
    • Damage down from 400 to 300 - still double to minions.
    • Delay reduced from 1.5 sec to 0.7 sec
    • Duration increased from 2 sec to 2.8 sec
    --- Developer comments ---
Overall: Beam deals damage earlier but lasts the same total amount of time.
Beam of Doom has been popular for ending matches once the opponent was at half health or less, and we feel it was simply too efficient for dealing damage to the enemy Master with the versatility the spell provides.
At the same time, it was very much a coin flip playing some big units because if the opponent had a Beam of Doom, your minion died immediately, unless you had black hole.
The changes make Beam more dependable by delivering the damage faster. However, this comes at a cost in the exact effectiveness of damage, as it no longer can immediately kill big units.

Minion Masters Card Design Contest

Minion Masters!

Winter time means gifts for Masters. Christmas is known for many gifts and some of them can be found in the Eternal Woods and the Cursed Valley. Until Friday, December 8th at 10am CET, you’ll be able to find the Magma Cannon. After that, someone special joins the frontiers of the Expeditions and is waiting for your arrival. The Frostival has just begun!

Other gifts are more special. Many Masters were creative lately and thought about additions to their armies. After two weeks of submitting your card ideas, an additional week for the first voting stage and another 5 days for the final voting stage we finally have the one card that might change everything! Or not… Anyway, the Minion Masters Card Design Contest in cooperation with Zgriptor comes to an end!

We analysed every single vote and after deleting invalid votes, the results are:
  • 2nd place goes to Krowleone and his Elite Dragon
  • 3rd place goes to The_Dovahnation and his Ranger
  • 4th place is tied between Zgriptor and his Plasma Sniper & The_Dovahnation and his Shadow Dragon
  • 5th place is tied between StevenEven and his Necromancer & dragtom and his Webcaster Tarantula
  • 6th place goes to Ciunay_Ragathol and his Harpy
  • 7th place goes to Ciunay_Ragathol and his Tree of the Life
And the 1st place?

We’re proud to present PedroEX, submitter of the card idea Incubus. Your Succubi will be glad that a male joins their roster. Do you remember, when you felt like your ranged Minions are safe? Well, that might change, since the Incubus looks much like a Succubus, but wielding a flaming sword and blinks to any ranged Minion that damages him. He's not the greatest melee fighter, but he brings 50 damage per swing to the battlefield.

PedroEX had the most wanted card idea out of 210 submissions total. Thanks for everyone submitting and voting as well as to Zgriptor, for supporting this contest from the beginning to the end. We’re proud to work with such an amazing community!

Here’s the winning card idea:

Please note, that the card is NOT final and will come to the developers’ desks now. BetaDwarf has the final say on all submissions and presented stats, mechanics, descriptions and designs are subject to change.

We want to thank each and everyone participating by submitting, voting, supporting or giving feedback and suggestions again!

Cheers from BetaDwarf

2 vs 2 Beta!

The Team Battle mode has been added to the game!
In 2 vs 2, you can play with friends or strangers and finally try out that ridiculous combo you came up with but needed 16 cards to make work.

There are now three ladders:

See the full update here

  • "It’s pretty fun. Ultimately it’s a pretty damn good version of the Clash Royale model."
  • "Is this by those Forced Showdown guys?! Is this the greatest game of all time?"
  • "Pick Up and Play PvP at its finest"
  • "If you’re familiar with things like Nexus Wars and Castle Attack, or just Clash Royale, you’re immediately gonna be able to pick this game up very very quickly. Obviously there is quite a lot of learning involved with the different troop types and cards available. But it's really slick. It’s plays really really well. It’s a good version of that game type, for PC."
