Honestly, pirate this game. It's not worth the price because of UPlay. Uplay is probably the ♥♥♥♥♥iest thing I can think of on a computer. It barely works and when it does work, it hogs resources and makes games lag when they shouldn't lag (not sure if that's true for other machines but that's what happens on mine). Also, DRM on this, and many other UPlay titles, is absolutely insane. I installed this on a different machine a few years ago. Now that I got a new computer, I passed that machine to my siblings. Wanted to play this game but that silly little DRM called SolidShield says I'm not playing on the original computer and refuses to start the game.
Rest assured the game itself is fun and beautiful. I only have 6 hours played because of the problem listed above. Ultimately, I have almost 80 other games in my library all of which work flawlessly, so I decided to just move on and leave the game and it's design team in the dust. I will be looking out for Ubisoft, BlueByte, and Related Designs in the future. Even if their future games win every award known to man, I will still be avoiding them like the plague. Good job guys!
EDIT: Since I have written this review, I have been able to get shitplay to work. I do enjoy the game and even though it is now working, I am not recommending it for purchase. The anti-piracy software is absolutely NOT suited for video games. Not to mention all the extra work I had to do to track down a solution for shitplay and then go through all the steps of said solution. If the game is ever on sale for less than $.99 then go for it because it is a fun game. Just make sure you aren't going to be upgrading your equipment for a loooong time or you'll have to use one of those 3 installs they give you.
Yes that does say $.99. It is by no means worth any more than that.
Also, to get shitplay to work, these steps worked for me:
1. uninstall all ♥♥♥♥♥oft (ubisoft) products
2. navigate to your install directory where programs would install to. Mine was the default path C;\Program Files x86\ If you have changed your path or install programs in different spots then you got some searchin to do
3. completely delete the ♥♥♥♥♥oft (ubisoft) folder from the install path. Mine was C:\Program Files x86\Ubisoft <---- delete that folder
4. restart your computer
5. navigate to the shitplay official website and download the program from there
6. Install shitplay
8. launch anno 2070
It worked for me without the need to restart my computer but it never hurts. I'm just impatient.
