Need for Speed Hot Pursuit launches you into a new open-world landscape behind the wheel of the world's fastest and most beautiful cars. From Criterion, the award-winning studio behind the Burnout series, Hot Pursuit will redefine racing games for a whole new generation.

You'll experience stunning speeds, takedowns, and getaways as you battle your friends in the most connected Need for Speed game ever. Through Need for Speed Autolog and its innovative approach to connected social competition, your Hot Pursuit experience will extend beyond the console onto the web, constantly moving your gameplay in new and unique directions.

Loaded with action, this game will challenge you to become Seacrest County's top cop or most wanted racer. For the first time ever in a Need for Speed game, you'll be able to play a full career on either side of the law. Whether you're a lead-foot speeder or a cop with a mean streak, make sure your aviators are spotless and your driving record is anything but.

Key Features

  • Career – For the first time in Need For Speed history play full careers as both cops and racers. Whether playing online with friends, taking on friends challenges or the single player career, players will earn bounty that levels them up and unlocks new cars, weapons and equipment.
  • Need For Speed™ Autolog – In Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, your friends drive your gameplay experience. Autolog is a system that links friends directly to each other’s games, enabling them to compare and share all their experiences, pictures and challenges. Autolog instinctively delivers challenges based on what your friends have been doing, creating a hugely dynamic, socially competitive experience.
  • Cars –In Hot Pursuit, the cars go from hot to hotter. Experience the thrill of driving the world’s most desirable high performance cars at incredible speeds. Feel the power of busting suspects in supercharged cop interceptors like the Lamborghini Reventon or outsmarting the law as a racer in high performance supercars like the Pagani Zonda Cinque.
  • Weapons and equipment – Take down suspects with a variety of cop weapons like spike strips and call in extra support including road blocks as the chase intensifies. Racers have a range of evasion equipment at their disposal to outsmart the cops including jammers that block cop communications and jam their weapons.
  • Seacrest County – Explore a world inspired by the California coastline with desert, forest, seaside and mountainous regions. The open world of Seacrest County helps deliver the most intense cop pursuit moments ever.

NFS HP. it looks good. it feels good. the default keybindings are a litle jank but a couple minutes of customization or a wireless controller fixes that. thats not why this is getting a big fat thumbs down though. this game is buggy. i mean realy buggy. my pc is well above specs and it didn't help.
any time it tries to connect to its online AutoLog it freezes. any time theres too much traffic it slows to a crawl. and my personal favorite: if you're going too fast, the map doesn't render and your car falls straight down into an endless abyss, before auto-resetting and dropping you in last place. i couldn't get passed the first race because of this garbage. its not just a random bug either, it's an infinitely re-creatable bug. if your above certain speeds in certain spots the game just says no and you lose. instant 6th place. don't waiste your money on PC ports. go buy Most Wanted on a console.

in my opinion this is one of the best need for speed games, it has solid drifting, nice cars, and a good single player and multiplayer modes. if you have the money and are looking for a good racing game this is one you should consider.

Have you ever played a poorly produced arcade racing game before? If you haven't, pick this one up right now. The physics are terrible. It's not even in the same league as a modern day racing game.

I really like the Need For Speed games and this is one of the best games I've ever played:
-Great graphics and I can play lag-free on my laptop.
-You can play as a racer or as a cop.
-NFS: Hot Pursuit is an open world game: You can select Cop, or Racer Free Ride.
-You can use "weapons" such as EMP, Roadspikes, etc...
-You can invite friends and play with them.

I recommend you buying this game. It's just awesome. 10/10

People who grew up playing NFS Underground 1 and 2 will most likely be disappointed, since the focus on customization and 4-cylinder tuners that they know and love aren't featured in this game. People who know that Need For Speed existed before Underground will know that despite the powerups and pop music, this is the closest NFS has been to the original games in a long time.

Gameplay-wise, from an outside perspective, Hot Pursuit does what an arcade racer should do best and focuses on high-speed driving above all else. Not only is the game arcade-y from a physics perspective, but it's actually set up kind of like a game you'd see in an actual arcade; you don't buy or upgrade cars at all, nor do you unlock the city part by part. You simply have a list of available cars, you pick what you want, and you start racing. I can see how most people would think that might be a negative thing (I myself probably would have preferred buying and upgrading vehicles) but I think the "quick race" approach works surprisingly well here. The driving feels good to me; the cars have a good amount of weight to them but are still easy to handle. Being able to play as a racer or a cop feels good too, and Criterion did a good job of infusing the game with some Burnout-influenced mechanics (such as takedowns and earning nitro) while still making Hot Pursuit feel distinctly like it's own game.

The game does have some faults though. There's not a lot of content, there's no way to set up custom races, and the only way to escape police is to take them down; you're not going to outrun them because they're some serious rubberbanding ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s. Also, there's other ways in which the AI doesn't play by the same rules; if a computer-controlled racer's health bar hits zero and they total their car, they'll respawn with a brand new one. If you total yours, the race ends. Being able to crash your way out of a race is totally fine (I like it) but it's always frustrating in any game when the AI doesn't follow the same rules you do. It feels cheap. On top of all of this, the PC port is pretty sad. It'll run at 60fps and 1080p, but the graphical options you can choose are very limited. There's not even any options for things as simple as anti-aliasing.

All things considered, Hot Pursuit is a decent arcade racer with solid driving and mostly satisfying cop chases. The lack of content and barebones nature of the PC port are it's downfalls. If you want a fresh arcade racer, give this game a try...but only when it goes on sale.

i Love this game!
It's simple.
It's really fast
IT'S WHAT A NFS GAME SUPPOSED TO BE!
Not with that custom crap stuff...
Just select the race, and enjoy a fast, battle-ish, beautiful game.
I highly recomend!

Not the best Need For Speed game out there, there are a lot of cons in this one, in a short review, I recommend you to buy the NFS: Undercover, instead of this one or the NFS: Shift.

- The game has a possibility to play as a cop or a racer, but there are not that many cars and they arent able to be customized the way we want, we can only change their colors, and some of them have only one.
- The game difficulty is absurd, every new player will strugle a lot to get used to the game and proceed to the next levels, there should be a way of choosing the difficulty instead of being this hard game with no possibility to change that.
- The controls are also very weird, and there is no tutorial, which it should have since this game is really hard to play.

I've talked about the main negative parts of this game, now lets pass to the good parts.

- The graphics, they are beautifull in every way, the cars, the landscapes, every graphic on this game is stunning.
- This game soundtrack is the most accurate for a game like this, playing a cool music, with a fast car at night is a great experience, and something I would recommend you do if you have the game.

Well, should you buy this game? If you have no racing games or if you are a fan of the Need For Speed series like me you should, but if you never played any game from the series then try to play other ones first.
