Kivi, Toilet and Shotgun is a game that I recommend because:
- it is a method to banish boredom
- it has a good price
- it has action
- it is indie & casual
- it has trading cards

Enjoy!

Long story short: The game is garbage.

Short story long: The game was play-tested approximately zero hours. There are circumstances where you cannnot win, and those circumstances are in the very beginning of the game. The way I can only guess it works is that you drive on a road and stop in towns. Now, I have to assume this because these are completely and utterly impossible to reach. The problem is that you [/i cannot] actually get there without running out of fuel. Doesn't matter if you stock up on a full tank and drive in a straight line (cause I did that, four times to make sure I wasn't making mistakes) because you will still run out. You can buy a fuel upgrade but there is nowhere near enough money to buy that in the first town.
You're ultimately left with the option of dying until RNGesus blesses you with fuel drops from killing cars.
(Good luck, I only got one out of those four runs. In the process killing 30+.)

When I first picked up this game, I was not sure what to expect. When all you know about a game is that it has to do with toilets and guns, there is much to be skeptical about. However, shortly after getting into the game I was pleasantly surprised by a simple, fun concept that provided what I would say was a good value, for a 99 cent game.

Soon after reaching the first checkpoint, I experienced my first death. Restarting was no big deal, since I had made progress and I was okay with having to go back a few steps once a lesson was learned. What I did not expect (or enjoy) was the many, many deaths it took me to reach the next few checkpoints. I rethought my strategy several times, buying many different upgrades and never forgetting to refill on health and supplies. But checkpoints were few and far between, and dying became tedious and very unpleasant.

Once, after barely cruising into a checkpoint, I dismounted my vehicle, weary and ready for another fight. However, instead of aiming for me, a resudial enemy from the road came in and destroyed my car, leaving me without a vehicle. Not built to handle this phenomenon, the game then had me walk for miles with no vehicle enemy spawns. Once I had reached the end of the road and arrived at the next town, I braced myself for the foot soldier attacks that would come before I could claim my checkpoint. However, they never did come. Since I had never dismounted my vehicle, the game had never been signaled to spawn the enemies for my battle!

Unable to save and stuck with no action, I left to the main menu to try Test Drive mode, which had worked bug-free for me prior to my little dilemma. Upon entering of the Test Drive section, the game promptly crashed (which I suspect had something to do with my previous bug).

That said, Kivi, Toilet and Shotgun is a great game for the price it's at. It's pretty fun, with a moderate replay value. However, the difficulty slant in this game along with the many bugs I have experienced make this review a downvote.

Interesting little game with surprisingly non-repetitive gameplay.
For a game with this price you would expect very few features, but this is not the case.
PROS:
- different types of upgrades and items that aren't there just for the sake of numbers (some are really useful)
- base defense / car combat mix
- reminds of the good old flash games with similar purchase upgrades style
- simple rules to follow
- easy to play and requires very little of your game time
CONS:
- sometimes the art feels to simplistic
- small sound variety. Would be nice if the dev would have an update to give the game more sounds.
- fuel consumption can prove a pain sometimes, so casual players might get frustrated and quit

Overall I recommend this game. Considering the price tag, the game is basically free. Much cheaper than any so called 'free games'. So since it's very cheap, the only concern is that if this game is a time waster. In my opinion is not.

16Bit Nights strikes with a new game, that impressed me quite a lot!
Kivi, Toilet and Shotgun, it's just one of those games that will bring back some memories of those old games you would've run back home from school to play as a kid. The thing is it's not old and everything is just out of new designs, new scripting and everything really nice. The game looks really nice as you start it up, nothing really lacking of content pretty much, as you start the story mode you'll see the game actually does have really good looking design. As you start driving your way, you'll also get some humor involved. Also the upgrades capability and the stores themselves, do have a lot of options and a lot of stuff for you to work to get it :) Other than that the trailer, description and other reviews tell you all that's about, Guns Driving and Running :) I also wanna say its that the game looks really promising and does show from the first minutes of gameplay that your next minutes spend playing this game will be worth it. Also it really looks like the developers worked hard, and knowing their past, you'll know this is actually a game they've put work into and this is gonna be like the first stable game they will launch. Hail 16bit Nights!
And btw it is worth it to get this game at 1 Buck, why not get it now while it's at 60 cents? :D ITS WORTH IT TRUST ME!

Travel north fending off the natives while keeping stocked on fuel and ammunition. Progression is marked by distance traveled and every so often you'll pass through a town. Towns require taking over on foot as they are guarded by waves of enemies. Once complete, can spend the gold on new cars, upgrades, refueling or bullets. Similar to 'Convoy' and worth a look at for the price.

Getting stuck in 3rd-4th town, no enemies spawning.

I'm not sure about the pride of the developer in their games. Even though the games are cheap and should be expected to play as such, there are still a number of other games for the same price that have a lot more polish and developer support. Actually, I think one of the best examples right now is Blood and Bacon. For $0.99, that is one of the best games I have seen. It plays on gimmicks and jokes and knows it, it's updated somewhat often, there's a lot of features and secrets that you don't really need but aren't necessarily unwelcome, and it has a good bit of replayability. Granted, it's basic and repetitive, but it has a method and goal, and it sticks to it. The developers are actively listening to their players and making the changes necessary so that it remains playable. Bugfixes and patches go out all the time, because they want their game to succeed. They reduce their complaints by actively fixing the problems in the game, and do not try to blanket or paint over the faults.

So here's how this developer could fix the customer's complaint and potentially receive more positive reviews: patch the game so that luck does not so often play a role. Instead of hoping for chance to drop the player a fuel pickup, make an enemy or group of enemies guaranteed to drop the necessary resources at different intervals along the road. The combat will extend playtime by encouraging players to fight all the enemies they come across so they can get what they need. Or, program the enemies so that on death, the lower the player's fuel is, the more likely they'll get a fuel pickup. You can also program other drops for different resources and needs. If the car has high fuel, full nitro, and full health, make the drop lean towards money or ammo. If the car has medium nitro and low health, make the drop lean towards nitro or health. Although the health would be preferred, having more nitro would remind the player that they can speed past their enemies, and get closer to the next town. And it doesn't necessarily have to be the drops they need. Killing an enemy and getting ammo when you need health is sometimes good, since the player needs to feel the tension of managing resources. But do not leave it all completely up to chance. Help the player by increasing the likelihood of getting resources they need when they need them.

This is the second game from 16 Bit Nights I've played that has fun concept that plays fairly well in the beginning, but spikes in difficulty due to poor management. We want to keep playing the game because we've seen what kind of fun we can have, and what kind of power we can get. It's a bit like Metroid Prime. In the opening we have all the tools and abilities, and we can see what the game is like, but then we suddenly lose all that power and have to build our way back up again. Metroid Prime does it well by making sure we aren't met with challenges we can't succeed in without that power, and raises difficulty as we get those abilities, but not before letting us feel a little invincible for a bit. So with this game, we have power at the beginning, but we lose that power because the difficulty rises. So we buy upgrades and resources to make sure we're strong enough to face those challenges. However, when we are given a scenario where only luck will save us, then it becomes a gamble, and the suggested rewards does not meet the chances of success.

I want to like Cosmic Dust and Rust. I want to like Kivi, Toilet and Shotgun. But after a while, there comes a point when I realize that it's not worth my time and that there are better games to play. When the player is so tired of a game's bullsh*t that they don't want to play anymore, that is when something in the game needs to be fixed.
