A typical day as a STALKER:

I wake up as day breaks on an old ship we STALKERs use as a makeshift base. I check my gear for the day; one pump-action shotgun for the mutants, and a rifle in case one of my own decides he wants my gear. I make sure I have enough food for the day, drugs in case some form of radiation decides to run rampant through my body, a few medkits and bandages, and my artifact detector. I decide its a perfect day for artifact hunting. As I step out the ship, I hear gun shots to the north, my intended direction. F*** that, I'll go somewhere else.

On my way to the first anomaly, I suddenly hear shrieks and the sound of ruffled bushes. As I turn toward that direction, a snork leaps its way toward me, claws ready to dig straight through my throat. Luckily I had my shotgun out, and I was quicker than him. As my slugs blow off his face, another one follows, but I make short work of him too. Unharmed and feeling confident, I continue to the anomaly.

Before I'm even halfway there, a fight breaks out between a group of stalkers and bandits. I lay in wait, hoping the two groups wipe each other out. Suddenly the bandits have an overwhelming advantage. Then I'm spotted. My rifle fires into the head of the first two, but I'm not so lucky with the third. His bullets clip my side. I quickly bandage them up to stop the bleeding, pop out of cover and fire, exploding his head. I use my medkit to heal everything up, and a few minutes later I'm back on track.

Or so i thought. Out stomps a god damn psuedogiant, as large as a frickin SUV. As I'm running, I see a group of stalkers and head in there direction. They see the situation, and begin to fire into the giant, as do I. But it's not enough. The thing destroys these three stalkers, but while he was distracted, I managaed to lay a few grenades under him, and finish him off with the shotgun.

It's nearing night, and stalkers know thats when more of these mutants come out, and not just the ones I've seen. I'm frightened I'll run into a buror, or a controller. Not to mention the horde of wild dogs hungry enough to sink their teeth into any form of flesh. I'm make my way back to the old ship.

What was I out here for again?

An excellent game.

The story is a bit light compared to the first Stalker (Shadow of Chernobyl).

The ending was a bit disappointing. I finally got all of the godly equipment and I didn't even get a chance to use it to the fullest extent. Still, this game was pretty good.

When you start out, you're going to be an absolutely garbage fighter. What you need to do is get:

1) Strelok's Gun with scope and silencer in Yanov.
2) Free Military Gear from Pripyat from the Army armorer.
3) Find and give all upgrading tools to a technician and upgrade all your equipment for maximum durability and accuracy.
4) Find and equip the Oasis and Bubble Artifacts.
5) Get the best detector by trading in 3 Veles Delectors to the guy in the Science Bunker at Yanov.

If you are poor, go to an anomaly zone with your detector out (Press O to pull it out), find some artifacts and sell it. You will become rich very quickly. Another way to get money is to sell medical kits and anti-radiation syringes that you'll find off of dead bodies. Everytime you go to Pripyat, bring some broken guns and have them repaired for free, and then whenever you go back to Yanov, sell those guns. This should easily cover the expensive round trip.

This game is like a Russian rags-to-riches simulator.

the 91 hours ive played in this game have honestly been some of the greatest time ive ever spent, sometimes im shocked to see that 91 hours is all ive played as it feels as though ive been in the game for days sometimes even weeks. To sum it up this game is 100% one of the greatest games ever made, the atmosphere in this game is a whole new level. The whole stalker series and setting puts all of the fallouts to shame in my personal opinion. It saddens me even more however that Call of Pripyat will potentially be the last stalker made unless someone, fingers crossed decides to revive this series of pure beauty and bring it back. This game may not be the best by todays standards in graphics or physics but for a game of its time its amazing, and if the graphics are a problem for you there sseveral absolutely brilliant mods out there for this game. STALKER is something that sticks with you and you will always finding yourself returning to the gritty atmosphere with a bottle of vodka your hand on your trusty AK shouting Cheeki Breeki for internity.

ill just put it like this, If you own a pc BUY THIS BEAUTIFUL ♥♥♥♥ER RIGHT NOW

You're gonna want to play this game (and the other stalker games too) on the highest difficulty because the lower the difficulty, the lower the chance of a bullet hit counting as an actual hit. This means shooting an enemy in the head on easy may or may not kill the enemy, depending on your luck. Whereas shooting an enemy in the head on the highest difficulty will always kill the enemy (assuming your gun does enough damage).

Not a great difficulty system, but knowing about it is gonna save you a lot of frustration.

As a big fan of the entire Stalker series and only a few hours of gameply I can say that this series is one of the most atmospheric fps games that I have played to date. Dark and mysterious overtones, plus half of my enjoyment comes from the excellent mods readily available for all of the games. So far I reccommend the AtmosFear mod paired with Absolute Nature mod for an immersive experience. Gameplay can be a bit glitchy but I think of it as a diamond in the rough.

I hope you like rather crap engines and extremely unbalanced combat and several modding teams that put having to hear your character make every tiny sound they could get the fat ♥♥♥♥ in the office to make that day. If you don't find that appealing and think that Terrible Dirty Russian Fallout isn't much fun then you can get ебаный

I have not played this game for a very long time, however I noticed one thing over the course of all of this time... I kept remembering this game from time to time. As somebody who is not a fan of jump scares and the "horror"-genre, in general, I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this game.

I was all about the open world. This world is very atmospheric and it really felt like you were just trying to survive, even if in reality it did not take much to become a bad-♥♥♥ who could go in with guns blazing most of the time. There were still plenty of surprises and challenges, some of which took a while to figure-out because there were more than one way to approach the situation, however the FEELING of "OMG, I have to stop the bleeding, find food, sell of this stuff to make money, and get ammo for my gun!" was always present. Never have I played a game where I was actually afraid of walking out at night and actually tried to get back to a safe area before darkness... kind of how you would do in real life, right? The atmosphere, especially with the lighting effects, and the creepy anomalies, made me explore every nook and cranny. Sure, you could probably run through the main story in a solid 10-15 hours... but why? I had a blast just exploring, at times doing repetitive artifact farming just because it was FUN figuring-out the spots where you could make a profit and simply LIVING in this world.

If you like open world exploration (divided into several very large maps/area) and appreciate a focus on atmosphere, you will probably be able to look past the occasional cheap horror jump-scare and enjoy the game for what it is: an exploration masterpiece that ends waaaay too soon even after 54 hours. You will remember this one, unlike the many other games you may have also played along the way to get to this one.

They really need to make another STALKER. A head shot is actually a headshot. Full body armor but no helmet? Yeah, shoot them in the head. Drop like a sack of potatoes. Enemy AI is pretty cool as well. Actually had an enemy fire directly at me while his buddies tried to flank me instead of just coming straight at me. The accuracy of the weapons are spot on as well. Your bullets dont seem to fly in a straight line especially if you're spraying lead like most other games. Searching anomilies is dangerous but fun. Ran around an anomily while running from a snork just to watch it try to run through it and get torn to shreds. It's a pretty amazing game. I would love to see another one made. Bigger, better, and with just a few more weapon and armor options. Just as long as the core game play stays the same. Someone needs to get STALKER 2 rolling! It's been long enough!
