What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Osiris: New Dawn is a really big, ambitious game and we are a very small team. Gathering feedback from a larger base of players will help us understand what's working, what needs improvement and, most importantly, make sure the game is enjoyable on every level.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The release date for any game is always a moving target. With Osiris we not only want to build a ton of content and features into the game and planets, we also want to build out a fully realized Solar System that can be visited with each planet providing a unique experience for version 1.0. We estimate it will take about a year to get there.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We've built Osiris to have a great technical framework which will allow us to continually add new creatures, game modes and visual elements – we want to stuff every possible inch of coolness into this space adventure. Our plan is to provide consistent major updates throughout Early Access as well as create an entire Solar System to visit before the full version is released. We plan to build upon the current set of core gameplay mechanics and expand them towards the full version of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Traditionally, publishers we've worked with define Alpha as “content complete” and Beta as “feature complete,” with Gold referring to a full release candidate. We'd currently place ourselves between Alpha and Beta: call it "early Beta" if you will. The game currently has fully featured first and third person perspectives, crafting and survival mechanics, ranged and melee weapons, fully realized alien AI, several vehicles, a vast planet to explore and MULTIPLAYER!

We strive for each feature and piece of content in the game to perform solidly and look as good as possible.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We feel the price will increase after Early Access due to the increased amount of additional content. With that in mind, we want to reward those who are with us from the beginning by offering them a lower price initially.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to create an amazing near-future, Sci-Fi experience and would like regular constructive feedback from the community on the current game in addition to new feature and content requests. This will enable us to prioritize them in our development cycle. We plan on doing this by being active in the Steam forums and social media in addition to podcast episodes focused on game design in “The Game Design Dojo Podcast.” We're also looking into other channels of communication and will update the community when those become available.”

About This Game

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” – H.P. Lovecraft

The year is 2046 and mankind’s discovery of near-lightspeed "fold engine" propulsion has empowered mankind's Osiris expeditionary missions to the Gliese 581 system. You are the second colonization team sent by the U.N.E. (United Nations of Earth) to study potential habitable planets when your spacecraft malfunctions braking from light speed, forcing an emergency landing on the planet’s surface.

Overcome the dangers of an environment with unpredictable weather conditions by building a central base, expanding the structure further with modular units to grow food, create research centers, manufacturing bays and more. To further advance technologies and thrive on the planet, traverse into a world filled equally with breathtaking landscapes and alien terrors that will freeze your blood. Osiris is a beautiful game that uniquely combines inventive crafting, curious exploration, and skillful combat. Explore an alien system and colonize worlds of incredible wonders and unforgiving dangers.

  • Multiplayer Colonization: Work together with online players to build a prospering colony and together defend against threatening alien species, survive environmental phenomenon including meteor showers, and attacks from other online player colonies.
  • Survive, Craft, Research and Thrive: Gather resources and materials to adapt to the alien system, build modular structures to grow food and create manufacturing bays, research new technologies to upgrade gear and build new vehicles and droids, and explore the environment to discover new resources and secrets to expand and thrive in this brave alien world.
  • Explore The Planet And Beyond: Learn what wonders and horrors lie on the alien planet and explore underground dungeons for unique potential discoveries. In time, build spacecraft to launch into space and travel to other planets in the solar system.
  • Prepare for a Fight: Choose first or third person controls as you hunt intelligent alien species with predatory instincts. Equip a variety of weapons to ensure you are prepared for any situation.
  • Light-Year Visual Difference: Experience the high graphic quality typically only found in AAA games. Osiris: New Dawn offers high attention to texture detail and High Dynamic Range lighting creating a frightening gorgeous world. An advanced IK (inverse kinematics) system powers over 200 amazing fluid player movements and a diverse range of terrifying alien creature animations.
