About This Game

Portal Stories: Mel is a community made, free modification for Portal 2 based in the Portal universe.
It tells the story of Mel, who meets a new personality core and faces an undiscovered threat to the Aperture facility.

1952, in the early years of Aperture: Science Innovators, Cave Johnson’s scientists experimented with whatever they wanted. Not everything worked as it should have though, but that wasn't going to get in the way of the progress of Science! Mel unfortunately took part in a faulty test called the Aperture: Science Innovators Short-Term Relaxation Vault, falling asleep for years. When she finally wakes, there is a fake Cave Johnson telling her she needs to escape the facility and a new device called the Aperture Handheld Portal Device, her mind races with questions. “Who is this imposter Cave Johnson?” “What happened to the facility and its staff?”

"What happened to me?"

Very challenging puzzles and at times felt like they were harder than the actual portal 2 game but the story was also very interesting and i dont think you will ever find a mod that honestly could have been its own game.

Don't get distracted by the free mod tag. As far as I'm concerned, this is Portal 2.5.

Yes, the times have changed since Portal 2. We've got Mind, Talos Principle, Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Naissancee, etc. But this thing holds up exceptionally against the new kids.

Portal Stories: Mel is not only a mod, it its a complete game that feels like it's made by Valve. The story is amazing, the level design is superb and game is long! Actually 7-8 hours of gameplay! The puzzles are not so easy and obvius like you would expect from a community made game, but it has the same level of irony and funny moments of the official game, and a lot of easter eggs! It doesnt deserve to be a game free to play, i would have payed for this masterpiece. So, are you still there? [turrent cit] download this game now!

Portal Stories: Mel is an awesome mod (feels like an unofficial expansion pack) for Portal 2. Even though it was not made by Valve, the quality and the feel of this game is amazing and is at the same stardards of a Valve game. The game is about 7-8 hours long, and then there's the advanced mode of the same puzzles which will add another few or so hours - all this at the cost of nothing! The level design is unique, diverse and challenging; some puzzles are really difficult if you've been out of the Portal scene for awhile like myself. There's also custom music and new characters with full voice acting all put together with an awesome and well written story. Overall, this game is extremely polished and is a must play for any Portal fan - you will not be disappointed from beginning to end.

This game is so good. Like really good. People have said it before and I'm going to say it too, it's quality is basically that of an official Portal sequel but for 100% off the price. The story is about Mel another test subject trying to escape Aperture after being stuck in stasis since the 50's. The puzzles are almost rage inducing at points, I'm not a genius by any means and the puzzles stumped me so hard in multiple places. I'm not even sure I solved a few of them the right way and didn't just cheese the hell out of them and cheated.
Overall I rate it a 9/10 and if you have Portal 2 you are doing only yourself a disservice by not playing this fantasic game. It hit all of my Portal 3 itches so now even if we never get an official one, I'll still be ok with just this one.

More challenging than Portal 1 and 2 combined, and it should cost something, because it's about as good as them too.

It's a perfect extension of the portal universe in a way that the paid mods can only hope to achieve. It's clever, complicated, sometimes hilarious, but more often than not very intense.

For one thing, the scenery, the music, all of it, bring together a feeling of utter desolation and loneliness in a way that Portal 2 could only hope to accomplish, and you know very well that you're in the bowels of a gigantic facility that's so large it has its own weather system inside. Most importantly, you can tell the development team has put amazing effort into it, from the difficult level design to the original soundtrack by Portal's most official unofficial musician, Harry101uk (Harry Callaghan)

The only issue that some players would encounter is probably the sheer difficulty of the levels. Playing through once takes about 10-15 hours for the average player, and you will find yourself almost ragequitting more than once, only to realize the ingenious timing, momentum, or precise portal placement that you needed to solve the level. I've played through 3 times now, and it's still harder than portal 2!

Overall though, I'd give the game a solid 9.5/10 for how vivid an experience it is, and I would definitely recommend any portal fan get it as soon as possible.

Whether you just got the game, or you're an experienced and dedicated player, this game will really teach you how to think with portals.
