Over dit spel

While explosively stripping the evil pirate LeChuck of his demonic mojo, Guybrush Threepwood inadvertently infects the entire Caribbean with the arch-fiend's expelled voodoo, which threatens to transform buccaneers into unruly pirate monsters. Pursued by a notorious cut-throat Pirate Hunter and a creepy French Physician who believes that Guybrush's eerily-infected hand holds the secret of eternal life, Threepwood sails the seven seas in search of La Esponja Grande, a legendary sea sponge with unparalleled voodoo exfoliating abilities. But little does Guybrush know, his quest is part of a larger, more sinister plot, and good and evil are not always as they seem...
Who can Guybrush trust? Where can he turn? Everything you think you know will be challenged as Tales of Monkey Island builds to its unexpected finale!

About Chapter One

The saga begins with a heated battle involving the brave but often bumbling Mighty Pirate™ Guybrush, his beloved wife Elaine, and their nemesis, the demon pirate LeChuck. When the showdown goes up in flames, Guybrush finds himself marooned on a strange island with winds that always blow inward. How will our hero manage to escape this meteorological anomaly? What has become of LeChuck and Elaine? And what's the story with the infectious voodoo pox that's spreading across the Caribbean, causing Guybrush and other pirates to act like unruly hooligans? These are just some of the many questions posed in this first chapter of one of the most rollicking and rip-roaring entertainment experiences this summer.

About Chapter Two

Guybrush's adventures continue on the high seas as pox-plagued pirates lay siege to the innocent Mer-People. In between defending the Mer-People and dodging the persistent pirate hunter hot on his trail, Guybrush manages to catch up to his beloved wife and despised arch-nemesis — but their reunion is short-lived. Now Guybrush must focus on eradicating the Pox of LeChuck before more harm can be done. And as the Mighty Pirate draws closer to a cure, the waters will only grow murkier in this thrilling chapter of the epic saga.

About Chapter Three

In the third Tales of Monkey Island chapter, Guybrush gets in deep (literally!) as his quest for the voodoo exfoliating La Esponja Grande takes a scenic twist -- through the guts of a giant manatee!
Trapped in the belly of the beast, our hero encounters a surprising band of castaways, including the long-lost (and obsessive-compulsive) explorer Coronado De Cava. Can the Mighty Pirate win the suspicious De Cava's trust? Will sexy pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay prove to be a ruthless enemy, or an unlikely ally? Will the group find La Esponja Grande in time to save Elaine from the rampant Pox of LeChuck? And will the world be crushed by the gnashing teeth of a certain demonic skull? Tales of Monkey Island's moist and absorbing third episode, Lair of the Leviathan, will answer some of these urgent questions -- and raise still more -- as the five month adventure builds to its epic climax!

About Chapter Four

Guybrush returns to Flotsam Island, but forget about a hero's welcome. Handed over to De Singe by the backstabbing Morgan LeFlay, Guybrush is seized by an angry mob and put on trial! With a silk-tongued prosecutor in his face and a hangman's noose dangling over his neck, Guybrush must figure out how to defend himself against grave accusations. Meanwhile, the determined Marquis sets his sights on a new and far more attractive test subject. How on earth will the Mighty Pirate get out of this mess? The monthly Tales of Monkey Island tension continues to mount in "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood." Brace yourself for a shocking revelation that will rock the world of Monkey Island to its core.

About Chapter Five

Our piratey heroes meet their ultimate match with the Rise of the Pirate God. Can the world of Monkey Island be saved? Find out as the Tales of Monkey Island saga comes to its thrilling conclusion.

The Monkey Island Series was and still is my favourite series of games to play.

This does not disappoint. It has the humour and puzzle fun of the Original series. It also has a much better interface and graphics. Oh and Elaine, Guybrush and Le Chuck, still the three greatest games characters ever created.

The end credits for each chapter should not be missed, they are hilarious and contain old favourites and nods to the original games. I just loved each chapter of the game.

Oh and no glitches. Take note you other games developers, this is how gaming should be done.

Tales is divisive among the Monkey Island fanbase. As a long time player, I happened to love it. In typical TTG fashion, the story even gets pretty emotional.

Welcome back to the hilarious pirating world of Guybrush Threepwood. Aye, Matie - the nostalgic, comic, misadventures continue in this throw back of days gone by.

Fantastic point & click adventure from LucasArts. Great purchase on sale and highly recommended for fans of the genre. I remember this debut in 1990 on an old 386 SX 16 MHz.

This return has much improved graphics, great storyline, clever puzzles and the fun escape that video games draw us to.

Highly recommended after finishing Chapter 1. I will indeed complete the series in this one.

I cannot really say 100% if this game was worth it or not. I've played all the other Monkey Islands in the past, and besides Monkey Island 4, I enjoyed all of them.

I will review this game from different points of view:
1) CHARACTERS: Guybrush never gets boring, he is still able to make you laugh and give some funny commentaries on what is happening to him even if the situation seems hopeless. His wife Elaine is even more annoying than she ever was, and also this time she's one of the main causes of Guybrush's trouble. Le Chuck is seen for the first time as a human, and the Vodoo Lady has some nice corpse paint on her face. Even some old acquaintances have found their place in the game. There are a couple of good characters which worked well, like De Singe and Morgan, and the side characters also were well thought and hilarious (like the sailors belonging to De Cava's troupe). All characters were well thought and well designed.

2)STORY: The story is "innovative" and well thought, and has some nice little twists in it which keep you interested. The fact that it develops over 5 episodes, though, makes it sometimes "slow paced", but overall the whole idea works very well, and keeps you wanting to know what happens next.

3)GAMEPLAY: that's the main point which ruined the whole experience for me. Until the 4th episode I was able to manage everything by myself, without getting any "help" on the internet. Starting with the fourth episode, I had some troubles understanding the map the Voodoo Lady gives you to make the Esponja grow, and after some failed attempts I had to look it up to continue. The game also had a bug I could only solve thanks to a German blog, and some of the stuff I found in the fourth episode was pointless (the liquid glass, the wax, etc.), and made me loose a lot of time trying to find out how to use it. In episode 5 I got REALLY frustrated and had to look up for a solution too many times. I can say I am an experienced point&click adventurer and always manage to solve everything by myself, but this time the connections between objects and effect was "absurd" at times, so that I would never ever have thought about the combinations that were needed to go on. The whole going back and forth through the Crossroads was kind of an annoying time loss I would have avoided, and the "advises" the Voodoo Ladies gives you are not really helpful in finding out what to do next.

So, overall, the game was well done (even if there were some mistakes in the German synchronisation, and sometimes you could even hear the same guy giving voices to two different characters, which is never good), the story was nice and worked very well, but the Gameplay ruined my overall experience, so that I just wanted the game to finally be over in the last chapter.

Guybrush ThreepWood Mighty Pirate! A 5 episode adventure filled with funny dialogue and brain cracking puzzles. Never gets so hard that you give up and yet not simple enough to be labelled a cakewalk either. Its monkeys and its just right.

I'm a huge fan of all the Monkey Island games and this one was no exception. Another amazingly hilarious adventure of Guybrush vs. LeChuck. Many thanks to TellTale for bringing back such a great series. (now bring back ManiacMansion's/Day of the Tentacle's world)

If you like point and click adventure games, then this set of 5 is worth getting. I loved the oldschool games in this series, and they have managed to keep most of the feel of theose, without all the restrictions of potato computers.

Tales of Monkey Island is not quite as good as its predecessors but is still a very fine addition to the Monkey Island series. Old faces and jokes return to make you laugh and its a nice return to the old adventure games.

This game was far from awesome... I played it through mostly because I got it with all the other Telltale games. I don't think it's a good story and I probably would recommend people to play Mario or something if they want a good "damsel in distress"-game.

More like random thoughts than a review.

Chapter 1- A good start to the Tell-Tale Monkey Island set. I spent the majority of this chapter with a big grin on my face along with occasional chuckles. I love me some Monkey Island..

Chapter 2 - was good as well, Winslow is really beginning to become a favorite character. "Uh... the map.. I like it when you point on the map sir.."

Chapter 3- Oh man! I'm so happy Murray made an appearance. I was starting to get worried, he is my favorite evil demonic skull.

Chapter 4 - Not really my favorite.. I didn't find as many chuckles and it was darker.

Chapter 5 - As far as endings go, it was alright. I wasn't fond of "standing still until I can finally click on something" near the end.

I've alway sbeen a big Monkey Island fan. I grew up playing the originals on PC and on the Sega CD. I can honestly say that this series did not disappoint. The puzzles were awesome -- they actually forced you to think and the story was entertaining. It was nice to see the return of a lof the characters I grew up seeing and how they had evolved over the past couple decades.

Having said that the game was enthralling from start to finish. I would recomment this game to anyone. The story is self contained so if you have not played any of the previous Monkey Islands you would not be at a loss starting with this series. I can only hope with LA disolved that we can someday get to see more Guybrush Threepwood, Mightee Pirate in the future!

Score: 7/10

I enjoyed the series overall. The first installment got a bit stale after twenty minutes, but the rest of the series makes up for it. The second is much more interesting and allows more areas to go to. The third is my favorite installment. The fourth is on par with the second. The fifth is slightly under number three in terms of fun factor. I believe the series is true to it's roots and the company did a good job on it.
