While explosively stripping the evil pirate LeChuck of his demonic mojo, Guybrush Threepwood inadvertently infects the entire Caribbean with the arch-fiend's expelled voodoo, which threatens to transform buccaneers into unruly pirate monsters. Pursued by a notorious cut-throat Pirate Hunter and a creepy French Physician who believes that Guybrush's eerily-infected hand holds the secret of eternal life, Threepwood sails the seven seas in search of La Esponja Grande, a legendary sea sponge with unparalleled voodoo exfoliating abilities. But little does Guybrush know, his quest is part of a larger, more sinister plot, and good and evil are not always as they seem...
Who can Guybrush trust? Where can he turn? Everything you think you know will be challenged as Tales of Monkey Island builds to its unexpected finale!

About Chapter One

The saga begins with a heated battle involving the brave but often bumbling Mighty Pirate™ Guybrush, his beloved wife Elaine, and their nemesis, the demon pirate LeChuck. When the showdown goes up in flames, Guybrush finds himself marooned on a strange island with winds that always blow inward. How will our hero manage to escape this meteorological anomaly? What has become of LeChuck and Elaine? And what's the story with the infectious voodoo pox that's spreading across the Caribbean, causing Guybrush and other pirates to act like unruly hooligans? These are just some of the many questions posed in this first chapter of one of the most rollicking and rip-roaring entertainment experiences this summer.

About Chapter Two

Guybrush's adventures continue on the high seas as pox-plagued pirates lay siege to the innocent Mer-People. In between defending the Mer-People and dodging the persistent pirate hunter hot on his trail, Guybrush manages to catch up to his beloved wife and despised arch-nemesis — but their reunion is short-lived. Now Guybrush must focus on eradicating the Pox of LeChuck before more harm can be done. And as the Mighty Pirate draws closer to a cure, the waters will only grow murkier in this thrilling chapter of the epic saga.

About Chapter Three

In the third Tales of Monkey Island chapter, Guybrush gets in deep (literally!) as his quest for the voodoo exfoliating La Esponja Grande takes a scenic twist -- through the guts of a giant manatee!
Trapped in the belly of the beast, our hero encounters a surprising band of castaways, including the long-lost (and obsessive-compulsive) explorer Coronado De Cava. Can the Mighty Pirate win the suspicious De Cava's trust? Will sexy pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay prove to be a ruthless enemy, or an unlikely ally? Will the group find La Esponja Grande in time to save Elaine from the rampant Pox of LeChuck? And will the world be crushed by the gnashing teeth of a certain demonic skull? Tales of Monkey Island's moist and absorbing third episode, Lair of the Leviathan, will answer some of these urgent questions -- and raise still more -- as the five month adventure builds to its epic climax!

About Chapter Four

Guybrush returns to Flotsam Island, but forget about a hero's welcome. Handed over to De Singe by the backstabbing Morgan LeFlay, Guybrush is seized by an angry mob and put on trial! With a silk-tongued prosecutor in his face and a hangman's noose dangling over his neck, Guybrush must figure out how to defend himself against grave accusations. Meanwhile, the determined Marquis sets his sights on a new and far more attractive test subject. How on earth will the Mighty Pirate get out of this mess? The monthly Tales of Monkey Island tension continues to mount in "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood." Brace yourself for a shocking revelation that will rock the world of Monkey Island to its core.

About Chapter Five

Our piratey heroes meet their ultimate match with the Rise of the Pirate God. Can the world of Monkey Island be saved? Find out as the Tales of Monkey Island saga comes to its thrilling conclusion.

Tales is divisive among the Monkey Island fanbase. As a long time player, I happened to love it. In typical TTG fashion, the story even gets pretty emotional.

Sharp and funny adventure game with a great understanding of what made the previous Monkey Island games fun.

Took me about 10-12 hours to get through all parts. Puzzles were nice, story was way better than expected and controlling with WASD was alright (the mouse-drag-thing is horrible), although a "always run"-function would have been nice.

Tales of Monkey Island (all 5 chapters)

I thoroughly enjoyed Tales of Monkey Island, I simply couldn’t put the games down and finished all chapters within a few days. First off though I’ll say that I can’t recall if I have played the old Monkey Island games, and if I did it was when I was too young to remember the game’s title! So I won’t be basing my review of this game off of comparisons with previous games.

Puzzles
The puzzles are really well done, definitely what you’d expect from a good adventure game. Personally I enjoy puzzles that lean towards being logical and not being pixel hunting, and this game definitely satisfied me on that department. Usually when you need to find an item/ have found an item while exploring, you can pretty much imagine what you’d be able to do with the items. That doesn’t mean the puzzles are flat out easy though, it just means that you can fuzzily see how the solution would come about, but would need some more exploring or twists and turns to complete each step.

Controls
The controls are something I didn’t really like, you have to drag your mouse in the direction you want Guybrush to move, so it’s not as easy as clicking a point on the screen and having him walk there (certain highlighted areas excluded). Most of the time was spent “swiping” my mouse to and fro while holding down the left mouse button, which really gave my hand and wrist cramps (well, I was playing for long periods too, but no thanks carpal tunnel)! I tried using the keyboard arrow keys for a bit, but as they usual in 2D/3D games it’s clunky so I stuck with using the mouse.

Story
Story is good enough, none of it seems like filler, just quality swashbuckling pirate adventure! I really liked the character Morgan LeFlay, badass pirate hunter, and hope to see her around more! Other characters like the Voodoo Lady appear again and they are well developed as well. Bonus: so many innuendos!

Other aspects
Playtime for me was roughly 4 hours per chapter, which pretty much corresponds with the time on HowLongToBeat, totalling slightly less than 20 hours for me. Voice acting and soundtrack wise, they’re both great especially the voice acting (as expected), though I wish they could have some more loops for the background music.

Welcome back to the hilarious pirating world of Guybrush Threepwood. Aye, Matie - the nostalgic, comic, misadventures continue in this throw back of days gone by.

Fantastic point & click adventure from LucasArts. Great purchase on sale and highly recommended for fans of the genre. I remember this debut in 1990 on an old 386 SX 16 MHz.

This return has much improved graphics, great storyline, clever puzzles and the fun escape that video games draw us to.

Highly recommended after finishing Chapter 1. I will indeed complete the series in this one.

I cannot really say 100% if this game was worth it or not. I've played all the other Monkey Islands in the past, and besides Monkey Island 4, I enjoyed all of them.

I will review this game from different points of view:
1) CHARACTERS: Guybrush never gets boring, he is still able to make you laugh and give some funny commentaries on what is happening to him even if the situation seems hopeless. His wife Elaine is even more annoying than she ever was, and also this time she's one of the main causes of Guybrush's trouble. Le Chuck is seen for the first time as a human, and the Vodoo Lady has some nice corpse paint on her face. Even some old acquaintances have found their place in the game. There are a couple of good characters which worked well, like De Singe and Morgan, and the side characters also were well thought and hilarious (like the sailors belonging to De Cava's troupe). All characters were well thought and well designed.

2)STORY: The story is "innovative" and well thought, and has some nice little twists in it which keep you interested. The fact that it develops over 5 episodes, though, makes it sometimes "slow paced", but overall the whole idea works very well, and keeps you wanting to know what happens next.

3)GAMEPLAY: that's the main point which ruined the whole experience for me. Until the 4th episode I was able to manage everything by myself, without getting any "help" on the internet. Starting with the fourth episode, I had some troubles understanding the map the Voodoo Lady gives you to make the Esponja grow, and after some failed attempts I had to look it up to continue. The game also had a bug I could only solve thanks to a German blog, and some of the stuff I found in the fourth episode was pointless (the liquid glass, the wax, etc.), and made me loose a lot of time trying to find out how to use it. In episode 5 I got REALLY frustrated and had to look up for a solution too many times. I can say I am an experienced point&click adventurer and always manage to solve everything by myself, but this time the connections between objects and effect was "absurd" at times, so that I would never ever have thought about the combinations that were needed to go on. The whole going back and forth through the Crossroads was kind of an annoying time loss I would have avoided, and the "advises" the Voodoo Ladies gives you are not really helpful in finding out what to do next.

So, overall, the game was well done (even if there were some mistakes in the German synchronisation, and sometimes you could even hear the same guy giving voices to two different characters, which is never good), the story was nice and worked very well, but the Gameplay ruined my overall experience, so that I just wanted the game to finally be over in the last chapter.

Guybrush ThreepWood Mighty Pirate! A 5 episode adventure filled with funny dialogue and brain cracking puzzles. Never gets so hard that you give up and yet not simple enough to be labelled a cakewalk either. Its monkeys and its just right.

Tales of Monkey Island is not quite as good as its predecessors but is still a very fine addition to the Monkey Island series. Old faces and jokes return to make you laugh and its a nice return to the old adventure games.

I'm a huge fan of all the Monkey Island games and this one was no exception. Another amazingly hilarious adventure of Guybrush vs. LeChuck. Many thanks to TellTale for bringing back such a great series. (now bring back ManiacMansion's/Day of the Tentacle's world)

This game was far from awesome... I played it through mostly because I got it with all the other Telltale games. I don't think it's a good story and I probably would recommend people to play Mario or something if they want a good "damsel in distress"-game.

I've alway sbeen a big Monkey Island fan. I grew up playing the originals on PC and on the Sega CD. I can honestly say that this series did not disappoint. The puzzles were awesome -- they actually forced you to think and the story was entertaining. It was nice to see the return of a lof the characters I grew up seeing and how they had evolved over the past couple decades.

Having said that the game was enthralling from start to finish. I would recomment this game to anyone. The story is self contained so if you have not played any of the previous Monkey Islands you would not be at a loss starting with this series. I can only hope with LA disolved that we can someday get to see more Guybrush Threepwood, Mightee Pirate in the future!

Although far from being perfect, this 5 chapters adventure is a solid experience.
The music was okay - unremarkable at points, which I consider a good thing, because it let me focus on the plot and the puzzles. Great voice acting, though!
I liked the graphics, and the recycled faces and body types didn't bother me too much. The camera was very cinematic, a problem, when you are controlling the character and get lost because of it.
The puzzles were great. I admit I had to look up some, but the majority of them was a nice combination of logic and lateral thinking, in the spirit of the series. Inside jokes and references were abundant and really fun!

Moving to plot and characters. Spoiler alert!
This Guybrush is definitely more mature than in the first games, but he's still a big softie. The Voodoo Lady still rocks. LeChuck had a couple of great moments, although in the end it boils down to 'he's evil because he's evil'.
I have some major complaints regarding the character of Elaine, which is kinda there in all the 5 chapters, in the background and in need to be rescued--twice! (What has she done to the Elaine of Secret and Revenge?)
The new character, Morgan, kicks ♥♥♥--except she doesn't, really. Her whole reason d'etre revolves around Guybrush. It partly makes sense because of her job, but really. She feels down because of him, fights with his wife because of him, gets killed because of him, is cheered up because of him, sacrifices what is important for him... gimme a break. No, I don't think the hole 'childhood hero' thing justifies all of it. I just hope we will see more of her in upcoming games, she's promising.
And for the love of God, the Guybrush/Elaine/Morgan triangle was so weirdly orchestrated. It felt awkward. I saw it as forced.
Considering the media today, Elaine and Morgan got a decent treatment, but I still consider it below average for my tastes. These two points affected my liking the most.

tl;dr solid game(s), treatment of female characters could have been handled better, 8/10

I enjoyed these episodes even more than Sam and Max, too bad there aren't more of them. I found myself laughing out loud a good bit. The puzzles are not as hard as the original Moneky Island(tm) puzzles but present a good enough challenge that it's also not a cakewalk. The graphics are cartoonish but stylish. Highly recommended for any adventure fan.

Great story, and good voice acting. It will grip you to complete it, if you like a challenge. Sounds quite childish, but it is great for point and click fans.
