I can't really recommned this game. Yes it is an amazing rally simulation and probably the best you will find at the moment. But it has so many nagging issues that destroy a lot of fun really quickly.

-Amazing driving once you managed to get to grips with the handling. Speeding through tight corners really is totally awesome.
-Graphics are really good and have some very good enviromental effects. Also how your car gets torn down and dirtier you farther you progress into a rally is really cool.
-Pikes Peak Hill Climb in three different setups. A very cool challenge and good variation with different surfaces.
-Good VR implementation for the Rift

-the game is EXTREMLY hard to pick up. There is no tutorial ingame, just some useless videos that don't teach you anything. Be prepared to end in the ditch a lot more often you would like in the first 10 hours...
- the AI drivers are also a joke. You can drive what feels like a perfect stage and still be 40-50 seconds behind the first driver...
-Rallycross is broken to the core. The drivers that are with you on the track drive on rails and are ridicoulus fast. Like 10-15 seconds faster than everybody else in a lap that takes less than a minute.
-my biggest gripe though is the useless co driver in rally mode. It is impossible to get consistens calls out of him. Sometimes he tells you what corner you drive through while you already in it, at other times he is five corners ahead of you and once you get where he was you already forgot what he told you. Also he is way to verbose many times. He has the tendency to tell you about every bump and ditch on some tracks totally drowning the important information in his torrent of useless stuff. Be prepared to miss many a corner and get thrown of track at crests because the codriver overloaded you with his unstoppable talking. (To be fair, there are some tracks where he works fine, but especially in Finland he is totally broken)

I didn't realise what a good rally game was until I played this. It's hard work, it takes time and a lot of practice to get good, but the feeling of completing a fast clean stage over the crests of Finland is unrivalled in this category of games. Dirt Rally puts the WRC series and previous Dirt games to shame, bringing the challenging narrow stages and crazy powerful cars that characterise the sport lovingly into the best driving game I've seen for years. A must buy.

Being an iRacing fan and racer so coming from a pretty realistic sim to this was hard to imagine something could get to this level of realism. Its utterly amazing. Utterly brutal which makes it even more amazing. And im still waiting to play this baby in VR on the rift that arrives in September.
play the old Colin games in the past and then the Dirt ones which i thought were a bit of a let down and then CM brought this out.

The only thing i have to complain about is there is not enough deversity of tracks. A lot of the tracks are repeats but reverse or longer. I hope now this game is not Eearly Access anymore that they continue with this fanastic sim by added DLC free or paid with more tracks. And focus in the rally stages and less on rallycross. Add some more hillclimbs also.

As someone who has played countless racing sims, and not-so-sim racing games, this has to be my favorite. The sheer madness of blasting your car 100 mph down a windy dirt road is exhilarating. Slamming into a tree 100 meters from the end of the stage is maddening!

While you do learn a good bit about most of the stages through repetition, it's nothing like driving around Monza for the 1000th time on other racing games. You will have to learn how to listen to your co-driver and adapt to surface changes on each stages.

As many others have said, this is a sim. It's going to show no mercy. Your going to punch it and go right off a cliff on the first drive(s). We all did. Due to the precision involved, it's best played with a wheel and pedals. Using an xbox controller is simply selling yourself short.

DiRT Rally is probably the best example of an Early Access game done good. The devs had a plan, they engaged with the community for feedback, and they executed to the best of their ability. DiRT Rally is hands down the best-looking, best playing rally sim available - it's a wild beast of a racing game, that demands so much from the player - simultaneously requiring extreme concentration and improvisation on a dime.

This game is also really well-optimized - possibly its strongest aspect - I'm playing this on a late-2013 macbook pro, all spec-ed out, and am getting north of 30fps on a mixture of medium-high settings. And this game still looks and feels incredible.

So good. DiRT Rally will blow your mind. But don't take my word for it!

10/10 would fly off Pike's Peak again.

While playing Dirt Rally you can truly feel the hate and anger Codemasters harbors for all those people who begged and pleaded for a realistic rally game. They decided to make a rally game so perfect, that nobody would ask for one like it again. Because, the reality is, you probably can't drive a rally car. That's where Dirt Rally really shines. It accuratly simulates you crashing into boulders, trees, falling off mountains, and dieing in other totally expected ways. The game is hard, because driving overpowered rally cars over and through gravel mountain roads is hard. And so you'll sink 12 hours into a single track with a single car hoping that at some point you'll reach the finish line. Any dreams of one day becoming a real rally driver are totally crushed along the way as well, just like your rally car that has hit more trees than it has safely passed.

10/10, would spend 4 hours trying to figure out how to get around a single bend again.

I had so much joy with DiRT 3, but there's more. Let's have a close look to DiRT Rally.

DiRT Rally is a rally game with plenty of modes like plain rally, rallycross and hillclimb. In the career, you start up with the oldest rally cars you can imagine of and pick either generated championships that go harder and harder or your own created championships. Over time you earn money and can buy some better cars and hire trained engineers that keep your car alive and install handy upgrades.

Graphics, sounds and physics are a impressive step and don't need overkill hardware. Recently, VR support was added which I find fancy. I haven't one of those VR-headsets yet, though.

Be aware that DiRT Rally is pretty much deep and demanding, therefore I'd rather call it a simulator, a tough one. There's no map, just You, the Co-driver and the car. Not all the damage can be repaired at once and it even decreases the earnings if you decide to restart. There's only one try for the online time trials also. In the other hand, you can activate driving aids if you need to.
It's important to find the most comfy steering method and the car's tuning for you. Keep a cool head and take breaks over time.

Do you love cars and won't mind a bunch of dirt? Would you accept the challenge? Get it.

Perfection is not enough to describe this game, it is everything i always wanted, nothing beats it NOTHING!, i love everycar, every track, yes it is REALLY hard but i love it because it really chaleges me, and that is what rally is about, pushing the driver and car to the limit, it is a masterpiece in everyway possible, car selection, tracks, details, graphics, sound, phisics... i could be here talking about how the game is good forever so just imagine rally heaven and dirt rally is it.

this must be the best rally simulator there is on the market now, i just want some vehicles to be added in the future:
-Flat 6 Porsches
-6 cylinder BMW's
-Older generations of lancer evo's
-Peugeot 205 (not the high end that is already in it)
-Volkswagen Golf MK1

Overall awesome game!!!

First thing to say about this game is, it looks really gorgeous. Despite the fact that my laptop has mediocre hardware, I could maintain a stabilized 60+ fps on high settings (i5 4200H, GTX850M, 8gb 1600 mHz RAM). The game itself needs your dedication to improve simultaneously so it really is not a casual gamer's dream. Game mechanics are jaw droppingly detailed and hard to keep up. It's been 2+ hours into this game but I couldn't figure out how the hell to keep the car on the road (I couldn't do better than 4th in a casual event in "clubman" AI difficulty). If you played earlier games of DiRT series, this is a lot different from the previous games. This is better in every single way and challenges you to spend hours to improve yourself. I can't deny the fact that it really expects you to improve upon it but it really is an amazing game. The variety of vehicles, classes and tracks could be expanded but, hey, it is still in development and I'm pretty sure, over the time, it will be even better. Would fall off the cliff 5 times a race again, 9/10.
