What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“More things are constantly being added and the experience will change over time. It's less beta testing at this point and more expanding on the game, although bugs and glitches are inevitable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Most likely for several months, but it will depend on what the community thinks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current final release goal is to improve graphics, upgrade networking functionality, create more content and provide full Windows, OSX and Linux support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is completely playable with hours and hours of content to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will remain free, but the abilities provided by Gold may change. Nothing that will make the game pay to win, however.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Throughout all of the development so far popularly recommended ideas have been added to the game. This will continue through the Steam release with the forums. The Steam Workshop could also be integrated to allow the community to create their own content. Polls are widely used to gauge community interest in various ideas.”

About This Game

Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and tons of features are based entirely on feedback:

Fortification:
Players can build massive forts out of structural building blocks, or build onto smaller buildings in the world with barricades. It is also possible to create traps and intricate electronic systems. More options for building are constantly being added based on what the community requests.

Survival:
It is entirely possible to live off the wilderness by harvesting trees and rocks, growing crops and hunting animals down. What sort of survival stuff is added is entirely decided by the community.

Explore:
The game goes where the community wants it to. The initial release map is set on the lovely Prince Edward Island, but over the next few months many more locations will arrive for players to explore depending on what the community wants to see. Currently the island has plenty of interesting locations to discover and loot.

Bandits:
Players can choose to enter player versus player servers and battle other players to steal their gear. Banditry is highly supported with plenty of weapons and sneaky devices.

Heroes:
Players can join player versus environment servers to team up with other people, and easily create clans to play with their pals.

Early Access:
This is the first public release of the game, but new features and content are constantly getting added as a result of community feedback. You can see how far the game has come with the help of the community since the original testing prototype:

This game isn´t a regular "Early Access Game" because Nelson Sexton updates this awesome game more than 10 times in a week, and does his best to fix bugs etc.
-Also you can go for co-op and it´s free, can this game get better?

My friend and I join a PVP server

We found a set of axes

We tell everyone to beware the lumberj-axe

I see someone

I axe him a question

He makes fun of my axe-ent

I swing at him with my axe

"Wood you cut it out"

His friend sees the body and wanted the f-axe

I told him it was an axe-ident

He didn't believe me, so I ran towards the group of wooden sh-axe across the train tr-axe

I went inside and locked the door behind me so he couldn't axe-ess the room

But suddenly, he reports me for h-axe

I plead: "I'm not axe-tually hacking"

He does not believe me.

I am banned.

A 16 year old made a game better than most of the F2P games on steam (expect tf2). Think about that for a second.

It features:
Survival Gameplay
Zombies
Realistic shaders
Servers
Open world levels.

Wow.

Hello, here are my thoughts and review for this game called "Unturned" currently in Early Access.

Now here is why the game is great

1.Gets updates everyday if not everyday then still every week for sure.

2.It's free it doesn't cost 60 dollars and more importantly it doesn't take a lot of time for people to download this game cause it isn't 100 gb like every game now the size is actually less then 100 mb.

3.The dev cares for the community listens to people's ideas and more importantly the dev cares for his "game" not the "money".

4.It's not paytowin not even a tiny bit, yes you can buy a premium dlc but it doesn't effect the freetoplay player base cause the premium effect is only applied to premium servers which no freetoplay can join of course premium players can play on normal servers but they will not have any of the advantages in those servers.

5.The game play is also very great it's really very fun searching for food,weapons and other stuff and the skill point system is also great, there is also a option to use "thirdperson" view.

6.The graphics aren't the best but they aren't the worst for sure, the graphics are just okay actually and pretty bearable.

7.Gun customization yes it has gun customization! You can attach silencers,scopes,grips etc, it also has character customization! which is also a great feature.

8.Game is going in a good direction the dev know's what he is doing and what his plans are for future unlike the most other "Early access" crap the dev's don't pretty much even know what they want to do or are doing.

9.The area of the game is thankfully pretty big which can lead to good places to build your base and fun searches for loot!

10.Cars really? yes i said cars i did, driving is not the best but it's not worst it's quite fine actually.

11.It has a crafting system which is pretty neat, but you might get a lot of confused at first when crafting thankfully there are guides to help you get through that.

12.Sound's for guns and cars and all sort of that stuff are pretty neat and feel pretty realistic.

Now let's go to the bad stuff

1.It's unoptized it might lag in your computer but the dev is always trying to optimize more and more over time.

2.Hackers yup hackers not everyone in this game is a hacker for sure, but you might see a few hackers in your game trying to make you're experience bad but the game now has valve anti cheat VAC which i think has helped ban quite a lot of hackers.

3.Most of the community is very unfriendly you will see a lot of naked man with knifes trying to kill you for stuff, also i recommend taking a look at you're back you're friend might be trying to......

4.The net code is not so good actually, you will experience quite lag on most server's but the dev is always improving it, thankfully it does have a option to play solo.

5.Work in progress i'm still writing more over time.

Conclusion=
What the hell are you really waiting? it's already way better then the other Early Access crap that's been put it to steam these days and even more importantly it's full free it doesn't cost you 60 dollars and it has a bright future, just click the play button and start having fun!

TL;DR

This game is a great sandbox survival game where you can construct houses, kill zombies, scavenge for supplies, store the stuff you find and in multiplayer modes, fight against or with other players for supplies and survival. The graphics are not the fanciest that can be found out there, but it's because of the pure and unique style this game has. A moderately complicated crafting system is also present. If you like survival MMOs, this game is for you. There's also a singleplayer mode for a more peaceful experience.

1. The Actual Review

When I downloaded this game, I wasn't really expecting much, especially because my brother recommended it and most of games he likes, I don't. But it was a huge blast when I noticed how complex and how challenging this game actually is, especially in multiplayer modes. You can carry both a primary and secondary weapon (in the beta version 3.0, which is way better than 2.5), which are basically a rifle/shotgun/assault rifle as a primary and a melee/pistol as a secondary weapon. You can also find clothes, helmets, backpacks, food, water, and did I say HELMETS?! and many more items that will help you to survive longer by providing more space to carry more items, healing and protection.

2. Pros and Cons

Pros
- Huge sandbox experience;
- Decent amount of items;
- Difficult to survive when you are not experienced;
- In multiplayer, you will actually do anything not do die because the death penalty is high (this can be a con for some, but I really love games where you are actually afraid of dying);
- The dev takes good care of the game and updates frequently with new content and fixes (about 3 times a week);
- Good crafting system;
- You can create your own maps;

Cons
- The community is generally friendly but can be annoying depending on the server you join;
- Singleplayer gets very easy and boring after some time;
- The beta branch of the game sometimes experience a few game-breaking glitches that are, most of times, solved quickly.

3. Personal Experiences

>Second day playing multiplayer, naked, because I died in the previous day;
>Some guys who like to play as cops at stratford point guns at me complaining I'm commiting a crime by walking naked;
>I get a death penalty
>A mysterious sniper takes down the tree guys from a distance and I leave the place alive
>Mysterious sniper turns out to be a guy with a farmer's hat and military gear
>He gives me some food, water and orders me to carry a few things for him
>Minutes later, after helping him out a bit, I find a swiss knife and hide it from the mysterious sniper
>Fearing he will kill me after I have a considerable amount of stuff, but no weapons and that he's using me as a packmule, I backstab him in the head
>get all his gear and he comes at me, naked and carrying a rifle a few minutes later
>Rek him again

10/10 would rek the mysterious sniper again

>After one week and recently dying, I have a supressed sniper and a few things;
>I see a group of 3 full-geared guys with nightvisions and rare military weapons;
>I take one out with a headshot and the others try to hind behind a tree, but they're still in my line of sight;
>I take the other two guys out and start being called aimbot by the whole group
>They start to say in the world chat where they died
>as I'm taking their gear, a guy that barely has clothes hits me with a sledgehammer in the head twice and I die
>I respawn and go desperately try to retrieve my stuff
>Give up when I notice there's about 15 players fighting for the loot with snipers, grenades and assault rifles

10/10 would start a war again

There were many other epic moments that I wish I could tell, but my review will get too long! Do get the game if you like this genre and don't get very mad when you die!

That's one of the best free2play games i've ever played since now.
The simple making of the world and the complex system to survive is just amazing.
In my opinion it's a mix of Minecraft and DayZ.
I love it and i'll continue playing this game.

Step 1: Get on a server with a couple of your friends.
Step 2: Build a small house on the map.
Step 3: When someone shows up at your house you kill him.
Step 4: Many more waves of people in groups of two show up at your house and you kill them.
Step 5: Someone shows up at your house with grenades.
Step 6: They blow up you and your house.
Step 7: Your friend later finds out is was a misunderstanding with the biggest faction on the server.
Step 8: You think to yourself that that kinda means you’re the strongest faction on the server.
Step 9: You ally the biggest faction on the server and move your base to a new location on the map.
Step 10: One of your friends joins them as an inside man, they don’t know that.
Step 11: The biggest faction on the server moves their base right next to yours.
Step 12: Admins spawn in a ton of logs for the biggest faction on the server so their base can be huge.
Step 13: You and your friends decide to move your base after their was a server wipe.
Step 14: You build your foundation a log off for the day.
Step 15: You log on to realize that the biggest faction on the server has moved their base next to yours again.
Step 16: You and your friend decide you have had enough of them and want to destroy them.
Step 17: As the biggest faction on the server goes off on a loot run your friend chainsaws their base down as you’re a lookout.
Step 18: You set up in a town.
Step 19: The biggest faction on the server sends all their troops to kill you.
Step 20: While you’re away your friend kills of all of them including their leader.
Step 21: Their leader rage quits.
Step 22: You and your friend destroy their new base.
Step 23: You decide that’s enough PvP and you go to play single player.
10/10 Would play again.

Super great zombie smacking survival fun!
... and, it's completely free!

It's a bit like many other early access zombie game you see here on Steam, but this one is actually entertaining! Here's why:

+ Smooth gameplay
+ Nice enviroments
+ Large variety of weapons and other items
+ The sound of hitting a zombie is the most satisfying thing ever
+ A well-designed crafting and experience system
+ Character customization
+ You can choose between "Bloody" and "Peaceful" (if there is blood or not)
+ CARS!!!
+ And ooh, did I already mention that it is FREE? ;)

Well, not really absolutely completely free, you see, you can buy a Gold Premium Access thingy, that allows you to get more customization, play on Gold-only servers and give double EXP and loot drops. Five dollars for that may sound like too much, I don't know, but it supports the developer (who, in fact is a 17 year old programmer. Yeah, he did it all by himself. What an awesome guy! :D)

I'd rate this game 9/10, and am eagerly waiting for future updates. Keep 'em coming Nelson! :)

okay
This game is simply awesome because of the graphics (no that's a joke but I prefer a game like this one than a crappy one made with cryengine). Take minecraft for the craft, dayZ for every survival aspects and take a tremendous coop dimension and you'll get UNTURNED. This game is amazing for two aspects:
On the one hand the game is good because it's open-world/sandbox, full of weapon (knifes, axes, bats, and don't forget m16, ak, guns and everything to enjoy). The craft aspect is truly large and opened (from the rags to the home floor or roof); you can use everything you find to create another one. And the loots are really interestings because for the mass of tools, clothes and surely weapons.
But on the other hand this game is tremendous cause of the social aspect: you could find a friendly spanishboy that will stab you when you dont look at him. And when you play with a friend the game reaches the state of masterpiece. You will feel you fight for your own life as in the truth and be frightened whenever you see another player (the funniest is when you have an overcrowded server).
To sum up it's the best free2play game available on steam. So support the young creator of this state of the art game by buying the gold upgrade.

I DO recommend this game! My hours probably tell you how much fun i have on this game and yes, the game does have it ups and its downs but in the end, it's a really fun game to play once you get some friends on here and find a good server :D

Pros: easy to run, diverse items/vehicles/gameplay styles
Cons: abussive admins, (some) hacks (very few tho) and occasional server lag.
DISCLAIMER: none of these cons are faults of the creator but of the players who treat this game wrongly :(

First off I will say that I love the game, however it only very rarely provides the gameplay experience that you'd expect and if you can't have a group of 2 or more people playing with you I really wouldn't bother playing it.

Multiplayer on a server where you don't have friends is pretty much pointless and singleplayer in this game is boring as hell.

The game itself is great, pretty decent crafting and base building system, loot respawn works a million times better than Day Z or H1Z1 and the hit detection on Zombies is pretty spot on. It has a nice little skill system that you can level up, I think the skill loss on death is a bit high but besides that its pretty solid.

Now onto the main crux, multiplayer.

The multiplayer works great, I experience no lag so thats good. Hit detection on players seems to be very spotty. Base building is largely pointless unless you have a lot of people and can make a big multi walled metal base. It seems very easy to raid bases atm.

The main problem with this game (like all survival games) are the Killing on Sight of new spawns and camping the best gear locations to kill anyone trying to gear up.

The map is too small and there are not enough gear spawn locations to allow people to get competitive and once you're geared there is nothing to do but shoot people.

Great game for a few hours with friends, beyond that you'll find yourself getting frustrated with it and giving up (unless you find camping empty loot spots to kill players fun)
