What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“More things are constantly being added and the experience will change over time. It's less beta testing at this point and more expanding on the game, although bugs and glitches are inevitable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Most likely for several months, but it will depend on what the community thinks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current final release goal is to improve graphics, upgrade networking functionality, create more content and provide full Windows, OSX and Linux support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is completely playable with hours and hours of content to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will remain free, but the abilities provided by Gold may change. Nothing that will make the game pay to win, however.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Throughout all of the development so far popularly recommended ideas have been added to the game. This will continue through the Steam release with the forums. The Steam Workshop could also be integrated to allow the community to create their own content. Polls are widely used to gauge community interest in various ideas.”

About This Game

Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and tons of features are based entirely on feedback:

Players can build massive forts out of structural building blocks, or build onto smaller buildings in the world with barricades. It is also possible to create traps and intricate electronic systems. More options for building are constantly being added based on what the community requests.

It is entirely possible to live off the wilderness by harvesting trees and rocks, growing crops and hunting animals down. What sort of survival stuff is added is entirely decided by the community.

The game goes where the community wants it to. The initial release map is set on the lovely Prince Edward Island, but over the next few months many more locations will arrive for players to explore depending on what the community wants to see. Currently the island has plenty of interesting locations to discover and loot.

Players can choose to enter player versus player servers and battle other players to steal their gear. Banditry is highly supported with plenty of weapons and sneaky devices.

Players can join player versus environment servers to team up with other people, and easily create clans to play with their pals.

Early Access:
This is the first public release of the game, but new features and content are constantly getting added as a result of community feedback. You can see how far the game has come with the help of the community since the original testing prototype:

Early Access Review
The game itself is fantastic. The community on the other hand is garbage. Only servers without admins are playable. The admins for this game are almost universally children who are sore losers and will spawn themselves items and teleport to you if you kill them. This is a DayZ style game, dying is part of it. But losing everything you've spent hours getting to somebody who simply outplayed you is expected. However, an admin should be playing the most legitimately. This is simply not the case. They will teleport behind you and blast you in the back of the head with a shotgun. They are the most corrupt players I have encountered. And I am including hackers. Hackers in this game are more fun to play against than an admin. Even if you follow all the rules, if the admin doesn't like you for whatever reason. You are going to die. Servers with admins are like having to walk on eggshells. Every person you see could be an admin, and god forbid you kill an admin. Ten seconds later all you will hear is a "Blam" now you're dead. Why? Because people in administrative positions in this game are nothing more than squeaking children. Or manchildren who cannot stand to lose. And this abuse of power will usually be followed by degenerate badmouthing.

TL;DR: Play the game, don't play on severs with admins.

Real Review:

This game is really fun and it's freaking FREE. What more could you ask? This game was created by Nelson Sexton who was 16 at the time. Talented. The improvements that have been made to this game have been substantial within the past years. I think whenever I try to describe it to my friends, I compare it to like a Minecraft with guns, without as much crafting. It's a survival, apocolyptic style game. You can either go single player and test yourself alone, or you can join servers where you can either team up, gain trusts of other groups and join them, create a survival team, or get killed on sight by Bandits or be a bandit. You will roam town to town searching for food and drinks that hopefully are edible and nonspoiled. Zombies will be infested in every town. So look carefully for that assault rifle or military knife to fend yourself against them. HAHA if only! Until then, you will have a higher chance of using rakes, butcher knives and baseball bats. Still not happy with it? Find some nails, rope and glue and make a makeshift bat that has nails in it. Find axes in the fireman or find some luck in the police headquarters and get yourself a Colt .45 and a bulletproof vest. You're gonna want to make a move, so find a gas tank and a car or walk. Don't feel like doing either? Cut down some trees with your axe and start crafting. It takes a while, but bases have to start somewhere. The life of Unturned.

Ok I am new to this review thing so I'll try to make it short and sweet without boring you.

UNTURNED (Preview)
The game where you don't really need to work hard but you "do" need to work hard because there's always those new kids who ran across a load of equipment and got it taken away by you but then there's those who know how to play better than you and they take away "your" new stuff :). Really great gameplay for a free game, but others may say different. I myself and a lot of others would say it's not always the graphics that make a game great, but that it's the gameplay and storyline and all the little things that draw your attention like workshop items which include a lot of things like maps, guns, clothes, vehicles, etc. It has the feel to Dayz but Minecraft at the same time and is playable to those who could only dream to play big survival games because lack of the funds to be in the big league gaming computers, but other than that lets go to the Pro's and Con's.

-Gameplay of the game and flow.

-Workshop compatibility and simplicity of use to those who want to start producing items to those who professionally produce items.

-Ability to jump right into a server or game and get destroyed by a kid younger than yourself. Doesn't take much to play well.

-A well made group system to keep and eye on your team and foil your plans to smash your friends, that is unless you have a grenade. :P

-Constant new updates and content added weekly or daily keeping the game interesting and open to optimization.

-Overall fun and competitive sport with friends and the community.

-The occasional kid or "adult" who thinks he/she is a professional gamer or game reviewer, who thinks their thoughts are everyone's and that because the game is blocky, and not sculpted from the microscopic level, it is a terrible game and shouldn't be supported. -_-

Well I hope my review didn't take too long to read. If you did take the time to read I thank you and recommend you to check this game out, and I hope I see you unturned and thriving in the world of Unturned. :)

V 3.0

Heres about how it goes.
Day 1: Scrounge around the map as a homeless guy looking for a weapon and food
Day 2: Scrounge around the map as a homeless guy looking for a weapon and food
Day 3: Scrounge around the map as a homeless guy looking for a weapon and food
Day 4: Yay! You found a gun and food!
Day 5: Get Stacked With Loads Of Items
Day 6: Start to make a base
Day 7: You finished your base! You can now travel around the map and kill everyone, therefore getting more stuff.
Day 8: You now have every item in the game! You are invencible!
Day 9: You walk out of your base, and as you emerge from inside, a fresh spawn in a car runs you over, looting all of your items, and then going into your base because you conveniently died with the door open. You rage quit because of all of the items you lost, and you plan on never playing Unturned again.
Day 10: Scrounge around the map as a homeless guy looking for a weapon and food

Would rage quit again..
Oh and trust me. You will also die again ;p
