What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“More things are constantly being added and the experience will change over time. It's less beta testing at this point and more expanding on the game, although bugs and glitches are inevitable.”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“Most likely for several months, but it will depend on what the community thinks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current final release goal is to improve graphics, upgrade networking functionality, create more content and provide full Windows, OSX and Linux support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is completely playable with hours and hours of content to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will remain free, but the abilities provided by Gold may change. Nothing that will make the game pay to win, however.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Throughout all of the development so far popularly recommended ideas have been added to the game. This will continue through the Steam release with the forums. The Steam Workshop could also be integrated to allow the community to create their own content. Polls are widely used to gauge community interest in various ideas.”

3.1.5.0 Update Notes

Hello!

These are patch notes for the preview branch, not what's currently default. If you're interested in testing this you can join with the password "OPERATIONMAPLELEAF"

EDIT: Oops, this accidentally overwrote the 3.1.4.0 Update Notes from yesterday. 3.1.4.0 added a ton of features such as voice chat.

The new server performance tools added in this update will make it a lot easier to determine what needs to be optimized most, and hopefully even after the tweaks in this one you'll notice some boosts especially regarding zombies. I believe I've tracked down one of the core issues, but it's something to do with Steamworks library that I'll have to ask Valve about.

Additions:

  • Added some new tools to profile the server which will allow some crazy optimizations!
  • Added new systems to make zombies not congo-line quite as much.
  • Added new singleplayer item respawn system that functions similarly to the singleplayer zombie respawns.
  • Added volume propety to barrels.
Improvements:
  • Optimized animation performance.
  • Optimized server-side hitboxes.
  • Optimized server-side physics.
  • Optimized some performance issues caused by lag compensation.
Tweaks:
  • Reduced volume of silencer.
Fixes:
  • Fixed zombie respawning system going way too fast.
  • Fixed zombies respawning near other zombies in multiplayer.
  • Fixed zombies not damaging players due to a quick patch from last night.
  • Fixed zombies sometimes wandering away and then becoming impossible to alert.
  • Fixed dedicated servers not correctly loading zombie data.
  • Fixed a crash with the chat.
  • Fixed a crash related to zombie movement.
From the sounds of things you guys like the zones idea! I'm not sure if I'll have one in my maps, but certainly it should be a feature at some point either in the editor or perhaps something buildable in game?

The next few days are shaping up to be quite busy with non-Unturned stuff, but hopefully a reasonable number of things can get done. Specifically I really want to get the grouping system in before the end of the month! :)

Thanks for reading!

3.1.3.0 Update Notes

Hello!

These are patch notes for the preview branch, not what's currently default. If you're interested in testing this you can join with the password "OPERATIONMAPLELEAF"

One thing I'm excited about that was worked on today is the ability to cut navigation data. It's not finished yet, but what it is it means that when barricading is added the zombies will be able to navigate around barricades rather than just eating them every time!

Additions:

  • Added PvP command.
  • Added PvE command.
  • Added entirely new zombie spawning system for singleplayer that dramatically improves performance (especially on large maps) and doesn't respawn zombies near the player.
  • Zombies wander away when a player leaves them behind.
  • Added the Red Dot Scope.
  • Added new death screen.
  • Added cause of death information.
  • Added extra fallbacks in case of missing files.
Improvements:
  • Seperated input simulation from physics update rate.
  • Improved physics and ragdoll quality.
  • Improved zombie performance and ability to move around the environment.
  • Improved zombie clothing generator to allow shirt/pants chance parameter.
  • Improved editor painting tools especially when painting in areas with objects.
  • Blood splatters in the same direction as the damage applied.
Tweaks:
  • Increased navigation graph accuracy.
  • Increased zombie spawn and respawn rate.
  • Increased distance between 8x scope and camera.
  • Reduced amount of blur.
  • Reduced volume of menu music.
Fixes:
  • Fixed desync caused by going prone and out quickly.
  • Fixed the server-side aim not syncing with the dual render scopes.
  • Fixed a bug that submerged the map in water.
  • Fixed zombie loot table field.
  • Fixed zombies walking down slopes.
  • Fixed editing bounds area of maps.
  • Fixed breaking tables buttons when no table exists.
  • Fixed ragdoll when mauled by a zombie.
  • Fixed a crash caused by dead zombies.
  • Fixed dryer hitbox.
  • Fixed spelling of successfully in a ton of files.
  • Fixed savedata getting included in the Shared depot.
If you're having issues getting zombies to spawn on your map make sure to add a navigation graph in the environment tab. This basically provides the zombies with the information they need to chase you.

Thanks for reading!

About This Game

Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and tons of features are based entirely on feedback:

Fortification:
Players can build massive forts out of structural building blocks, or build onto smaller buildings in the world with barricades. It is also possible to create traps and intricate electronic systems. More options for building are constantly being added based on what the community requests.

Survival:
It is entirely possible to live off the wilderness by harvesting trees and rocks, growing crops and hunting animals down. What sort of survival stuff is added is entirely decided by the community.

Explore:
The game goes where the community wants it to. The initial release map is set on the lovely Prince Edward Island, but over the next few months many more locations will arrive for players to explore depending on what the community wants to see. Currently the island has plenty of interesting locations to discover and loot.

Bandits:
Players can choose to enter player versus player servers and battle other players to steal their gear. Banditry is highly supported with plenty of weapons and sneaky devices.

Heroes:
Players can join player versus environment servers to team up with other people, and easily create clans to play with their pals.

Early Access:
This is the first public release of the game, but new features and content are constantly getting added as a result of community feedback. You can see how far the game has come with the help of the community since the original testing prototype:

Unturned is where DayZ meets Minecraft. It's developed by a 17 year old Canadian who is connected to the community and committed to updating/patching regularly. The game, while still in development, has a lot going for it. There's a lot of items, a good crafting system, skills to boost, and a survival system.

My complaints so far are the zombies are too slow and easy to kill and the map itself is rather small. I would also like to see some custom server options to address these issues. Also this game doesn't seem like it would be much fun single player. The human element really adds to survival games like this.

I do like what I see and so I bought the DLC to throw some money to the dev for his fun, free game. I consider it an investment for further growth.

So do I recommend it? Yes. Grabs some friends and try it out. It's free so you have nothing to lose. Then keep your eye on the development and we will see where this goes. Who knows maybe I'll see you out there. You'll know it's me when you see a guy wearing nothing but a chef's hat, and is tripping out of his mind, and clenching a sledgehammer menacingly. You know what? You might want to go the other direction. He's weird.

What can I say about this game?

If you love minecraft and and same games to it, you will love Unturned game. I've tried it myself and still making up my mind to go for the gold premium membership ;) The game itself is worth of the 5€, 5$ to support the developer so course here are my cons and pros for the game to make you find helpfull to decide if you want to get it and try it. Don't let my hours of play confuse you because i do love play this game.

Pros :

+Free to play
+Simmilar to Minecraft
+5€, 5$ gold membership (buy once, you keep it with no monthly subscription)
+Driving
+Unlimited resources everytime you start new game (single player)
+Crafting (from items to food and farming)
+Building (collect usefull items for yourself to survive)
+Killing zombies & Hunting animals
+Steam Achievements
+Multi-player & Co-op
+Stats
+Addicted (at least for those who love survival games)
+Co-op with hamachi friends

Cons :

- Everytime you die you loose stats (sometimes half, sometimes all)
- Still needs allot of work on the game servers (doesn't connect to all so you need a bit of luck)
- Game could use a large world map because this map is not big enough

I think that's all i have to say about this game. Try it for yourself and some of you will enjoy but some not. Feel free to comment on the pros and cons that i've write about it.

Time for me to go farm my crops, build a base and use a sledge hammer to kill zombies ;)

A great sandbox zombie survival game, which can be very challening, especially at the start. With a great developer constantly bringing out updates and listening to the community and working on putting this on the steam work shop, if you play this and there's something missing from the experience then you can bet it will be added in time. The gameplay can begin to get a little dull if you are playing by yourself for a long period of time or several gameing sessions but just wait a few weeks and you'll get right back into it. PLaying with friends adds a whole new level, it's fun just being able to share resources and set each other tasks while trying to avoid your ankles being gnawed off by zombies. For a free game this is truly fantastic and a must get for almost anyone.

10/10 would die to own barbed wire repeatedly again.

EDIT: Beta test password is Operationmapleleaf (yay)
TL;DR: I spent 24 hours on this game. A day. And it's made by a 17 year old. That's when you know it's good. 9/10

Unturned is a zombie survival game running on the Unity game engine. It has so far earned over a million dollars (?) in the one piece of unnecessary DLC it has. The fact it's made by a 17 year old amazes me. It is a FPS Zombie survival game that is very much like DayZ except I'll be damned if there is one straight circle in this game. The loot system is as follows: guns are abundant (not in hardcore mode) and a katana can be found almost anywhere, while you can kiss medicine goodbye. However due to recent updates of which I currently am searching the beta code of, the loot system is going to be remastered so even finding a police baton in a police station will be rare. There are multiple pieces of apparel in the game that you can wear, a selection of faces, skin colours, hair styles, hair colours and heaps of hats. New maps can be made in a special creator (SOON) and give unlimited possibility to this game (Downside is cheating in military grade items and camping, probably going to turn off sync items). Also, it is actually getting a story, which is neat. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros
- Made by a 17 year old and is one of the most played games on steam
- Hours of fun
- Piles of different items
- Actual survival (health, hunger and thirst bar)
- Runs 60 fps on your nans 40 year old rig
- Weighs 300mb
- 2560x1440 resolution (or more for you 2-3 screen gamers out there)
- Zombies spout blood like they exploded a bottle of ketchup
- FPS counter
- MINIMAL crashes for an early access game

Cons (around 3 of them are actually very bad, others are endurable)

- Can't see your nan in a chair at night
- Little medicine, lots of guns
- I will laugh if you tell me there is a circle in this game
- Kicked for flying a car of a hill in singleplayer
- More sources of light at night are needed
- Cars in general
- The absurd lethality of a katana over a bullet from a colt to the head
- Ammo in general
- No seriously we need more night vision goggles
- Guns in general
- Absolutely no idea where to get gasoline and how to use it until you look on poorly made wiki
- Zombies in general
- Swimming

9/10, good game lad!
Recommend to all!

Unturned is a game where you play as a survivor in multiplayer or singleplayer. With alot of content especially for a FREE game (this is not a freemium) though i did buy gold DLC for the extra customizations. The world is relativly small but has enough content for me to still want to play the game after 51 hours. The map is going to be upto 16 TIMES bigger and have a level editor and something that as a hoster for servers dedicated servers with VAC (valve anti cheat).

Now the performence for this game is quite low ( i have a nvidia gtx 660) And when its on medium graphics i get around 70FPS which is of course playable however when on max I get around 30-25 FPS. In the next update however this will be fixed by the amount of polygons being reduced alot.

Modding will also be integrated in thte 3.0 update which I for one am totally hyped for seeing what the community can come up with!

All in all it's a good game and at no cost I would entirely reccomend this to you for a quite challenging survival game and have a blast with your mates.

very positive experience playing with my frined but other bigger servers are full of hackers. Simply saing and copying links how to get free gold premium and how to get teleport etc. shortly need sa better anti cheat.

But yhea.. i Truly like this game played it for hours... Strongly reccomend!

PS. it would be good if u could crate 2 or 3 different worlds and also delete them, couse when i want to start over ill have to just leave my base drop items and ignore this place.. it would be very nice if you could delete and greate new worlds.

Unturned:
Yup, it's another zombie-survival game, but just because it's traits aren't different, doesn't mean it's a bad game. The graphics are strange, but they're better than many other free games and even some paid ones. Solo is fun, but it does get boring pretty fast sadly. In multiplayer you have 2 choices---> 1: Join a random PvP server or PvE server and meet-up with 99% jerks---> 2: Join a friend's server or create your own, where you can play with or against your friends.
I personally have done both. What I have found (some is based on opinion) are that random servers tend to be more laggy, especially on my computer. The random ones also tend to have NO SUPPLIES EVER!!! I'm NOT saying it wasn't fun. It was fun! The good parts about the random server are the extra challenge, which yes is VERY difficult to overcome these overpowered opponents, but possible. You can also play the hiding game, where you stealth around and try to kill your overpowered opponents with strategy such as: Using a horde of zombies on them, Making them bleed with a trap, or sneaking up on them and shooting them in the face 50 times with the worst gun in the game. OPTION 2: Playing with friends! I personally found this to be A LOT more fun! There are various mini-games you can play as well. PvE is also a good time! Although I did get bored fairly quickly, it was fun watching my team-mate derp around in a horde of zombies.
Suggestions:
- Create-Your-Own worlds, cars, etc.
- Make the bridge lead to a city area, with MANY more zombies, but better loot.
- Make the arena better in some way
- Make alternate game-modes.
- Add bikes, moter-cycles, and ATV's that go VERY FAST, but you fall off if you hit a zombie and it breaks down faster (A LOT of damage when hitting a zombie).
Overall:
This game made me want to cry when I first played it. I wish I could feel the same feeling of when I first played it! I hope the creator adds some new spicy stuff, including the create-your-own stuff that he is already doing (I think). The game is difficult at first, but you as a player can adapt. This game is VERY GOOD!!!
Personal Rating: 4.5 Stars (Free Game Personal Rating)

This is a highly reccomened game for those who just absolutely love First-Person survival games, such as "The Forsest", "DayZ" and "Minecraft". What I love about this game is that it is your classic survival game, with the classic Thirst, Hunger, and Health bar,at the bottom of the screen, the ability to craft needed items, and the fun of just simply trying to survive. Another thing that I personally love about this game is the hard work and effort the creator put into making this game. Not many people know this, but "Nelson" used to make games on a popular website titled "Roblox", and when you played any of his games you could see, and feel the effort and time put into the game. I would definately give "Unturned" a 25 out of 20. ;D

Now All these zombie games and apocalipses (Again sorry if words are mispelled) are getting really on my nerve, But for me I dont believe in such thing will happen but its fun to play games about them like Unturned which is a game that has many errors and good things but first i will cover how i feel about it them the good and finnaly the bad. Alright lets get started, Unturned a roblox, Minecraft, Day Z Explostion much like the Inplostion i dont belive in "The big bang" You take all these good or great games and you got yourself Unturned which is a free playing game on survival of the fittest which can be annoying at some times. This game may be good but it still has it share of blemmises.
This Game is a wonder its great whe you edit the graphics to the best they can be which is beutful, and the game REALLY acts like real life where if you dont eat or drink enought you could die and f you get infected again could die, The handling is amazing and anything you do you have to do like in real life like climbing a ladder or aiming while the scope moves around, I could go on and on about how good this game is but lets look at the down side,
This game has got some problems not even a doctor can fix, for instance when you first play it you dont know what your doing, whats happening or where you are unless you read the description on dowloading the game. One big problem is the trail for it makes everything look so easy! once you join in, your in for a real treat! This game has glitches most of the places like a zombie getting on your roof if you have a way up there or them killing you instantly but seeing its pretty new i will let it pass by.
And finnaly i will start to do this now, i wil grade this game on how well it is, how bad, and how i feel on it
this game out of ten is....... 8/10 END
