What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“More things are constantly being added and the experience will change over time. It's less beta testing at this point and more expanding on the game, although bugs and glitches are inevitable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Most likely for several months, but it will depend on what the community thinks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current final release goal is to improve graphics, upgrade networking functionality, create more content and provide full Windows, OSX and Linux support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is completely playable with hours and hours of content to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will remain free, but the abilities provided by Gold may change. Nothing that will make the game pay to win, however.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Throughout all of the development so far popularly recommended ideas have been added to the game. This will continue through the Steam release with the forums. The Steam Workshop could also be integrated to allow the community to create their own content. Polls are widely used to gauge community interest in various ideas.”

In reality the majority of my work this week was on more new objects:

July 22 Update Notes

Update Notes:

  • Added acid spitter zombie.
  • Added supply airdrops.
  • Added ability to repair bases with blowtorch.
  • Added Friendly/Hostile Sentry. [IDs 1372-1373]
  • Improved fuel to store liters rather than refills.
  • Improved vehicle info to show health.
  • Tweaked bullets to travel instantly in easy mode.
  • Tweaked dirty water infection higher again now that it can be purified.
  • Tweaked Flanker zombie to be slightly more challenging.
  • Fixed chest hits to combine shirt/vest armor.
  • Fixed plane/heli exploding when reaching skybox.
  • Fixed jumping twice in the same tick.
  • Fixed generator fuel update reliability.
  • Fixed background noise in wood timber sound.
  • Fixed stuck blowtorch particles when swapping perspective.
  • Fixed burner and street light LoD.
  • Fixed airport spawning festive pants.
  • Fixed parkour hood icon.
Acid Zombie:

You can recognize this new zombie by the cyan acid foaming around its mouth. If you don't take care of it quickly enough you might find your exit path blocked by a burning puddle of acid!

Supply Drops:

When you hear the roar of a massive plane's engines you might want to turn to the sky to try and spot if it's a dropship! If you follow it you'll see a care package dropped out of the rear cargo hatch parachute down loaded to the brim with high-tier loot. The frequency of these airdrops can be setup in the config events file, and the airdrop command will force trigger one.

Friendly/Hostile Sentries:

The new friendly sentries can be used to create a safe public space because they only shoot players who pose a threat by for example having a weapon drawn. On the opposite end of the spectrum the hostile sentry is much better than the neutral one for interior base defense because it is absolutely merciless.

About This Game

Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and tons of features are based entirely on feedback:

Players can build massive forts out of structural building blocks, or build onto smaller buildings in the world with barricades. It is also possible to create traps and intricate electronic systems. More options for building are constantly being added based on what the community requests.

It is entirely possible to live off the wilderness by harvesting resources, fishing, growing crops and hunting animals down. What sort of survival stuff is added is entirely decided by the community.

The game goes where the community wants it to. The initial release map is set on the lovely Prince Edward Island, but over the next few months many more locations will arrive for players to explore depending on what the community wants to see. Currently the island has plenty of interesting locations to discover and loot.

Players can choose to enter player versus player servers and battle other players to steal their gear. Banditry is highly supported with plenty of weapons and sneaky devices.

Players can join player versus environment servers to team up with other people, and easily create clans to play with their pals.

Roomscale VR Support:

Unturned's level editor now supports the Vive! You can build the visuals of your maps using motion controllers with modes that provide the same functionality as the desktop editor, along with some special abilities like throwing objects. For non-visuals elements of the level such as data entry, spawn management or navigation baking the desktop editor is still required.

As an experienced player who has played 100's of hours in this game, I think you should get Unturned...2.0. 3.0 the games latest version is terrible. At first it was good, an upgrade from 2.0 but then came the cosmetics update, and it when down hill from there. Cosmetics come in the form of skins, weapons and clothing and even though they were not meant to provide any benefits, they did. Basically you can hide what you're wearing. So if you see a guy walking down a road he could be a naked guy with nothing of worth or a fully equipped dangerous bandit, you just dont know. This means you could end up wasting ammo on new spawns or dieing against someone with better equipment. It also means that any cosmetics around the eyes like glasses cover nightvision goggles. Nightvision goggles used to have one weakness in that they glow in the dark but now that can be easily solved. But the cosmetics are not the worst by a long shot. Sadly, because this game is free it attracts alot of kids. And these kids are the type that are just interested in tanks and planes and basically things that ruin the game. What used to be a fairly difficult zombie survival game turned into a massive PvP ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Planes, helicopters, Tanks, rocketlaunchers, zombies made easier, food and water no longer as needed, guns made more common, building cost drastically lowered and the addition of terrible zombies.

This game used too be fun. It used to be a zombie survival game. Now its just Cod with zombies... The game is so easy there is no point playing it if you're expecting DayZ without the problems. Luckily there is a 2.0 option you can choose but then you are stuck with a fun, but unfinished game. Its sad that one of my favourite games fell so fast.

To start, Nelson Sexton. A Teenage Genius who's great mind created the birth of Unturned. As a 20 year old gamer/programmer, Nelson good sir, you're an inspiration for the younger generation to learn how to program.

With 100+ hours into this game, I feel I can now give my full, honest opinon on Unturned.

While rambling around steam, looking for free-to-play games, I stumbled upon Unturned. Not knowing what to expect(keep in mind I'm not an DayZ player), I jumped right into the game, and immediately became sucked into this vaccum-sealed space called "addiction".

Unturned is often updated and optimised, allowing almost anyone, on any system specs to play this game. If you haven't tried this game under any doubt you can run it, I highly suggest you do so now; not to mention the game is LESS than 1 Gigabyte of space. Thats amazing. And as I was writing this review, another update was released.

This gives all the more reason to support the developer with the very-cheap and in-expensive $4.99 gold upgrade. Not only are you supporting the Developer, but you're getting access to gold-only servers, which have higher experience/loot rates, but you'll even get a fancy suite and monicle to show your support!

Now, with every game, you can expect some issues like, hackers, exploits, bugs, etc, yet I've honestly seen at minimal when it comes to said issues. I find the developer is taking much time to make this game the best there is, and it's truely one-of-a-kind. Some people compare it to Minecraft or ROBLOX (yes I've played it), and I honestly think of it this way... ROBLOX and Minecraft had a child. That said child is Unturned.

If you're into crafting/survival/zombie games, Unturned should be right down your alley!
I'm really not sure why it's still in Early Access though.. It's pretty official to me!

Will play any day!

This game got so much better after the few updates it had since I last played. This game is so much better now, it rivals even the high budget open world survival games, it may even be better than them now. Please do yourself a favor and get it.

A perfect blend of survival and creativity. This game is great for people with low performance computer who expect a lot from a video game. The graphics are simple so the game can run with any crappy computers with a decent fps. Unturned was one of the first free steam games I really enjoyed. Unturned also has a very open community which Nelson (creator) is always listening to. Over all great game can't wait for more features to come soon!

Another easy 100%, though it is a bit time consuming.

I know what you may be thinking "Oh great...another Minecraft", and normally you'd be right. However, even without playing Minecraft, you can see what's different. (And no, I have NOT played Minecraft)

Unturned takes away the ability to build like Minecraft originally had, but substitutes it with vehicles and combat. Of course, one could argue that this game is like Nomad, which is also free and gives you the ability to build cabins and such. Even though this game is still a clone, it's still decent. The most redeemable factor to Unturned that sets it apart from its clone counterparts is that you get drops just like in TF2....and you can put them on Steam Market for a profit.

Unturned is a decent title, but can still be boring if it's not your cup of tea (Hey, at least it's better than Voxelized. If you want a free and easy 100%, dive on in. If you want a Minecraft clone, have at it.

5/10 A nice clone that offers free achievements and items you can sell for steam cash.

This game was fun the last time I played it but now........ It's just full of annoying kids.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the game itself when it was released and still now.(don't mind the play time since I play on my other account cuz why not)

The only thing I really don't like is the fact that kids can "OWN" you in game since they
can kick you or even ban you if you kill them. I've been ban for like 3 servers in a row

All in all.. I would recommend this game if it wasn't for those annoying admin kids but nah.

It's funny and fun with friends while getting kicked and ban every time you kill an admin kid while that kid cries :3

Edit: And for those who's gonna say that I should make my own server to play with my friends, pls. It gets boring after sometime. Really wanted to meet new people my own age or older... But then again I can only see few and tons of kids who are clearly annoying. :3
