UPDATE 3.0 - Tesla + Communications Rework

This update introduces significant changes to Vander Graaf's Tesla Coil Hero Block, plus and improved way of communicating with your teammates during a match. Additionally, there have been plenty of balancing changes, which aim to make Heroes and Blocks more useful.

Tesla Coil Rework
Instead of using his Static Gloves to attack via the Tesla Coils, Vander Graaf now uses his Static Gloves to charge the Teslas.

Tesla Coils can still form a network and pass the electrical charge from one to the next (as long as they’re in range of each other). This means if you have four Tesla Coils built in a line, and the first one attacks (using its charge up to do so) the others can their pass their charge forwards to allow it to continue to attack.

This should give Vander a few more opportunities to move around the arena a little more whilst his Tesla Coils can at least launch some attacks whilst he’s not nearby. However, he will need to return to them to recharge them once they’ve fired.

Messaging and Communications
By pressing the Left Alt key you can bring up a list of different messages you can send to your team.

When you send one of these messages it will display a short line of text to let your team know you 'need a Heal Station', or to 'defend your objective'.

If you feel that there’s a message missing that would be useful for communicating with your team, then submit it here and we’ll see which ones we can get added to the game!

UPDATE 2.9 - Customs, Matchmaking & Boosts

The latest version of Block N Load brings changes to the matchmaking system which should help improve the quality of matches plus additional options for Custom Games. Of course, there are also a number of other improvements and fixes to go along with it as well.

Some of the key changes in this version include:

Custom Games
Custom Games have received some new functions to make them more interesting and easier to find players to join matches on player made maps from the Steam Workshop.

It is now possible to allow players to join a Custom Game even after it has been started, once a Custom Game has finished the host of the custom game can choose to take the game from the scoreboard back to the match setup screen, and new options to adjust the size of the Brick Wallet Cap along with the number of Bricks that each Hero starts the match with have been added.

Matchmaking
A number of changes have been made to the matchmaking systems to make them more flexible. We’ve used existing data about the people currently playing Block N Load to set the starting points for these, and hopefully you should see some better matches formed as a result.

XP Boosters
It is now possible to purchase boosters that increase the amount of XP you gain from completing matches in the in-game Shop. Each booster will run for the amount of time specified and during the time it is active will let you earn XP for your Heroes and Player Level faster.

4th of July Arena
Additionally, as this update is coming out on the 4th of July the arena "E Pluribus Unum" is making a return to Casual Mode rotation and Custom Games.

It's time to party like it's 1776!

America servers are completely empty used to be awesome before it became a heaping pile of f2p garbage. It was invaded by annoying players that didnt even bother to play or even ATTEMPT to learn how to play the game right. RIP Block N Load :/

Great game. Wish it was marketed or advertised better. I would love to see this game with a bigger fan base.

Pros-
Many characters, all vary drastically
Cool Maps that are all different
Almost no bugs
NEW competitive mode

Cons-
sometimes teammates are brazilian or portugese... THEY SPEAK SPANISH
long queue (which I feel could be reduced with better advertisement of the game)

TLDR;
This is a great game as long as you play minesweeper or watching twitch for the 5-6 minutes queue times.

Wow. Block N Load. What can I say? It's a fun game, and if you like working together with teammates, you'll love this game!

Pros

  • Completely free-to-play.
  • Many fair-and-balanced heroes.
  • Optional perks that buff an ability while debuffing another.
  • Good, addictive gameplay.
  • Most people don't really get salty.
  • You don't need huge skill in FPS games to play it well.
  • Bullets seem to be like projectiles, so that you won't get hit for no reason.
  • Many tactics you can use.
  • Balancing makes it so that there is no such thing as "Pay-to-Win" in this game.
  • Everything you get from using real money you can also get from in-game currency. (Except for skins, which barely change anything.)
  • The Ninja doesn't have generic indestructable Ninja abilities, so he's like an ACTUAL Ninja.
  • You can play with your friends!
Cons
  • There's always gonna be a small amount of people that are only there to be toxic and to grief.
  • You can only have 3 friends in a squad when playing Casual.
  • People tend to do what they want in Casual, rather than working as a team. Example: Three people go Nigel even though two people advise against it. The team loses because there is too many snipers.
  • It's easy to fall for the same trap twice.
  • Idlers.
  • That one person that never accepts the queue.

The End

All in all, this game is really fun if people cooperate and everyone is at a similar skill level. In total, I'd rate this game 7/10, which is a really good rating. (that message was directed to kids who think 8/10 = "not bad but not good either")

My thoughts: Block N Load
Well, here we are. I don't make many reviews, and I'm strict with my ratings. I'll be giving you my Pros and Cons, but here's what I think just in a small paragraph. I was skimming through the negative reviews, and I noticed a few saying things along the lines of "A rip off of minecraft". So, what I'm hearing here, is that any game with BLOCKS is minecraft? Hm. So, Terraria is a rip-off of minecraft? Think about this one. Also, a rip-off means they're charging more money for people to enjoy the game. Yes, there are purchases avalibile, but the game is F2P, while Minecraft P2P. Now, let's get into the Pros and Cons.

Pros!
1. It's free! No money needed. It's not like TF2, which is mostly P2P.
2. Good quality, runs well on a low-end PC.
3. A range of classes to choose from, as well as 3 amazing started classes.
4. Not too complicated and doesn't require skill, which is the total opposite of TF2.
5. Enough maps for my liking.
6. Endless possibilites for defence (I built a castle out of bricks. Just cosmetic)

Cons...
1. Not sure if it's just my headset, but my mic doesn't work on it.
2. Could use some more weapons.
3. Tiny chatbox.

Block N Load is a team based PVP shooter game with building blocks added for base defence. It worked, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. Has a tutorial map and video. Has free heroes in rotation. You can earn some currency to buy heroes and perks. Creative block building and mining can help in defence and offence. Maps have a destructible environment so you can tunnel your way to the enemy base. Has support class heroes. Some heroes are disadvantaged to certain game roles and experienced player will have permanent bonuses. Matches are rather long. Try it if you like games like team fortress 2 and minecraft.

Surprisingly fun. The moba-style character system actually works to keep the game interesting, and the maps are varied. A game can last anywhere from five to fifty minutes depending upon how competent your team is at building defenses during the preliminary phase. The only problems are the immature and clueless minecraft-playing fanbase and queue times (only about 1k active players). This game would be a blast with a more active community and demographic of ranked mode players.

*Sigh* This is probably going to be my first actual non-recommended review and serious review in ages.

I played Block N Load before it became "Free to Play", I loved it, it was a great game with good co-operation and tactics that made the game alot more interesting, I played with some friends and it was all good.

Then it became Free to Play, and the community just became toxic, it was fine the first 2 months but then, Russians, Trolls and 9 year olds just ruined the experience. The game just fell apart for me and it was kinda sad because I actually really liked this game :|
