Über dieses Spiel

How long has it been? A man sits in a distant getaway cabin waiting for his wife Serena. Where is she? Things in the cabin evoke memories, and the husband comes to a disturbing realization...

This short point-and-click adventure is the result of a massive collaborative effort between dozens of fans and designers of adventure games. Rallying to support the venerable genre and its passionate community, these developers have brought together a grim and highly detailed horror story in what is the largest, possibly even the first, game project of its kind. Talents include crew from renowned indie companies Senscape, CBE Software, Infamous Quests, Digital Media Workshop, Guys from Andromeda, and many more.

Features

  • A (twisted) love letter to the adventure game community
  • Over 40 contributors provided their wit and talents
  • Extremely depressive mood, and a bit of fear here and there
  • A haunting story that will challenge your intellect (and temerity)
  • Amazing voice acting by legendary adventure game designer Josh Mandel
  • More awesome acting by popular video producer Pushing Up Roses
  • Yet another overwhelmingly astonishing surprise cameo by an ex-designer from Sierra!
  • Did we mention the gut-wrenching atmosphere?

I didn't have the greastest story and also didn't have the closing story.

If you like walking simulators, you'll like this. It's entertaining enough for an hour, for free.

But it wasn't all that good, and my time would be better spent playing some other game or jerkin' the gherkin or something.

Serena is a free point and click game.
You are a man, who's obsessed by a "Serena". You look around the cabin that you're in and try and get clues about what is going on. The story is interesting, if at some point kind of annoying, since the main character does whine in some cases too much. But that can't be thrown against the game, since that decision might've been deliberate and it might've been the point.
The voice acting is truly great. Especially for a free indie game.
The sound effects are proper and well made. It just adds to the atmosphere.
The visuals are fitting, but in some cases maybe slightly too low resolution. It's still ok, if you don't focus on the floor board textures too much.
But the story... it was weird. Truly weird. Having played through this game, I still don't think that I've figured out what happened. It's definitely well made and polished quite a bit.
Do I recommend this? Oh yeah! Approximately 25-60 minutes of free entertainment is never a bad idea. Give it a shot!
Truly, one of the better Point and Click games.

Great game if you want to hear a man complain about his love life for a half hour or longer if you press esc.

Unnerving writing, ominous graphics, and a solid and unsettling conclusion.

That said, I did not like the way the game played, per se, though I understand the pace was necessary to ensure you heard the dialogue. But yes, totally worth...downloading for free.

Right off the bat this game is boring, the character's voice is lackluster (and how do you mispronounce words so simple?). Glad it was free because otherwise I'd be wanting my money back.

This game was nice for a quick rush of feelings and speculations. I had many theories about the plot at the beginning, which were demolished when he
turned from nostalgic sweet-talking to spiteful rants. It was interesting to see how his vews and the photo changed. The corpse in the armoire was too foreseeable tho, I've expected a dead body the minute I couldn't open it right away. The ending was a bit disappointing, as there would have been enough time to flee through a window or something as soon as the word "kerosin" could be heard. But nah, just stand there, wait for them to burn everything.

A psychological horror point&click game, Serena is actually one of those free indie games that are much better than you would expect them to be. The game is short, but it took a very smooth approach at storytelling, has nice graphics and quality of sound, and mainly - the wonderful atmosphere, one of the key points of which - the steady narration of the story. It would be nice to see this game growing into something bigger, extending the story and gameplay into a full-scale game. There are a few downturns (listed them lower), but the game isn't long enough for them to be significant. And yes, this is an absolute recommendation. Enjoy the game.

+ Good story
+ Good sound
+ Excellent artwork
+ Excellent narration
+ Atmosphere of a well-written book

- Sometimes can be a little confusing in terms of progressing.
- The game is a little buggy and it crushed for me a few times.
- Doesn't have the save option, so if you quit, you should start it all over again (but it is fairly short).

If you like story driven games then this is for you!
It is a nice little game which takes only about one hour of your life time, and it is worth the time.
it is a sad dark story that takes place in a cabin somewhere far from everything else.

A fun and simple game with a great story. Voice acting from Josh Mendel is fantastic. Ignore silly reviews that give no reason for disliking the game. It is a cheap, short and fun little game to pass the afternoon that will give you all the feels you could want.

Though short, I found this game to be fairly intriguing. That being said, there wasn't a lot of shock value to it, and the ending wasn't particularly stimulating, thought provoking, or emotionally engaging to me. I'd say it's worth a play as a freeware game, but don't suggest walking in with high expectations.
