There something special about a good rally game. This game is no DiRT but it stands on its own merits and with all this nonsense about GFWL breaking my copy of DiRT 2 (and being removed from steam) Showdown being rather.. not what I want. This stands as a good substitute.

- Has an interesting career mode, taking contracts and such.
- Persistant damage between races which I found to give a subtle and unique sense of immersion
- Great audio from engine sounds to co-pilot voicework

Something tells me this series has more popularity in other countries.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll get back to pretending I'm not pacing around the living room in unabated anticipation waiting for a DiRT 4 annoucement.

I'm a huge rally fan and for me, this game ticks some boxes but is lacking in key areas.

Gameplay experience is generally good, I play in the hood view and its easy to get enjoyment from the sense of speed it creates. The car set up option is also good and fairly thorough.
The handling of the cars (I use a controller) is, although, a bit sloppy and I would've liked the kind of percision evident in games like the DiRT series.

My biggest problem and the most frustrating thing about this game is the pace notes. If you arent very familiar with rally outside the gaming world, perhaps this wouldn't seem like a big thing. The pace notes in game are HORRIFICALLY inaccurate and vague. The developers clearly gave little thought to individual stages and instead recorded all the notes and threw them in haphazardly into the rallys with little thought. Many of the corners in game tighten and are rarely mentioned, to get out of recording specific stage notes, there is a chicane (left/right or right/left) note and a very vague Turn Left/ Turn Right junction note with no specific severity of bend. Without a course map it becomes extremely difficult to successfully navigate a stage as crests and tightening corners are never mentioned and its largely left to guess work.

I could go on about the various problems with this game but the fact of the matter is if youre looking for a decent rally simulator with good gameplay, great graphics, and decent gaming experience, buy DiRT.
This game has a long way to come before it can compete.

65/100

Pro:
- Official championship (teams/cars)
- Career
- No annoying unskipable career agent nor a story mode and other nonsense
- Decent enough car setup options
- Decent damage applications
- Decent voices and sounds (pace notes)

Con:
- Repetitive lazy copy&paste stages (tracks)
- Some very unrealistic tracks (Mexico) with wrong pace notes to compliment it
- Insane amount of hairpin corners and often way to tight
- Mweh physics and car handling
- Mweh graphics

I bought it @ 75% off and for that price it's an okay rally game, but just don't expect a full realistic rally sim (anno 2014 the first one still has yet to be made).

Compared to very old rally games such as the Colin McRae WRC series and even the old V-Rally this modern 2013 game has little to no improvements to show for. In Fact, the tracks in Colin McRae (10 years ago) were much better and so was the car handling and feel of realism. This rally game is an uninspired game with little to no love from the developers, it's just made for the $. Anno 2013 they could have delivered so much more then the old rally games, but amost non of that is presented here.

Overall it is still a fun race game and worth to spend at least a couple dozen hours on if you ignore the cheesy factors, hence it's still a thumbs up.

For my (as casual rally ganre game player) this was pretty nice experience within one complete career mode - cars, courses, audio and career was really nice and fun to play through, but reading through others reviews seems like I am one of few people who like this game, interesting. ^^ However, I can recommend this, I liked it!

One of the worst games I've ever played, but I love it.

I have to give it a bad review because I could not honestly recommend it to anyone. The whole package is probably one of the poorest attempts at a game, literally every aspect is lacking.

The graphics look like they are from Nintendo 64, it wouldn't be so bad for a 2007-2008 game but being from the end of 2013 we could expect MUCH better from indie games, but this is no indie, this is a full fledged "AAA-ish" game.

The sound is bad and I normally would never comment on sound but at times (particularly going under tunnels) it seems like the dev never even played their own game.

They have abandoned the whole game, within a few months of it's release the entire online aspect is shut down, achievements broken, they could care less. I get errors every race saying it failed to upload to their server, I assume at one point there was a user account system which has since been gutted out.

I was playing it last night and my friend said "where are all the other cars?", and then it dawned on me... There are no other cars. You will never see two cars on the track at the same time in this game, it's simply get to the finish line sooner than the par time.

A million other bad things I could say about the game -- it's pure garbage, avoid at all costs. However, it is fun. The driving through the courses and the vehicle physics are half decent. It really just feels like a cell phone game.

I paid $4 in the Humble Bundle and I am really enjoying my purchase, but if you paid $10 or more I would say you got ripped off, this is a cash grab and an abandoned project only a few months later. I could only imagine how mad you would be if you paid the full $30. This game should be $5 retail and it would feel like a much more honest game. I wish this had an "early access" label and the developer was continually tweaking and adding content but it's not, it's losing content as time goes by. I actually heard they de-patched it down to version 1.0...

Such a shame, too, because they clearly put some time into it. Some people say the physics are crap, but I think they nailed the physics. Not in realism, but in terms of being able to control it using a controller is basically perfect. The really sad thing is the "career mode". You would expect SOME half decent structure but it's just not there. There's a few modes: single race, single "set" of 6 races, or career, which is 6 races over and over. Finland? 6 races. Germany? 6 races. Don't expect any surprises like a set of 5 races, heaven forbid, you will get those 6 races per set. Over and over. You fix your car every 2 races, which is kind of interesting, but that's the depth of the career mode.

Pretty decent rally racing game.

Visually good enough, sounds good too, believable tracks and car handling.
Input handling is quick and precise like is necessary as well.
Plenty of setup options for cars as well.

It's solid fun for rally and racing fans and price is not too bad either.
Just remember to disable "hand-holding" in the options as first thing.

If you're here looking for Dirt 2/3, it wont be like that. It kind of reminds me of Dirt 1. Back to the roots of what rally is all about. Graphics are a bit dated, but the game as a whole is pretty awesome. I recommend it to any rally fan!

This doesn't feel nor it looks like a proper WRC title, nonetheless a game made in 2013.
The graphics are bad , the gameplay is even worse! The controls lack responsiveness and the car feels plasticky. I regret my purchase! I would definitely NOT recommend this garbage.

after playing this game for a while i do say i like this one a nice simple easy game to get in to lot of fun to play graphicly its not the beat rally game out there but i still would recomend this to all hard core rally gamers ther are a few setup options for the car and and you can damage the car in race but you can repair it at certain points in the rally also has the same feel as rally championship from the windows 95 days but a more updated version i will give this game 7/10

Still playing it, almost a year after release.

For me, the graphics look good and the sound is authentic. There's no silly challenges, just simple honest to goodness rally racing.

It's no Richard Burns Rally but it defintely picks up where the Colin Mcrae games left off. Dirt was good but went in another direction entirely. This is good fun and challenging. Along with Insane 2 (which is a bit like a quick and dirty copy of motorstorm) are are my two favourite racers.

You can pick up and play for 5 minutes or easily spend an hour or so enjoying some finger twitching rally fun.

I thought I was going to be very disappointed with this game when I first ran it but how wrong could I have been. It is simply a blast to play. Graphics are excellent. Cars drive really well. I did have to load a MOD to improve the feedback a little bit from the standard default settings to give the wheel a bit more feeling. The only draw back I can see at the moment is that there is no online game play - or I have yet to find it? Such an improvement on WRC which failed for me in all aspects of game play, graphics and wheel support. Give it a 8 out of 10 overall.

Love it. Reminds me of the days that i played Colin McRae Rally :-) Graphics could have been better, but not on my grahic card. I were worried that my r7 240 card wouldn't handle it. Grahips could been lots better, but the most important part is that it runs smothly, and the draw distance is good:-) (A tad bad graphics usually don't ruin games for me, but bad draw distance does).

Tracks are windy and challenging, and it feels like i'm driving a rally car. And unlike wrc world rally championship, this game got more realistic stages, and this game seams more realistic thanks to good draw distance :-)

If you own a laptop, do research before buying. I have a high end Asus (not new, though) and the game tells me it uses Intel chipset instead of GeForce GT 650M. As you may suspect, graphics look very meh. Tried to adjust resolution by hand and it partially worked, indicating that maybe the nVidia chipset is partially supported, but it remains unclear. Even if you don't care about the graphics (afterall, ten years ago this would be the best looking racer in the world even on low setings ;)), I also encountered huge graphical glitches (namely, sideborders jumping into the road and blocking the view).

Otherwise the game looks amateurish, but ok (tried just a few stages though). Simmilar to CMR-DIRT series. Just don't expect the polish of the Dirt or the realism of Richard Burns. I expected the stages to save the day, but the ones I saw were very arcade like - short and twisty. In fact, they would look realy weak in Dirt 2 and that says a lot... Unless there are at least 10 minutes stages in there, it is NOT a WRC game. I sincerely don't care about the authenticity of logos and driver names. All in all, happy I bought it on sale, coz it would be 30 euros pretty much wasted.
