About This Game

FortressCraft Evolved’s Survival Mode is a unique-blend of Voxel Landscapes, Tower Defense, Crafting, Logistics, Exploration, Combat and Assembly lines. Players begin by crash-landing on a strange alien world, left with only a small handful of starting machines. Using hand-held scanners they must locate ore resources, place down Ore Extractors and Conveyors to automate the raw material back to the Smelter; take the fresh ingots through multi-machine assembly lines, followed by researching new technologies that help them explore thousands of meters below the planet's surface.

An advanced HoloBase allows players to keep an eye on their factory which they must defend against waves of alien attacks with multiple tiers of missile and energy turrets. To survive they must continue to develop new and unique power systems, from solar energy to Jet Turbines, culminating in crafting an Orbital Energy Transmitter thousands of cubic meters in size, to beam power off-planet, and start the next phase of the game.

And all this with an enormous draw-distance, scalable gameplay engine that is equally at home on high-end or low-end computers, and full multiplayer support! This does not even factor in all that you can do in the Creative Mode whose only limits are your time and imagination. With an array of Super Build Tools and a high-resolution Custom Detail Block Workshop players can build anything and on a massive scale unseen in other games.

  • Experience the largest worlds ever seen in any computer game - ever!
  • Create a futuristic mining operation consisting of thousands of huge machines.
  • Full Tower-Defense style combat in a voxel universe.
  • Use hi-tech machinery to locate and process resources from thousands of meters away.
  • Explore thousands of metres vertically, overcoming ever-more difficult challenges.
  • Official Texture Pack and Mod Pack support
  • State of the art lighting and shadowing, utilising high resolution maps for machinery and environment
  • Innovative“Build to Me” Feature to facilitate rapid, accurate building
  • Shareable Creative Schematics

this game is not worth your time and much less your money.
incredibly unfinished, lacking content and any fun gameplay makes it one of my most regretted purchases.
and now they released a dlc for this rotten pile.

If you like creating, efficiency, logistics and exploration then this is the game for you. You will spend hours figuring out the best way to run your base. Get it right then have to redo it cause you need to move to a higher tier of building. You'll have to manage power output, which metals need to be transformed into wires, coils, plates and PCB's, probably more I don't know about yet cause with my time played I don't think I've reached tier 2 yet. Which all can be automated on factory like assembly line. This game can be addictive. It's the next generation of Civilization addiction imo in regards to the 1 more turn. But with smelting enough bars to craft that item or research that upgrade to progress your operation.

I noticed some reviewers don't like some of the changes, which I don't get, from what I understand the changes made added more logistical problems to solve. Which in my book is a great thing. This game has so much depth to it you just won't believe it. Oh and I forgot to mention you will have to defend your base against attacks. So yeah theres that to.

The game is a bargain at twice the price imo with the amount of content and play time I've already gotten out of it. I was lucky enough to get it on sale and bought it on a whim after reading the description of the game and watching the videos.

Highly reccomended for logistical types.

I like it, I like it alot. I like the fact that I have to learn how to build these machines to make more machines to build more things...etc. I look forward to building a huge underground factory. The only issue so far is that the game is dark, more light from all light sources would be nice...otherwise a great game.

The only real complaint i have for this game is the first few hours of this game it does feel a bit slow, but after that it gets incredibly in depth, with tons of machines already in the game and loads more being added with each patch. As of now i dont know a single game that can be compared to this other than factorio, but even then both games are quite different. The models of the machines look great, performance is usually quite good, and most of the machines are decently balanced / well put together. The help files are quite handy at times, but usually the tooltips are enough for non-complex machinery.

I do love making massive automated factories and fighting off hoards of enemies, so if you are into those things, this is definitly worth the money.

Game was great at first, then the dev decided it was too much fun and changed core elements of game to make it harder. Developer is also one of the rudest ppl you will ever come across. God help you if you need some simple advice, or direct some constructive criticism at the dev, you will attract a tirade of abuse because the dev believes he is perfect and everyone else is inferior. Buy at your own risk, just dont ask for help or point out imperfections in the game.

This game is incredibly addicting.

Theres so much to do. Its part: builder, crafter, tower defense, miner, and factory manager. The balance is well done and encourages you to min/max or just walk around and do things manually because you enjoy the scenery. The graphics are great! I personally love all the glowy bits(EVERYTHING). I reccommend a buy, it passes the price to time played test.

Also it has MINECARTS for all you track building lovers

I absolutly love this game and it would be more fun if there was something like a 'Super Storage Hopper' that can hold up to 1000 items and that`s not a multiblock machine just a normal storage hopper block and the crafting recipe would be 10 storage hoppers and a sugalite crystal. I hope that this is gonna be added cause it would be so much more efficient for automation.

Love this game! It's a awesome mix of voxel building, and survival through tower defense. If you like to design and build large complex machines on a massive scale then you'll like this game. If you like to manage those machines to get the most efficient designs, you'll like this game.

If you're really into tower defense, you might be a bit disappointed. There are a good variety of enemies, but generally all you do is build A LOT of guns around your base. The only strategy that comes into play is keeping them efficiently powered through your machines.

To win survival mode, you really need to think BIG. Expect some of your structures to expand 1,000 blocks away from your starting base (although the majority will likely be within 500 blocks). A general rule that worked for me is whenever I first build something, I make sure to leave space around it to build 4 or 5 more in the future because it seems like you always need more than you expect. You'll feel like you have a lot of empty space around, but by mid game you'll be wondering where all that space went.

One complaint I've seen people bring up is that they get bored waiting for materials to be crafted. If you're bored, you're doing it wrong. This game is all about building big machines to automate production. If you're sitting around waiting for research to complete - how about using that time to build more power generators to vastly improve research speed? Don't have the materials to build more power? Then go explore the world for new ore veins and build more machines to harvest it for you. You have the tools and resources to build more mines and assembly lines to create more supplies than you know what to do with.

My only knock on the game is that a lot of information is missing from the in-game help. If you want to learn many helpful tips that will take your base to the next level, expect to spend some time looking online or in the steam community pages for information.

The positive spin on this is that the developers are very active and are improving the game and adding new items/features on a near-daily basis so perhaps they haven't found the time to finish the help menu or aren't settled on the final stats of an item yet.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYMORE.

This game used to be fun. Key is USED TO. If you played in earlier versions you will understand. Every new patch he changes things to force players to do things his way. Things that are(were) fun are being nerfed all in the name of because you are not playing the game in his vision.

He has removed the ability to craft things manually and now force you to make these one-off machines because these are 'new machines'. So now players need to make a production chain just to make some of these infrequently used intermediate items instead of allow players to craft by hand which many of has only a single purpose.

Not even considering previous nerfs, the current nerfs already announced include the inability(or limited) use of the grapple so they will not work in certain areas as well as the inability to smelt anywhere but on the surface. AND NO... CC Furnaces does not count as that requires a separate PAID subscription to patreon to access currently. And the newest nerf announcement of limiting the amount of ores you're allowed to carry so you have to play the game as he sees fit.

The nerfs aren't even the largest issue. The attitude of the developer is just bad. Many of his replies on this very forum are just condescending replies. So instead of discussion he would routinely just reply "You do know there's a machine for that, right?" or the ever helpful "You have read the help files, right?"

Fundamental changes should have been done from the beginning. The game has been in Steam's Early Access since 2013, but waits til NOW to make some of these changes. Which brings up the final point. All these changes are always justified because of 'serious discussions with other players and we feel it's for the better...' type posts. These are usually the hardcore players who sit on his daily stream and chats. These evangelical players are not always the best gauge for tuning and balancing and you will see them defending the developer tooth and nail for these changes on these same forums.

I fully expect many of them to vote down once he tells his stream viewers but many things needed to be said. IMO if you are interested in logistics and think this is factorio in 3D, you would be sad. If you wanted a sandbox game, this is not it. If you enjoy survival, there is only one single aggressive mob in the entire game. And he's stationary. 99% of your deaths will be because you fell or you stood in fire too long.... or you stood in cold too long.

So if you're wondering about the great number of hours put in, I've played this since v1. And reading this last round of nerf announcements has finally made me take a step back and reevaluate the game as a whole. It is no longer fun and for the past several patches this is the direction it's headed with no signs of changing. And so unfortunately I can no longer recommend the game anymore.

I'll re-evaluate the game in some more patches down the line and see if it feels like it's getting better or worse.

Graphics and block models look nice. The area lighting is a bit dark. There are not many settings available from ingame, changing graphics level requires a restart. Switching worlds also requires a restart. Overall an enjoyable game

Very deep crafting and logistic system. Overall well thought out progression and balance system, but there are lulls at times.

UI/polish needs work and interaction with hoppers is unintuitive.

Well first off i didn't think I would of liked the game. Then I tried it and its actually really good alot of automation. Times where the bugs will keep you on your toes. So far I have enjoyed every part of this game great recommendation to anyone that likes similar games like Factorio. Also a good thing is the Dev is always active always streaming and fixing, polishing, and adding things to his game. Yes he is a D*** but you know what, he cares about his game and what people think on it and listens to what we have to say when it comes to the game.
