New patch and new beta available!

The 1.14 patch should go live tomorrow morning - this introduces quite a lot of new things!

This patch has been a serious look at player progression, tons of feedback from watching the new streamers, and includes AutoExcavators, lovely visual upgrades to the Ore Pings, Crystals to encourage players to explore, falling damage, a revamped and improved crafting interface and rare, craftable upgrades for the Power Logistics.

However, not resting on our laurels, whilst we're waiting for the testers to give a thumbs up to the previous patch to go to mainline, there's a shiny NEW test patch for you to test!

The new 1.15 patch is going to include the brand-new AutoBuilder, which should take a lot of the tedium and hassle out of building very long vertical Conveyor Lines. There's also been a complete redesign of the Research system, which should guide new players in a much less confusing fashion, new Manufacturing Plant upgrades and MatterMovers have been made much more attractive to players!

Full details for the brave :

UPDATE: First off, I'd like to thank DjArcas for the tips and help, greatly appreciated.

Pros: Awesome soundtrack, very creative designs, futuristic feel to it, Help menu (H) very useful.
Cons: Spawn equipment isn't always guarented(This equipment is vital to do anything), always snowy biome on spawn.
(More Details Below)

The first issue I had was when I was creating a world. I went to name it, and my mouse dissapeared, and I only got it back by using ALT + TAB to switch out then back in.

Upon entering the world, I enjoyed a very creative loading retracting box, which is much more interesting than common world loading screens. Yet, I failed to watch the ship that I arrived in crash. In fact, it didn't crash at all. In an attempt to find it, I climbed the highest nearest mountain, but could not find the crater it crashed down in. (I did look for a purple beam in the sky, but only saw a very cool looking alien background.)

No matter what, you will always spawn in a snow biome. I get that its to add a sense of survivng the cold (Hypothermia is a thing) but the constantly howling wind was somewhat annoying. I attempted to turn the sound effects off in the in-game settings menu, but found it very lacking(Which means that there were zip settings, and could not do so). The music is AWESOME though. I would love it in the SteamMusic Player.

The Help menu was very helpful (H button in-game) and told me alot that I didn't know before. Pause menu is ok, settings are still being worked on I guess, missing some stuff.

The robots everywhere gave it a very futuristic feel, which I did like, and the robot compainion is fairly a cool. . . informer? He dosent do much, helps keep you alive with solar power if you have the right upgrades, tells some basic info about what block you are carrying, etc. I haven't upgraded him a whole lot so far.

The only way to exit a world is to exit the game, then restart it. Found this out after I pressed "Quit" However, this is partly my error because there is a short note under saying "Exit to Desktop"

All in all, I would give this game a 6.5/10. I understand that designing a game isn't easy, and this game is still early access. However, I would keep my previous recommendation of waiting to see where this game ends up before buying it.

Sugesstions: Have the player crash in a escape pod, guarunteing (Sorry that I can't spell) the research equipmentby having it in the escape pod with the player. Option to change biome, mabye add different challenges to these biomes? (Deset=Hydration, etc.) These are the only sugesstions that I have so far, the game is solid besides this. I realize that this game is early access, so I'm going to definetly give it some slack. The pause menu and stuff, I understand.
ANYWAY, this is just my opinion of the game, its not bad in the state that it is in, only major issues are A. Biome and B. Spawn equipment.

It's been a while since I've played, but from that expirence, I had alot of trouble. There was no tutorial, nor any tutorial videos that I could find. I had some bugs when starting a new survival, such as being stuck in the zoomed view when the player is watching the ship crash. I also had trouble finding the crashed ship. However, these are understandable as it is an early acess game.

My advice: Keep an eye on this game, but don't buy it just yet.

NOTE: This review is based on an older version, I plan on re-playing this game again as soon as possible to update this review.

Written as of Alpha 1.11 (or 1.13c multiplayer, whichever you prefer). I have not played a lot, but from the meager 2 hours there are a lot of things that, unfortunately, made this a waste of money for now. The price tag would be justified if the game weren't the mess it is now. There are ofc a lot of pros to it but the amount of cons, and the form they take, is just a little too much. Also, as much as people would love to say it is a Minecraft clone, the similarities end at "block based building" and "mining". You could just as well place Space Engineers in the same category then.

- Infinite worlds, a la Minecraft (better than the 256 block height it has anyways)
- Good potential for a crafting system, unlike any other Minecraft-ish game
- Research, blueprints, power system, different mining modes
- Much more realistic processing and production, with ore smelting, refining, and producing items and gear
- "Health" system with temperature, power levels and hypothermia

- Buggy UI and menus, to the point it becomes very annoying
- Lack of a proper tutorial (there is one but it's messy and sometimes unclear)
- Buggy creative multiplayer with no proper netcode or player sync
- Extremely buggy survival multiplayer (lots of ore duping without even trying and more)
- Very odd color scheme and graphical design choices for blocks and machinery (more of a personal opinion, but ir sure seems off)

It's a good game, with a lot of potential, but it's a shame that the bugs and clunkiness of it made it very hard to play. I will definitely check back in a couple updates and hope it still was a good investment. For people who can cope with bugs and still enjoy a game, go ahead, but there are too many things either unfinished or (partially) broken right now. I still recommend it tho because of this future potential.

This is a very engaging game. The similarities with Minecraft (Technic specifically) are passing. Building an effective power and resource distribution network against the pressures of a hostile environment in survival mode are really great. There are a lot of things to do now with so much promise and possibility for the future. I expect I'll have more sleepless nights up tinkering with this game for some time to come.

[This review is for survival mode, creative is implemented, but we have all seen that kind of thing before..aka minecraft.]

If you like setting up large factories for automatically collecting things... (Think automatic robots in minecraft)

Then this is the game for you! You start with nothing but a laser miner, and from there you craft machines that can do everything for you, from mining to moving to storage! The automatic rich mans lifestyle.

Most of the fun currently (as of 11/7/2014) Comes from building the factories/automated lifestyle, and picking out nice spots to store your ores. After that,well..there is not much to do,it's hard to get pretty materials in survival mode to build nice looking houses with. I give the game a 4/5, or a 7/10.

Once finished,I can see it being an amazing place to spend most of your time.

I like the survival concept in this game, even the elements is your enemy.
This game would be so much cooler if the blocks had been half the size or smaller.

I cant deny what i seen its easiest best creative mode in in existence , if you want to build here are some top but not only advantage over minecraft:
-No limit in hight , you can go as far as 200.000 blocks deep not that anyone would want to and 200.000 is not limit , i believe developer said you could go about "amount who is from 1 side of galaxy to another"
-Make own micro blocks on a go without leaving a game with very few clicks
-Copy and paste tool , want a village? make 5 houses copy paste them around and THEN you can make them easily unique
-Lightning tops anything minecraft ever had

As far as survival go it still needs lots of work but so far what it is is quite fun and will offer you at least couple hours of fun if not more! if you liked industrial craft or gregtech or buildcraft this is for you:D

once this game is fully released, it will be an amazing game, still an epic game now, and worth the price, but right now the biggest problems are things that basically come with time, so try it if you're into creating or surviving.

When they say "infinite worlds" they really mean it! I decided to test this and built a structure going from the surface (Y:0) and built all the way up to 3,254... I could have kept going, but let's be honest, that would have been pointless. So then I decided to find the floor of the world, and dug down to 9,153... And I could have kept going. Minecraft's 256 block height limit is put to absolute shame, as this game shows its beefy and well-constructed voxel engine. I'll admit, I'm going to use Minecraft as my comparison here, because Minecraft is the definitive voxel game to compare to.

The game's view distance is comparable to that of Minecraft's 15 chunk view distance, which means you can see a lot. In Minecraft there's a survival situation which revolves around food. Currently in FortressCraft Evolved the survival situation revolves around body heat. You're in a constant struggle to keep yourself cool enough and warm enough at the same time. Standing in fire makes your body overheat, draining your power cells, and will kill you of heat exhaustion. Staying underground or out in the elements at night can cause you to begin to freeze, and you can die of hypothermia as well.

The game is looking good already in its pre-alpha state, and I absolutely can't wait for the full release. Normally I'd say "don't buy this early access unless you're ready to deal with bugs," but in this case, the sooner you get it, the less you'll end up paying in the end. So it's at your discretion, buy now and save, or buy later for peace of mind.

Some of the features work, some of them don't, but you'll still find plenty to do in this game. Better pack yourself a lunch, because you're going to be playing this for long hours.

After playing the game non stop for a few day i have to say this game is one of the best voxle games, its still being created at this time but so far ive came across no glitches myself. the game has some nice quick build tools that make creaing briliant structres alot easyer than other games of this type.

I'd definatly recomend this game. at such a low price its worth trying.

I'm embarrassed about how much time I have played with this game. For now, the critters are off and there are a few things that say this is BETA software. You need to dig deeper and discover new materials and ores to unlock the higher development tiers. The system supports enough automation that can rescue you from the grind once you get it going. The game allows for different types of game play and different styles to build. The developers are making blocks for the happy home makers, and some neat tools to use when you level up.

The beasts are not-hostile right now, but devs promise to flip a bit in the near future to enable their attacks. There's at least one i've seen that I'm not going to be able to take down with the tools I have. Better keep looking for the next ore to upgrade my kit.

The research and crafting area is small looking, but more items are revealed as you level up. Some items are really useful, and other not so much. Read the guides in the forums.

Multiplayer, creative and survival modes are being tested. With the beta software, you can stand up your own server and invite friends to play and create a functional base, manufacturing and storage facility.

Whatever your play style, the endgame won't be a sprint, so sit back and enjoy seeing where it goes.

First of all this an early access review.

I gave the game another shot and I managed to find survival mode as well.
The game has a really interesting mechanic as to transfering power from one thing to the other although I sadly had to say most things are still unclear to me.
I really hope things will get explained somewhat better in the future. However assuming at some point the game will be a little more clear in what to do when and where, how to fully craft even the first thing, like the power core which the lovely robot assistance keep mentioning about.
Also the sort of short manual, starters guid if you may is nowhere to be found once I clicked it away.
I remain to my point a sort of forced manual could really help someone like me get through the first bit of the game learning the basics and how to craft just a few things. After that the helping hand may go away as in any other game and one is of to explore the world for oneself.

Thumb up yes, I give it that because I do think the game has a lot of potentional.

I love this game I have played Minecraft for a long long time untill i got kinda borred of it, but i still like creative/building games. at first i though this was going to be a minecraft clone and yes it does get it's inspiration from minecraft obviously but it is much more. Setting up all the lasers conveir belts power generators mining drills etc etc to make a self sustaining base takes a long time to figure out which makes it besides being a building game also a puzzle game and with all the improvements you can build in your suit it also becomes kind of an rpg game. Sure it needs a lot of finetuning (a lot of the creative blocks are not even added to the survival yet) but it's a work in progress right now unfinished product i would give it a 7,5/10 but with the prommise it shows my guess for the final product would be 9/10 well worth the early buy get it now before it's finished and going to cost you a lot more than what it does now.

I am looking forward for the next updates!

It is early access and it has a way to go until a release product, but I am more than happy with my purchase.

This game makes me think of how I want Minecraft to be!

Very impressed by the early development and the developers.

This game has a lot of potential to be something really awesome, but it still has that "incredibly unfinished" feeling to it. The UI is clumsy at times, and the game as a whole is difficult to master. It's really creative, but after so long, you get bored of waiting for your suit to recharge and jump into "creative" mode, which also gets old after a while. I'm sure with a few more updates, this game is going to be incredible.

This is a pretty fun and accessable video game. Kinda like minecraft, but with way more soothing gameplay. Still in its infancy, so it feels like minecraft alpha days before water was introduced. Pretty interesting though, looks like combat will be a fair part of the game. Wonder what can be done with that? I like it, but its still very early on.
