First off let me say... I am not a hater, I really wanted to like the game and was pulling for EXT to pull it off. BUT...At the price of $49.99 I would not recommend this game. I have played the game for a few hours and it's already getting old. It's basically the same game as NTG 13. but this one actually works properly (so far). Several things in this game that I just simply scratch my head over... There is no career stat tracking, The AI is (improved) but very unpredictable, there are two cars with the #16, and two with #7, and two with the #9? Positives... The game looks good. That's about it. Negatives. It's the same game as the three that came before it, with very few improvements. It's interface is difficult to navigate around the sound is very unrealistic, net music is worse, the cars drive very unrealistic. It's just unfinished. It's has potential to be a good/fun game but as the previous three Nascar games did... It falls way short.

As someone who has owned every NASCAR game since 1998, yes even the weird ones on the Wii a couple years ago, I can say that without a doubt, this isn't the best one. But it isnt the worst by a far bigger margin. Yes, it has issues, and yes, every NASCAR game made by Eutechnyx has been plauged with issues out of the gate, but this one isn't that bad. The worst part of this one, which is a big part, is the AI. This year they made the AI difficulty a slider from 0-100% rather than the old Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. However, while it says 0% = Easy and 100% = Hard, it varies by track. You start off at Daytona, a restictor plate track where drafting is a must to win or even pass. So my first instinct was to put it at 100%. After all, like I said, I've played them all since 98, I know how to race the cars in these games like it was second nature to me. So I race at Daytona, 100% difficulty, and I dominate. Led every lap without trouble, and mind you, this is in my career car with a refurbished engine. But then, I get to Phoenix...and then the trouble starts. I qualify on the pole, and right out of the gate, Im getting passed, cars and plowing into me in the corners, its impossible to win. So I crank it down to 50% for Vegas, still impossible to win. So I use 0% for Bristol and I lap the field. Ive tried in increments of 10, 15, 20, 25, & 33. The difficulty varies by track. I dont understand how they could think that this AI in this finished product was even close to where it should be. But, after all that...I still have hope. I have hope that Eutechnyx can do what they did in the past and fix the game over time. If they can fix the AI and a few other small glitches throughout the game, this can be a fun enjoyable, but still challenging NASCAR experience for all. I still do recommend this game, but I recommend that you don't buy it right away unless its on sale on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or something. I bought it there on release day for $33 and Im pretty certain I can say that Ive enjoyed it for what it is, and I look forward to enjoying it much more when its fixed.

What should be an enjoyable game is plauged by poor A.I. and mechanics that seem years behind other driving games. The A.I. seems more interested in either causing demolition derbys or racing 5 seconds behind the back depnding on what skill level you set them to.

NASCAR '14 is overall a good game. It has more features than 13especially in the career mode. Which in turn makes it a lot more compelling to play. For example before a race you will have a budget to build a car with. You choose whether you would like an improved engine, chassis... Etc like the previous game however you will have to buy the upgrade with the budget you are allocated each and every race, the better you perform in a season the more budget you will have to play around with. The R&D section is also much improved comapred to the previous game.

The graphics are slighty improved compared to 13. The biggest thing I noticed was the Anti Aliasing looks a lot crisper. However due to this I have expericed a few frame rate drops throughout races (Running on 2 GTX 680's). But I am confident that they will be ironed out with later patchs.

The handling is much the same as 13. However if you choose to turn off the assists in this game it is a lot less forgiving and you will spin out and die :) Or is that just me? If you have no experience with the previous game or how it handles be advised that this is not a keyboard friendly game. You will need a gamepad or even better a wheel. I personally use the Logitech G27 and have found that even after turning the sensitivety down to 0 it was still too sensitive.

Would I recommed buying it for £29.99 or your regional equvelent?

No (Unless on sale). If you want to play a NASCAR game and don't own 13 I would serioulsy suggest you buy that first! HOWEVER If you do own 13, enjoy playing it and don't mind dropping the cash then I would definitely suggest buying this game. Its an extremely good "Upgrade" game.

Game sucks HARD... bought it because i had 15 bucks to burn.. would have rather actually lit the money on fire for more enjoyment. the 60FPS lock is a joke, windows are not in cars, horrible tearing even with vsync on... none of the realism issues were ever even looked at by the dinks who made the game... sorry. Stick with NR2k3- at least you know that the cars handle close, and the AI knows how to race...
