Recommendation - Where countless games have gone before, now with adequatulence.
Don't spend more than - $5
Everyone and their dog knows what game this is trying to copy. You could show someone a screenshot OR read them the name OR explain the concept, and you wouldn't even be able to finish before they said "Minecraft."
This is a shameless, shallow, cash-grab copy of what used to be a unique game.
You know what, though? I still had fun with it. It could be because I only played it a dozen hours or so. It could be because I got it in a $4 bundle deal along with 9 other games. It could be because I played almost the entire time co-oping with a friend. Or it could even be that the concept of Minecraft is so addictively fun that even the cheapest knockoffs still are enjoyable.
Whatever the reason, I enjoyed my little slice of time in this world. There's really nothing else I can say than that. There are the same set of Minecraft tools (pick, shovel, axe, sword, etc.), and the same set of Minecraft ores (bronze, silver, gold, diamond, etc.). The enemies are different (and VASTLY more annoying), you can craft a whole slew of guns (from pistols to laser sniper rifles and alien AKs), and the game has a slightly more survival-based attitude to it. That could be an intentional design choice from the ground up, or it could just be that they only put in a small number of building supplies and chose to add difficulty as padding. Who knows.
If you already own Minecraft, don't buy this. It is SO similar (and inferior) in almost every way that you will just be wasting money. Surely there are even Minecraft mods that add guns and running zombies.
If you do not own Minecraft, are intrigued by the concept, and this game is on sale for cheap (I'm talking CHEAP), then go ahead and grab it. The multiplayer was stable, the controls are responsive, and it has the same addictive just-one-more-block-so-I-can-add-to-my-castle quality of Minecraft.
I can't see myself ever going back to it though.
