Hva utviklerne sier:

“There's plenty of fun to be had right now in the game, but it's not done yet. I am releasing the game onto Early Access because many players are already enjoying the existing content, but we're still developing and improving it with your feedback and ideas.

Things you can do right now:

* The building systems are fully playable, and in fact, many players have used them to create sprawling mega-cities, huge statues, and awesome pixel art.
* Solve (or create!) simple player quests.
* Build collaboratively with friends by joining a player city (or become the mayor of your own town).
* Build privately in your own pocket universe.
* Build your own dungeon or player-vs-player arena.
* Three races to choose from so far: Human, Zombie, or Potato. Become a zombie and nom on others to infect them with zombieism.
* Fight nefarious LawyerCats, deadly Hipsters, and a couple other baddies.
* Level up and unlock new items to build with.
* Once you are Level 4, explore the dangerous and untamed =67 map -- it's filled with islands and oceans and hard mobs.

Things on the roadmap for the future (game updates happen frequently)

* More monsters to fight.
* More weapons.
* More character levels.
* More buildable items.
* Your suggestions and ideas! The community is a huge part of development, and many top suggestions have already made it into the game.

Pocket Townstone + Cardboard Box Technology

Meat

Raw meat can now be purchased & cooked to taste. Don't leave it on the oven too long or it'll get crispy!

Cardboard Box Technology!
Boxtech is officially out on Primary Server, with not one, but SIX box types to choose from! Containers have been one of the most popular suggestions over the past few years, so I'm very excited to finally have containers available.

  • Public Box - anyone can put items in or take items out
  • Owner Box - only you can put items in or take items out
  • Town Box - only town citizens can put items in or take items out (if not placed inside a town, will function as an owner box)
Each box type comes in a small and large size. Small can handle 500 objects, while large can handle 1,000 objects.

You can carry boxes with you in your inventory, or even put boxes inside other boxes (because physics :P). The box will only count as a single item towards your inventory or region limit.

While near a box, press E to use it. When done, simply press escape to clear all open windows from your screen.

Pocket Townstone (buy it with gold!)
One of the most popular requests ever has been to be able to build a town with gold instead of plat. This is now possible with the Pocket Townstone. It is a limited functionality townstone that can only be placed in your pocket universe. It will not immediately increase the size of your pocket universe like a full townstone does. However, it enables most townstone functionality such as the ability to let other players build in your pocket universe.Just like normal townstones, please note you CANNOT move or delete this item after it has been placed!

You can upgrade a pocket townstone to a regular townstone for 10p (/townupgrade). Doing so will cause your pocket universe to be expanded from 2x2 to 3x3.

Checkpoint Pads

“The most randomly awesome game I've played in a while”
MMORPG.com

“... generation upon generation of user-made structures dot the landscape, and oversized shapes and enigmatic letters mystify like Nazca lines. It feels free, like playing with Legos as kid. You have agency. There are all sorts of weird ways to play. You can transform into a zombie if you want, try and spread a plague, mix things up. Oh, and beware of LawyerCats. They’re out for blood.”

About This Game

8BitMMO is a retro-style 2D massively multiplayer game! It's a giant construction sandbox -- you can build a home or a castle in a persistent streaming world. Found and manage your own city. Fight evil LawyerCats and engage in Player vs Player battle. Work in Progress! :)

Features

100% Player Built World - The entire world is built by players. Build your own house, town, voxelart, or dungeon. The world is massive -- there's plenty of space to build in, and it streams in as you explore (no load screens).

Be the Mayor - Start your own town and invite your friends. You'll have an array of management tools for overseeing your town.

Interactive Development / WIP Updates - The entire game only has one full-time developer, and development is still ongoing. You can submit and vote on ideas -- many of the top voted ideas have been implemented into the game. Free updates with new content and features are frequently released.

Anti-Griefing Systems - Several systems protect players from griefing.

Free To Play - No purchase necessary to have fun. Support the developer and buy a fancy hat... or don't. (Premium items give NO competitive advantage)

Customize your Character - Wear hats, clothing, accessories, change your skin color

Become a Zombie - Want to be a zombie? You can! But you'll need a steady supply of delicious brains from other players. Don't worry, after you eat their brain, they'll be zombies too!

Fight Nefarious Enemies - Congressional Lobbyist Slugs, LawyerCats, and Hipsters oh my.

MegaMap - The world is huge, so the MegaMap interface (based on Google Maps API) is a handy way to browse the world and share your creations with friends.

This is by far one of the worst games I have ever wasted my time on. I'm pretty sure I played the SimCity beta for longer. I mentioned a few problems I had on the forums, and this is when I decided to make this review. They ♥♥♥♥ing banned me, for TRYING TO HELP THEM IMPROVE THEIR GAME. No, you ungrateful pricks go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. Just because mommy and daddy gave you the money to kickstart this game doesn't mean you can walk around like you are some big dev company and anything that anybody says against you is wrong. I could rant in detail about all the things I found stupid with this game, but I'll give a summary. In the time I played I already received a repeat quest. I discovered that building things is PAINFULLY difficult. Also, this is NOT LIKE MINECRAFT in terms of building a world. You have to buy the blocks, with either in game money or real life money. Actually you can buy anything with real life money because this game doesn't even hide the fact that they simply want all your money and could care less about the game. The combat system..... or if you can call it that, is "press space at stuff", and is one of the worst combat systems I have ever had to deal with.

Overall 0/10
This is the worst MMO game I have ever played and I will tell all my friends and everyone I know to avoid this game like the plague.

Edit: Of course this game -has- potential. But it's hella neglected and the devs obviously don't care. They got their money and went on vacation. This could be a good game, but as it is now it's an absolute waste of time.

Everyone who plays this has to be a shaolin monk to have the patience with the horribly confusing pseudo-3D concept which makes building AND doing quests ridiculously more difficult than it should be. I do like the general idea, but the execution doesn't appeal to me much.

God, How would I put this? "ROBLOX SUX!!!1111" "Meh, (I refuse to say the name of this game, but I have to) 8BitMMO was worse".
How do I put this?
Community: ROBLOX-esque. Though as said below, People got banned for just saying that "This game is boring". I mean, You could kicked for just referencing ponies in Minecraft. Or how about the time you got kicked for trading a 'duped' item when it's really a killstreak in a crowded TF2 server full of squeakers? OR HOW ABOUT THE TIME YOU GOT KICKED FOR NO REASON AT ALL? yeah. forget that, the 8BitMMO fanbase is too connected.
Game: It looks generic, somehow attractive, but it's enitrely player-created. Nobody's gonna think it's good or anything. I mean, the LawyerCats just looks like a prototype cat enemy from BattleBlock Theatre. Speaking fo lawyers, I'mgonna phone mine up now.

Altogether,I can't say anything else. This is just bad. -69/10

Sounded interesting at first but failed to impress me. The quests are extreamly repetitive and boring. Even the player made quests are boring. It's always either search the town and find the reward or survive the spike maze. Not even worth the price of free imo.

"Platinum" is required to build your own town, and must be bought with real money. And it takes a lot of it. This may be a good game to try if there are some major changes made, however i would not waste my time or money on it until then.

The best thing, however is the developers sense of humor. However MOST of the game is player built and MOST people do not share the same humor or intelligence. There are a LOT of misspelled words in the player built areas. Sometimes i could not even guess the meaning! The leveling up is very repetitive, at some point you will discover you cannot do some things in the game without real money (to buy Platinum). The player driven quests were the most unique feature, however, many of them are broken or too long or boring to be interesting. The most time i spent in game was trying to complete two player driven quests only to have no way to finish them.
Homes people build are mostly empty, and you can only explore so many towns with nothing to really do in them. And you are unable to interact with most items. So no world exploring there , either.
