About This Game

Captain your own space ship and roam the galaxy in 3D in this tactical space simulator with tons of RPG depth ! Space has never looked so inviting - but images can betray...

It has been two years since the end of the second Gemini war, the situation in the wartorn system is further from resolution than ever.
The collection of freedom fighters named Gemini League is now reduced to a small group, with no power or influence, after losing their leaders. The Empire meanwhile, has used the re-opened Starpoint to occupy the once renegade Gemini sector - and beyond.

A multitude of Imperial warship fleets and mammoth motherships have crushed every trace of opposition. The situation was looking bleak, when they suddenly halted their armada and re-shifted their focus on fortifying Starpoint with staggering numbers. Rumours soon spread that they were afraid of something coming after them through the T-gate, from what was supposed to be the core of the Empire. What are they running from that makes even the mighty Empire tremble?

Starpoint Gemini 2 will take players on a breath taking journey, with dark secrets and unimaginable twists that will finally unveil the incredible truth...

Key features:

Gods, Starpoint Gemini 2 Where have you been. If you put a 4 x space mmo, remove the shoddy ai and shoddy players. And add ai that thinks, grows, and attacks! Plus there is good ship quality and animations! It can be slow at times, but this game is almost relaxing in pace. There is a lot to do, and a lot of fun. Highly Recommended

Once upon a time I played a 2D game called "Escape Velocity", a game about being a space guy with a ship, going around the galaxy doing things for money and getting involved in various shenanigens. It was very open, and it instantly made you feel like you weren't just an actor in a story, but a person in a universe. Maybe you were some poor shlub with a cheap ship just taking whatever work you could get to make a buck, often risking your neck in the process or maybe eventually you were the coolguy captain with a beastly ship deciding the fate of whatever chunk of space you ended up in. Either way you would be involved in cool space battles, or running in a panic from a situation you couldn't handle, or spending time carefully picking upgrades for your ship, or even buying a whole new ship ( or dreaming about buying a giant really expensive ship ).

Starpoint Gemini 2 is the 3D version of that experience.

Well what can i say i absolutely love this game. Every time i play this game it take's me back to when i used to play colony wars on PS1. This game is definitely made for people who dont have the time sit and grind the hell out of a game to get anywhere. For example im only 30 hrs in this game and im already running around the galaxy in a dreadnought feeling like a absolute power house. You rank up very quickly and theres easy money to make out their. Other then that the ships look awesome and the galaxy it self looks stunning.

the only thing i found wrong with this game is that it doesnt feel like a simulation it has more of a arcade feel to it but if your some one like me who doesnt have alot of time on your hands because of works and is raising kids then who give's a s@#$

I lost interest in the game although it's quite decent. I tried all type of missions, trading, exploring etc., upgrade ship and weapons. IMHO it needs 3 things..
1.) balancing:
- railgun weapons are far better than all weapon types (beam, plasma)
- some red (high-lvl) missions are easy, got killed on some easy ones (low-lvl)
2.) more deep mechanics
- trading very stupid (although very effective to earn money till ~lvl10)
3.) removing first ?LGM? screen when launching game!
- it's very loud forcing me to throw my headpones from my ears in instance

I recommend this game for all space-sim-explorer-lovers not for common player looking for something new..

So I bought this on sale and it was one of those impulse buys, I did not get this game at all when I first tried it, but when I was in a more patient mood to learn the confusing interface I have now started playing it more and actually understand it as I read the tutorials carefully and just got used to everything, there is a learning curve with this game, but considering it's singleplayer so you don't have to worry about player population and it's a really massive space sim it is definitely worth it.

Do you remember the days of Freelancer? Well I do and I played that game to death, one of the most fun aspects for me was the huge amounts of factions, the hidden bases, the exploration and the rather limited sandbox experience when it came to trading this game has decided to focus on all of that.

I may actually even check out mining properly now, because I remember wanting to do it in Freelancer but because that game was primarily about combat it was all very limited oh and just like freelancer it looks like you mine by shooting stuff rather than having any sort of specialised ship, which, while is a bit silly I do wonder if that's a good mechanic because it means you don't have to worry so much about how to defend yourself in space sims.

So to sum this game up, it very much has a learning curve, think of it as Freelancer on steroids because even the steering of your ship is very similar, but once you get into it you'll have no problem getting through the map and the various interfaces loaded with information.

If anyone wants a possible tip on getting into the game quicker, I recommend just getting used to using the context menu which you access with the middle mouse button or clicking your scroll wheel. Unlike most context sensitive stuff on games this menu actually seems to work decently and you can use it to quickly navigate around space.

I`ve put quite a few hours into this one and whilst there is alot to like, it is ultimatley a very detached and empty experience. I found it hard to care about the games universe and different factions. The battles were just too arcade like and not much fun. Ships close into engagement range quickly and from then its usually a case of putting on auto turret fire and carrying out some random evasive manourvres. There didn`t seem much in the way of strategy or tension. And reaching higher level ships just seems to up the stats- there just isn`t that satisfying feeling of pwer from owning a battleship or Dreadnought. This could have been so much more.

I went into this game as a buffer between waiting on a few other games im looking forward to. Keeping that in mind I do love all scifi/space games in general. The beginning was difficult i was having a hard time learning the controls and ended up giving up within the first two hours. I gave it another try and got the basics down and now am 36 hours into the game. I found myself loving it and enjoying the mystery of the story. From what i expect from a 30 usd game it surpasses in all categories. Yeah tutorials are not great, the voice overs are off sometimes and not perfect, finding the help section or explainations in the game about buying selling or how to bounty hunt and null and void. But with all that it is a 30 buck game reg price and i bought it for under 10 bucks. I rather enjoy figuring out how to figure out all the aspects of making money in game.

I say 2 thumbs up for what it is and i enjoy it even though i dislike 3rd person or control the ship games where im not in a first person view. 36 hours into it im not even in the dlc yet and havent even explored all the space available in the game aswell. I say its a win win!!!!

Yes get this game, wait do you need to hear the dialog and be given direction?
Okay less one sided. But if those are both no then hell yes get this game.

Where to start, I got this game on sale, and wanted to refund it. However I gave it one more try and managed to get through the first little bit, and all of a sudden I loved it like crazy...

Side notes I guess
I really like the ship details and variety, although I wish there were more. (I always want more ships)
The story line got kind of lame and or broken near the end.
The main dialog is painful. Punishment for warcrimes painful...

So if you are going to give it a go
-Turn off the dialog!
----Do IT! (the music is nice though, and in freeroam the dialog is much less death)
-And get ready to be spammed like crazy by "helpful" tutorial pop ups as soon as you start. (some are very helpful)
----You can skip them or dissable them at your discretion though so not a big deal.
-You can zoom out with the numpad +/- keys
-You need to restore default keybinds when you start, or the delete key doesn't bring up your tactical view (which once up is handy)

I think those are the main things that coloured my lack of enjoyment with it at first, so knowing that you should have a much better run of it.
Oh I found the gunner class was less entertaining than the other two classes, even if you are mostly planning on shooting everything

But seriously I have had a heck of a lot of fun with this game, and will likely continue to do so for a good bit more. I haven't tried all the ships yet and there are still some achievements to go.

I Love this game. Its a space RPG but you never you leave your ship. Sure its a bit old but graphics and gameplay are great.
Its not too simplistic to be considered an arcade space shooter but not a mad in depth space simulator. Its quite easy to learn how to pilot, fight, nav and trade. Along the way you got many ship upgrades and ships. However be prepared to earn the credits to buy these. The space fighting is alot of fun, however its very level dependent if you engage with an emeny above your level you die. So run away tactics are sometime needed until you own a fleet of ships.
There are a few problems sometimes the space fights can just kill you in seconds. You can only save you game at stations which adds to tension but alot of time you just end up replaying the same mission or area of space because of it. The soundtrack I tured off within 4 hours of gameplay its repitive and anoying and the sound effects could be better.
So gamrplay is quickly learned but sometimes the fights are too difficult.
soundtrack could be better.
graphics are up to standard.
A fun space adventure.

A slight variation on the standard space-battle game in that you get more firing control and ship manouvrability. The tutorial is a little sketchy, simply as list of thing to read as you play along, rather than a hands-on episode specially designed for beginners. Some great movie clips along the way, and graphics in general somewhat superior to the more basic plethora of space games out there. Looks like it will hold my interest for longer than the "usual" disappointing games of this type.

I really wish I could recommend this game, but it's a buggy, unfinished mess. I can't believe the state the developers left this in before abandoning it and moving onto their next project; Starpoint Warlords, which I would highly advise people to stay away from as well. Aside from the persistent crashing, there are parts of the game the developer just didn't even bother to finish. For instance, none of the equipment that was introduced with the expansions works. None of it. The developers are completely aware of it too, they just never bothered to finish it. Simple things like being able to skip dialog doesn't work because of "technical reasons". I kid you not, that's their excuse, but it supposedly works on xbox. Many of the quests are bugged, including the final mission, and require hacking save files or reloading the mission numerous times until it works. Voice dialog worked for maybe a third of the game, the rest of it you just have to read the dialog and then wait in silence until what should have been voiced over to finish since, again, you can't do something as simple as skip dialog.

Character/story progression is very poorly thought out. It wasn't until I got about 10 hours in, when I was getting wrecked by even the lowliest of enemies, that I had to go to the forums to find out you shouldn't do any missions because you'll over level yourself but not have enough money to buy a new ship and essentially have to start all over or hack your save file to give yourself credits. Nope, you're supposed to just go capture ships for money and not do any missions. I'm not kidding, you aren't supposed to level up or do missions or you'll break your game. I'm not even going to list out all of the other bugs the devs are aware of that they just never bothered to fix. Stuff that was brought up back in 2014 during the beta that they said they would fix and just never bothered with. I could probably go on for another three paragarphs listing all the issues with this game, but suffice it to say, it's a mess.

I'm hard pressed to recall any other game I've played that was left in such a sad state, it's like a beta release. It's a huge shame too, because there is a really good game hiding underneath all the garbage, but having finished the game, the incredible amount of laziness and carelessness by the devs and the amount of frustration it causes just ruins it. I have no tolerance for devs that abandon a game like they have here and then move on to their next cash in. I will never purchase another game from Iceberg Interactive.

It was fun, and a lot to take in. Easy to learn, hard to master. It would be nice if the game was made with classes less restrictive. More ships to choose from, or something. Seems very cookie cutter for stores. Do love the anomalys. Weapon prices are way to high. Can't experiment without hours of grinding.

Right off the bat though, the cost system needs to be re-balenced. otherwise fun. As a gameDev myself, ask yourself, "Am I making the player grind just to extend gameplay hours? Is there a better way to get the same affect?"

This game is fun, but to be honest I have run bored of it.
I capped and pulled the best ship and went berserk on enemy factions.

I love how you can grapple into an enemy craft, send your troops and if good enough you can pull the empty craft to a hanger, either to store it and use it, sell it or scrap it!

- too much farming

Buy it and try it, its one of the good space games out there.

+Allignment, and faction system is great.
+Decent variety of ships, and weaponry.
+Open world.
+100+ hours gameplay time. Even if I played it nearly 12 hours, I'm still at the beginning.
-Repetitive quests.
-Trade system is terrible.
-Unrealistic damage mechanics. Your ship will bounce like a ball when it collapse into a station. Even autopilot will collapse the ship into stations.
-2 missions can be in same area, I was in a fight and then other mission triggered, the pop-up story freezed me to do any action, give me a quest and my ship blew up, game over. Thanks really! Due to this bug neither i want to continue the story, nor play it anymore.

Conclusion: 5/10. It had a potential however, i cannot recommend it unless when it's in a huge discount.

this game doesn't deserve a review... honestly it doesn't... especially with the three DLCs and the latest version... I haven't come across a game that crashes and causes the steam client to also crash at the same time! if you like a game that crashes your reasonably recent gaming system (with decent hardware) on the *lowest* custom setting (with everything set to low or off), then here's a game for you... version 1.9300 & all 3 DLCs cause a lot of crashes that the devs have not forseen...

Not my cup of tea.

+ Open World
+ Large space sectors
+ Okay amount of ships you can play

- Casual : Giant class capital ships flies like an F16
- Repetitive : Random generated quests with very same flavor
- Dull : play the campaign and feel of dull it is. It's like just adding cheap voice acting and scenes to the freeroam mode

I still trying to find good reason to invest more time in this game.

Bought it on sale, found a good entertaining space sim. The game had mostly positive reviews and after a few hours of gameplay I understand why. Job well done.

I will recommend this to new players, do not venture too close to hostile space in your starting ship with water pistol turrets. Also, bring your brown pants.
