Organ Trail's pretty damn fun. It's essentially Oregon Trail with zombies and a bunch of Left 4 Dead references.

I had the iOS version before buying the Steam version, and I feel like the game's easier to control on a computer as far as shooting goes. That being said, shooting is still a ♥♥♥♥♥ as far as controls go, and it's difficult to nail on the head. Some of the in-game passersby even acknowledge the problems with the controls by stating, "These controls suck!" (They do.) But having a mouse removed the issue of my finger blocking parts of the screen.

The writing is often times humorous and references things from the original game to Castlevania. It gives Organ Trail a certain charm and unusual atmosphere. Some of the locations throughout the game are rather humorous as well (one of these being--I kid you not--a strip club), and it gives me the impressions that the developers made this purely for fun, which I find admirable. It's always nice to find a game that convinces players that the people who made it definitely had a kickass time doing so.

I've noticed that, while the overall gameplay is generally difficult (even on normal), it gets progressively harder as you move further down the map, which I found reasonable, in my opinion. That being said, it's very good at screwing you over, as nothing's worse than wasting half your food and all your time stuck on the side of the road trading away for enough scrap so that you can attempt a repair on the car that ultimately fails, causing you to waste all your scrap. That actually happened to me. It's not fun. However, to an extent, the game is as difficult as your are good at strategizing and planning a course of action. You will blame yourself many times for the mistake you've made. Many times, crises can be avoided or worked around if you're prepared enough. Yet, given this, random events still occur, and if the odds aren't in your favor, you could end up doing well to being dead in a few miles. It's always important to be cautious in this game as a result.

The music is also spot-on as well. Amidst all of the humor and gags, it gives Organ Trail a more solemn tone. Also, it's generally interesting to listen you and combines an 8-bit feel with a more "advanced" (if that's the word) sound to it. I don't quite know how to explain it. But it's really well done, in my opinion.

The graphics are also very charming and reminiscent of the original games. They work really well. Not sure what else to say here. I like them a lot.

Also, the Clement's Quest minigame is hilarious. It's essentially a TL;DR Organ Trail where you control the car and run over zombies as quickly as you possibly can. I discovered it on accident and couldn't have been happier that I did.

Basically, to put it bluntly, despite the game's difficulty, I really enjoy this game and always have a good time while playing it. It was worth purchasing it the second time, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge and a nostalgic, yet new take on a classic.

Awesome game, don't get discouraged by the graphics. I've wanted to play Oregon Trail for a very long time and this is a great variation on the original game. With zombies! Make sure to name the characters after your friends. One of my friends kept losing supplies and getting cholera, so I shot him. You don't wanna be annoying, dude, not in my car. Great fun, 9/10.

This game is an excellent tribute to Oregon trail, It's still very challenging while retaining the same level of fun in the original. It also has a very unique style of humor and fun mini gameplay moments sprinkled throughout the text based adventure.

One of the greatest games to come along in a long time. Absulotely brilliant. I lost about 3 hours into it the first time, thinking I'd been on for like 10 mins.

I've never played Oregon Trail in my life and didn't expect much from this title, but I found Organ Trail to be some of the most entertaining 4+ hours I've spent in a game. I recommend you choose Hard difficulty if you're familiar with games that include resource management, as I was able to beat the game with hoards of food and ammo, and even a decent amount of gas on my Normal playthrough.

For anyone who grew up playing Oregon Trail in computer lab -- this is a great parody... if you didn't, you may not get that nostalgic feeling, but it 's still a great time. Instead of fording the river, you're sneaking through a horde of zombies. Instead of shooting deer and squirrels, you're shooting zombies and scavenging for food.

I named my crew like this: AintNobody, Robocop, Terminator, Rambo and SuperMouse (aka Mighty Mouse). Rambo was grabbed by a bandit and got killed in 5 minutes of gameplay; Terminator was reading the map upside down and we got lost. I'm trying to keep the rest of the crew alive. 10/10 :D

Yes, horrible graphics, as intended, but it's still fun to play. And as implied by the name, it takes the concept of the old Oregon Trail games and puts a Zombie Apocalypse spin on it. Includes hilarious events and typical zombie troubles, such as being attacked by a zombie grizzly bear. Also allows you to name your characters so you can feel somewhat attached when you have to put Bill Murray down after he's bit and having Tallahasee throw up in the bushes for an hour.

Fun gameplay and moderate replay value, which I find is always important.

Nostalgic fun, but wears thin fairly quickly. Overall the game could use some polish, or at least a proofread. It seems that some of the English was written by someone who doesn't speak the language, and nobody ever bothered to read it during testing. The music can also get a bit repetitive and irritating after a while if you play through the whole game.

An excellent satire of the pioneering (pun intended) educational series, Oregon Trail.

Falls very flat if you either aren't familiar with the original games or aren't remotely interested in satire of educational games-- on the other hand, if you can recall (fondly) what sort of things you did Oregon Trail, you'll be able to understand and appreciate where much of the humor in this game comes from, and enjoy it for what it is.

If you're part of the target audience, you'll probably already have an inkling that you might like this game. To everyone else, I can't recommend it. (Though it's not like it'll put a big dent in your wallet anyway, especially when it's on sale.)
