LUNAR NEW YEAR SALE! Offer ends 12 februari

Om detta material

The heyday of Scottish steam from the 1960s is recreated in the Western Lines of Scotland route, now available for Train Simulator.

The route features a collection of railway lines representing the journey from Carlisle to Stranraer, via Dumfries, just prior to the Beeching axe, which saw many of these lines disappear. From Carlisle to Gretna, travel the route of the old Caledonian Railway before joining the Glasgow, Dumfries and Carlisle Railway bound for Dumfries. At Dumfries, the line branches again and continues along the Castle Douglas and Dumfries Railway, and at Castle Douglas continues along the Portpatrick and Wigtownshire Railway to Stranraer. Numerous yards and sheds can also be seen along the route, including Kingmoor Yard, London Road Sidings, Longtown MoD, Gretna Junction, Dumfries Depot, and Stranraer Harbour.

Western Lines of Scotland, developed by Keith Ross, also includes a re-worked BR Black 5 4-6-0, which comes in light, intermediate and heavy weathered variants, and an option for a front buffer beam mounted BR Type 06 snow plough on the locomotive. There are also accurate headcode options to correctly represent the rolling stock being hauled, and realistic and HUD driving modes.

The route includes scenarios featuring the Black 5 and the branch line to Kirkcudbright, making the Western Lines of Scotland a must for steam fans and those looking to recreate the pre-Beeching days.

I just don't know what to say, because this route is by far the best steam-era route I currently have, and not just because of the Black 5 included. I thoughroughly recommend this route to anyone looking to buy it; you'll get a right stunner.

Stunning recreation! If you treat yourself to one route this year, I'd advise making it this one. Great for Diesels as well as Steam 10/10!

I bought this in the sale as I wanted another steam route but I wasn't expecting it to be so good. This route is highly detailed, long and has lots of stations and yards to drive around. Main and branch line running are both in there so if doesn't matter what or how you like to drive - this route provide a lot of entertainment. All the stations seem to have such personality, some with goods yards, some with sheds etc. and the countryside in between is delightful. The amount of industry is great too.

I've found that the locos which have scenarios for this DLC are also worth getting and are of high quality. Whilst the main focus tends to be steam with route, diesels like the Class 20 really fit too.

I've played this route far more than any other. Very highly recommended.

Best steam route I have. All i'm going to say is Keith deserves my money. That's why WCML North and WCML Over Shap are also better, but WloS is the best out of them.

Wow! Get this route! This is the best route I own. The scenery never gets old and is constantly changing throughout this 100+ miles route. The Black 5 included is also very realistic. My only niggle is that the sounds on the Black 5 are kind of off, but this can be easily fixed by purchasing the sound pack from SteamSoundsSupreme. One other thing, which I think may actually be related to my low spec pc, not an inherent problem with the route itself, but some objects (namely quite a few stations sign pole, and bridges) aren't appearing, however I have a low spec graphics processor and my game settings are low. I highly doubt this is a problem with the route, just my setup.

This route suits all steam locos and diesels from the 1950-60s era, and is a great challenge when you're running a little steam loco such as the J50 on the steep hills provided by this route.

Verdict: 10/10 - Get it! NOW!
