Western Lines of Scotland kaufen

I think this is one of the best routes on offer for Train Simulator 2016.

First of all, the length, 106 miles from Carlisle to Stranraer Harbour. You can do it all in one very long session, or in several more broken up sessions. The reason why I say one very long session, is the fact line speed from Dumfries all the way to Stranraer is 60mph maximum. Between Dumfries and Gretna Junction, this is up to 75mph, and the 10 miles between Carlisle and Gretna Junction is up to a maximum of 90mph.

Another bonus is the fact it includes the branches to Longtown and Kirkcudbright, which is an added bonus if you consider the running potential. The line speed for these are slightly less than the main route, but still nice.

Obviously, the main thing people are interested in, are there facilities at at least most stations there? And the answer is yes, very much so. Most stations have a yard or at least one siding, and most of the major start and finish points such as Dumfries have turntables and sheds. This means there is plenty of scope for shunting, as well as other operations such as light engine movements and refuelling. This route is mainly steam based, but diesels can be run. There are some diesel re-fuelling points, I believe there is one at Dumfries.

That then brings me on to the locos. Unfortunately, this is where the route sort of falls down, coming with only a Black 5. However, this model of Black 5 is the better one, it comes in three variants and most importantly, it can be equipped with snow ploughs, and they do function, so despite the overall lack of locomotives, the loco is very much up to scratch and worth having in your collection. There are locos that use this route that are separate DLC, but they'll be covered by another review.

Overall, this route is excellent, and pretty much a must have for anybody looking for a route to buy. Overall, I give it a 9 out of 10.

Fantasic route with plenty to do in terms of passenger, freight and shunting. Despite only including one loco "Black 5" the one included is of better qaulity and plenty of loco's to add later on. The scenery is quiet good on both the mainline and branchlines with signalling varying between semaphore and electric. However adding the Lighting Effect Echancment Pack "3rd party from Armstrong Powerhouse" does make night driving very challenging as the route becomes very dark but even more enjoyable.

Fantastic route, bought it orginally for Quick Drive for my diesel collection. Ended up getting into the steam side of things, through this dlc. It's well worth purchasing. Is it worth list price? Yes. No hesitiation there.

The graphics are very well done, making the scenery look superby as you drive by. Couple of branch lines included. Also a lot of pre electric sidings at Carlisle, making it great to explore in free roam. Good selection of loco's and rolling stock as well. Takes something like 2.5hrs from end to end, so you get great value for money, on long haul journey's/.

All the dlc works, and is great fun, all the dlc can be achieved as well.

Highly recommend this for anybody who wants to add a quality branch line attachment. For either steam or diesel.

Enjoy............ 5/5

Wow! Get this route! This is the best route I own. The scenery never gets old and is constantly changing throughout this 100+ miles route. The Black 5 included is also very realistic. My only niggle is that the sounds on the Black 5 are kind of off, but this can be easily fixed by purchasing the sound pack from SteamSoundsSupreme.

Also, since this is so long, and has many little branches, there are almost limitless scenario opportunities so the workshop section is definitely worth a look for this route - and it's not often I'll say that about a route.

This route suits all steam locos and diesels from the 1950-60s era, and is a great challenge when you're running a little steam loco such as the J50 on the steep hills provided by this route.

Verdict: 10/10 - Get it! NOW!

Best steam route I have. All i'm going to say is Keith deserves my money. That's why WCML North and WCML Over Shap are also better, but WloS is the best out of them.

I bought this in the sale as I wanted another steam route but I wasn't expecting it to be so good. This route is highly detailed, long and has lots of stations and yards to drive around. Main and branch line running are both in there so if doesn't matter what or how you like to drive - this route provide a lot of entertainment. All the stations seem to have such personality, some with goods yards, some with sheds etc. and the countryside in between is delightful. The amount of industry is great too.

I've found that the locos which have scenarios for this DLC are also worth getting and are of high quality. Whilst the main focus tends to be steam with route, diesels like the Class 20 really fit too.

I've played this route far more than any other. Very highly recommended.

I just don't know what to say, because this route is by far the best steam-era route I currently have, and not just because of the Black 5 included. I thoughroughly recommend this route to anyone looking to buy it; you'll get a right stunner.
