About This Game

The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. This world was not made for you to understand.

But as you explore, slowly, meaning begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

Based on the award-winning 2011 Source mod of the same name, The Stanley Parable returns with new content, new ideas, a fresh coat of visual paint, and the stunning voicework of Kevan Brighting. Yes, definitely a strange game. A new approach, clearly. Actually, the first of its kind, I think. However, that is it. Once you see the game for what it is, it is very shallow. Yes new, but no depth. Gets borring quite quickly. Literal play time was around a few hours and then bordem. The game industry is so cheap these days. Literally like buying a cup of coffee rather than a polished masterpiece that will be a classic. Seems like no one needs to try because the consumers will buy any garbage. /end rant.

The most overrated game of all time.

A narrator tells you what to do, where to go. If you don't do what he says he gets annoyed. If you do what he says, he is satisfied and you've done well.

The narrator is well voiced, and it's quite fun to wind him up, but there's not really much more to the game than that. The story is convoluted and short. It does make you think, but the main questions that the game invites are left unanswered or they let you draw your own conclusions. Doesn't warrant the price tag of £9.99 as there's not much more than an hour or two of entertainment.

Whoa...
What makes The Stanley Parable such a great game?
It requires no skill.
You only use basic wasd movement.
Graphics are decent at best.
It is not long.
The Stanley Parable's one and only selling point is it's story. But man, it is one hell of a story (or rather, stories). You basically begin the game in the same setting every time. However, there are points in the game where you are forced to make a decision. These choices will ultimately lead you down different paths with vastly unique stories. It felt like there was deeper meaning behind each storyline, that there was a different lesson being taught as a consequence of your actions. Maybe I read too much into it, but it sure as hell impressed me.
The Stanley Parable will blow your mind.

Oh, and the narrator is incredible.

Review of The Stanley Parable

I simply love this game. I love the narator and I love the story or shoud I say stories in this game. It's brilliant how you can f**k with the narrator's story and how he can f**k with you back. There are so many easter eggs to figure out and had a blast doing it. I really wish it was longer. Developers, If by any chance you are reading this please make the game at a scale of 10-15 hours. I would seriosly play 60€ for this, as this game puts a smile on my face like no other . Yes it is short, but I loved the genius put into this. Buy this game guys! Overal this isn't a 10/10 for gameplay, but a 10/10 for story and entertainment.

Cleverly written and humorous game narrated by the incredibly talented Kevan Brighting. It's short but requires several playthroughs to discover all the possible outcomes for Stanley.

Don't forget to knock on door 430 five times. 10/10

Stanley Parable. R.I.P £10?

I've heard nothing but good things about the Stanley Parable ranging from comments about how great the narrator is to how it's changed their outlook on the gaming industry and while I'd love to be able to agree with all of this, I can't.
I do have to agree the narrator is great but the rest of the game doesn't live up to it.

Within 1.5 hours I experienced almost everything the game has to offer (besides the gimicky endings which add no substance) and it left me dissapointed. All the endings were boring and offered no sort of meaningful experience which for an asking price of £10 I'd at least expect a well thought out ending if the gameplay consists of at most 2 hours. Maybe something that actually leaves me thinking about the message not wondering why I thought buying this would ever be a good idea.

Maybe it was my high expections which were the downfall or maybe it was the boring linear gameplay with no exploration. Either way at the asking price I personally don't feel this game is in the slightest way worth it. You'd be better off reading an article online for free in 10 minutes instead of having the same message spread out over 2 hours of boring gameplay but if you really want to hear Kevan Brighting's voice go watch a YouTube let's play.
