About This Game

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is set in 2011, one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

A group of stalkers, for the first time, reaches the very heart of the Zone-the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant-and triggers a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blast of anomalous energy transforms the Zone: the once reliable and relatively safe roads are no longer so, the landscape is wiped clean by outbursts of anomalies, and previously unknown areas appear on the Zone map. Stalkers and expeditions perish or end up isolated within the lost territories.

With the anomalous activity at its maximum, the unstable Zone continues to tremor with outbursts. The transformation of the Zone map destabilizes the fragile balance of forces in the Zone. Hostilities for the new territories, artifact fields and spheres of influence flare up among groups. There are no more old enemies or friends - now, everyone watches out only for themselves. The Factions War has begun.

The protagonist is a mercenary who appeared at the edge of the opposition between stalker factions, Strelok and even the Zone itself. The main character experiences the key role in the events that led to the creation of the Zone right up to the point from which the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game begins.

What new challenges await stalkers within the depths of the new zone? Why do anomalous outbursts continue to rattle the Zone, and what can be done to stop them? Which faction will take the upper hand in the Factions War? These and many other questions will be answered in the official prequel - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.

I had high expectations for this game, because of all the good things i've heard about the stalker series. I didn't like this game because there isn't much freedom in the game, you can't free roam much so you have to do the story to progress.
That's why i like call of pripyat. That's a real game!

Great game, is an atmospheric masterpiece. Will even run on basic computers, granted sorted choppily. Unforgiving game where you worry more about how many bandages you have than ammo. This game is playable at best without mods. But when you do get mods, thats a different story. Gameplay becomes much more fun, while still retaining its challenging and rewarding side. It has a decent story but characters end up falling short to me. Anyway. if this sounds like something that you like, buy this game. If you are more of a casual. pass it up. And remember to stay cheeki breeki.

I loved STALKER: SoC so I bought this game, thinking it would be more of the same (or hoping at least). However, it isn't even close. Firstly, there are very few new places, and the old places have the best parts removed - no x18 or x19 labs! The labs were the best, scariest part of SoC. This game takes place mostly above ground, and it involves this lame broken factions element. It could have been great if implemented properly, but alas, you can get about an hour in game-time and it starts to go to hell as the missions break and you cannot go forwards in the storyline and have to restart the game. Over and over I would do the first mission "Clear the swamps" and then when the quest turns to "fight off the counter-attack" the supposed counter-attacking troops never materialize. I have tried numerous times and I cannot even finish the first part of the game. I hear there is a mod for it, but why? Why should I have to install a 3rd-party mod to make a broken game work? Dudes, this game cost me $20 and I can't even play it properly. LAME. DON'T BUY IT< torrent track it first just to witness its brokenness to see if it is something you can handle or even want to deal with.

Just be in the middle of a battle between two factions, then all of a sudden you hear an echoed "CHEEKI BREEKI" throughout the area, then you feel haunted for the rest of the game, fearing that the next "CHEEKI BREEKI" will be heard again, but this time, much louder, and before you know it, he's right next to you. As he takes out his AK-47 he whispers into your ear "Cheeki..." then guns you down relentlessly as he chugs vodka and yells "CHEEKI BREEKI" into the sunset as an emission is going off.
It's very beautiful. :^)

clear sky is the second part of stalker games, taking place around same time as first one, but from different perspective. from my opinion its best to play shadow of chernobyl first, since it makes sense to all little things in this game. i have this game as a non-steam cd and digital steam version (shared by friend) and while the base game is awesome, i recommend you buy it from a store. steam version is more laggy and unstable (idk why) but i think the non-steam works better.

A story from when I had a non-Steam copy of the game, that I posted as a comment in a thread back in 2013:

"I do have one specific memory of Clear Sky being creepy.
I was wandering around in the Red Forest, minding my own business. I noticed it was getting close to night, so I made my way to the group of Duty guys at the edge of the forest. When I got there, there were 2 of them dead, and one bleeding out on the ground.
I heard dogs, and saw them dragging one of the dead bodies back into the forest. Then, I heard a bloodsucker woosh from behind, and immediately ran to the guy bleeding out, healed him, and we tried to fight together.
That didn't last long as he got killed by the bloodsucker just 5 seconds after I healed him. I ran to the building, went up the stairs, basically cornered myself to the wall, got out my shotgun, and waited until morning. Every now and then, I would think the bloodsucker was gone, try to leave, only to hear that grunting/snorting sound and a woosh again, reminding me to stay put.
Eventually, it was morning, a lone Duty guy came back to take the building over again and it was over.
Remember, this was all while it was pitch black out at night and before I even knew what a bloodsucker was."

Edit: changed "the" to "that"

so i went back to this game and installed a hd mod and its amazing, you can choose if your a psychopath or a decent individual instead, the combats hard asf but it does not take it away from the games feel, i went both ways but think the psychopath route's better, go to an outpost and proceed to cap everyone there, they never gave you good weapons to begin with.

the guns are OK, not amazing like fallout but there ok, and more of a reason to install that mod at the bottom is cause it gives the most common pistol to have the abliity to ADS ingame :D

i was annoyed when i first played this game but now i enjoy it cause of the hd mod i installed :DDD

one last thing, the mod link - http://www.moddb.com/mods/clear-sky-complete/downloads/clear-sky-complete1

This game has tons of bugs and possibly can be considered the LOWEST of the trilogy but, this game is addicting as hell. 10/10 Would backstab both FREEDOM and DUTY and take their crap.

Bough the Stalker Set during the summer sale, and played a few hours on the first one, but the head bobbing made me mad so i uninstalled it.

Installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky, and must admit that I did not have high expectations adfter the first one ....

Turns out this is awesome, it is keeping me from feeding my cs:go addiction, no achievments, or multi player but cool story, weapon upgrades, dialogue and enough open world to keep the scripted storyline playable.

I have just collected a sniper weapon and am off to kill the bloodsucker ... tanked on vodka

10/10
