About This Game

MASTER THE ART OF WAR
In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun...The others will die by his sword.
Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun – the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.

Game Features

Total War: SHOGUN 2 features enhanced full 3D battles via land and sea, which made a name for the series, as well as the tactical campaign map that many refer to as the heart and soul of Total War. Featuring a brand new AI system inspired by the scriptures that influenced Japanese warfare, the millennia old Chinese “Art of War”, the Creative Assembly brings the wisdom of Master Sun Tsu to Total War: SHOGUN 2. Analysing this ancient text enabled the Creative Assembly to implement easy to understand yet deep strategical gameplay.
  • CONQUER the islands of Japan in the 16th century. Lead vast armies of samurai and fleets of giant warships into breathtaking real-time battles.
  • BUILD your kingdom on the inviting and turn-based campaign map. Wield economic, political, and military power to amass wealth, armies, and influence.
  • SCHEME according to the "Art of War" by Sun Tzu. Use fire and siege tactics, spies and assassins to adapt to the ever-changing conditions on the battlefield and throughout your kingdom.
  • BATTLE ONLINE and experience the main campaign in two-player mode. Then join epic online battles with up to 8 players and lead your online army to glory in special campaigns.

New to Total War in SHOGUN 2

  • New RPG skills and experience for your Generals and Agents.
  • New Multi-stage Sieges - scaling the walls is only the beginning!
  • New Hero units inspire your men and carve through the enemy.
  • New rotating 3D campaign map.

>Playing as the Saga in Fall of the Samurai
>Fiercly loyal to the Shogun.
>At first, I follow traditional bushido; not using guns, railroads, telephones, keeping to tradition.
>Nothing of great interest happens, I conquer a few provinces...
>All of a sudden, someone I'm fighting has Line Infantry equipped with modern musket rifles, and parrot cannons.
> Steel my men, Bonzai charge. They're cut down by a hail of gunfire and cannonballs.
>Dishonored forever, I see the writing on the wall; the old way is no longer viable, I must be victorious.
>Begin modernising, building factories, mines, commercializing my farming, and yes, adopting rifles.
>I switch my loyalties to the Pro-Modernization Emperor.
>I control the only port permitted to trade with the West.
>I use that to my advantage. I import British marines and even buy an Ironclad Warship.

>This is it, the final battle between the Shogun's Forces and the Emperor Loyalists.

>The Shogun is using elite katana samurai, cavalry, and expert bowmen. They're much more experienced than my men. They've dedicated their lives to perfecting the Art of Bushido, the Samurai Code.

>The Shogun's men charge my line.

>My Gatling guns begin to crank, filling his flanks with bullets, Samurai begin falling in a giant cloud of blood.

>My main line lifts up their muskets and fire, peppering their entire army with rifle fire.

>I order my Armstrong Cannons to begin punching into their main force.

>It's a massacre.

>I win, easily.

>Get up from my computer, contemplating that I was willing to give up my integrity in the name of victory, but in the end, I lost moreso than the enemy I had just defeated.

>Spend the next thirty minutes smoking a cigarette outside on my padio, looking at the trees and the sky.

>I have dishonored myself forever, and this game has shown me that I was willing to betray who I was, what I cared for, just so I could win. I vow to change myself.

>10/10 would change my entire life around again.

The game deserves its name because indeed it is shogun of the all total war games.Neither Rome II nor Warhammer could beat this game. The game is the best game of the series which make you feel the times of Medieval Japan. The other games are not in balance between battlefield and gameplay on the map. However, in Shogun II you can enjoy equally from gameplay on the map and battlefield. In addition, you learn many things from the game which only a native Japan could know. The armours, arms, units even the diplomacy is more real than the other games. For example, you cannot buy or sell your lands to another daimyo contrary to the other Total War games, because the lands are scarce and limited, thus you could not sell your precious lands another daimyo. There are many things should be mentioned about the game.Maybe I can claim exaggeratedly the game is the best game in gaming history.

I do not need to praise its multiplayer. The game bringed together many different types of total warriors whose best total war game is Napoleon or Medieval or Rome.Nevertheless, the other games do not have this capacity and unfortunately, the best total war players leaved the series or in the realm of Warhammer which I think destroyed the content and mentality of the series.Anyway, the series was already destroyed by hands of developers of Rome II...

Shogun 2 Total war is really a star among the others. Maybe the best one.

Pros: -beautiful graphics and japanese-themed textures
-godly music
-nice AI, the enemy rarely does dumb moves in battlefield and sometimes carries out nice tactics
-very well crafted units
-interesting and lasting multiplayer gameplay

Cons: -moderate city-building
-some unit dlcs are worthless(the add trivia units for their price)

Very good game overall, definitely 9/10

The last Total War game that I though was amazing. I think every Total War game since this has gone backwards in some way compared to this. Runs fine on Windows 10.

One of the better Total War games made. I've done 2 playthroughs and easily see myself beating it a 3rd time in the future.

Part of a great series

The Total War series have been always among my favorite games. Rome, Medieval, Medieval 2 and others. This game makes it more interesting to play and offers even more detailed game mode than the previous games mentioned. Learning more about Japan and Japanese cultures is a huge plus for me as a history enthusiast. I recommend it to gamers who enjoy other Total War series. Cheers!

Being someone who has played the previous 2 installments before shogun 2 extensively, what I can definitely say is that shogun is the first truly modern total war, resembling the series more recent titles, a lot more then the previous ones. Shogun however is a stand alone itself, retaining what made total war great immediately prior to this game, and adding many mechanics that a modern player of the series would recognize. Shogun however is the Ferrari of the total war series. Everything from the graphics, to the smoothness of how the game handles, and controls. Shogun is very under appreciated, due to it being limited to just Japanese style warfare, but this game truly does handle much better then stupid Rome 2 and much more balanced combat than Attila or Warhammer. Heed my words.....CA has failed to make a total war this good when the game was on a subject that more people would be interested in. Shogun mp was the most unique experience between all the total wars thus far too, since you can basically make your own faction with your own colors and unique units. Many features from this game need to be brought back, it would really save the mp in future total wars.
