It's okay. At the price of 5 dollars that you can buy it at now, I would definitely reccomend it. But after 40 hours it gets boring, and the space stage is pretty tedious and not fun as you get late into it.

Overall, this game is welldone. It is still one of my childhood favorites and I have been familiar with the game (and Maxis) since 2009 when it first came out. It's very similar to the gameplay of soon-to-be "No Man's Sky", just not as complex. Unfortunately, after the civilization stage is where the game starts going downhill for myself. I understand there is a lot more to do, but it's very overwhelming and rather confusing in the space stage.
Other than that, everything else is perfectly fine.

I recommend this game for people that can handle repetitive games. I've played this game so many times its not countable.
The only problem with this game and is honestly a huge disappointment is the fact that accounts created after whatever month it was, in 2013, i guess i should say if you have an account created after 2013, you cant play spore online. its kind of sad, and i've tried everything including making a new account.

My favorite stages are Cell Stage, Creature Stage, and Space Stage.

Cell stage is one of the most fun because you're a growing cell in the ocean and you get to unlock pieces by killing other cells and eating them, unless you're an herbivore.

Creature stage is the second most fun stage because you have so many parts to choose from to put on your creatures, and theres so many different types of creatures you can make and the possibilities are endless.

Space stage is definitely the most fun stage. It has the most content, it pretty much goes on forever, and theres just so much fun things to do.

I've seen so many negative reviews telling about how this game crashes, or the game is repetitive, or space stage is a letdown... The major one in my opinion would probably have to be repetitive. So my question is: Why do you buy a game that you could most likely see being a repetitive game? Like don't you look at trailers first before playing the game?
Here are my pros and cons for the game.

Pros:
-Theres many different paths to take
-The possibilities are almost endless to making your creatures (unless you're uncreative like me)
-All stages are really fun to play

This is actually all i could think of for pros. on to cons!

Cons:
-For some computers it crashes constantly and is unplayable.
-Can't play online
-Civilization is way too easy and simple. Its also short.
-Apparently a lot of people don't like the controls.
-Not a lot of parts in cell stage, and Maxis has access to parts we cannot get (Damn you Maxis!)

And thats all i have here. its a really fun game that is for people that do not mind doing the same thing over and over again. AKA repetitive-ness.

OH AND I HAVE TO MENTION ONE LAST THING! don't get the creepy and cute parts pack. I mean like... just don't. Its only worth it on sale. it cost 20 dollars and adds a small amount of content, so really, its only worth it on sale and some of the hands/feet are pretty ugly and the heads aren't very cool either, besides the carnivore heads, i actually love them. almost everything else is garbage. only the creature stage parts i've seen though, i didn't look in at any other creepy and cute stuff. I recommend it if it is on sale. but not at all price.

I used to play it in when it just came out. I lost the cd so when I came across it in the Steam sale I coulnd't resist buying it. It's still a fun little game for an occasional player like me.
I like how you can customize your species but it does take some getting used to. I only wish that you could add fur to them.

Good game, crashes sometimes though. 9/10

Ps. be sure to raise your graphics cache if you don't want it to crash constantly.

Even though this is an older game it is still a good game. It does require people to be creative. I highly recommend this game if you have young kids, siblings, or just have some free time on your hands.

Great game! (Spoiler Alert!) As you start out in the sea of some planet that you chose, you eat others and things found in the waters to eventually become a land animal. As you progress you get to create your own creature and make civilization. Others advance with you to become an enemy or an ally. You then take over the planet and create your first space ship to explore space, try taking other planets, and going into war with other colonies on other planets just because you want to. 10/10

Game is amazing! I have been playing this game since I was around 10 years old.
Even now it's still got good graphics (I think they are amazing, even now they are still good)

9/10. I take 1 off just because I think they could have improved parts of the game, mainly in the civilization stage, it is a bit too easy.

This was one of my first games on steam, and I still play it. I have loved everything about this, from the cell stage to the space age, and any other gamer will say the same. I highly recommend it. The graphics aren't great, but somehow that just adds to the feel of evolving your creature, giving it everything it needs to survive and become sentient. Whether you like shooters, RPGs, MMOs, Sandboxes, Indies or just a casual gamer, YOU NEED TO GET THIS GAME. so stop reading this reveiw, thinking about whether to spend 20.00 USD on something you won't play, AND BUY IT. FULL STOP. PERIOD. THE BUY BUTTON IS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE, NOT DOWN HERE.

Spore is a great game. I've been playing for over 24 hours now in total across Spore and Spore: Galactic Adventures. You start off as a cell, evolve into higher level species and eventually become a spacefaring civilization. I've learned a few different things about the game that I feel newer players could have use of knowing.

  • Evolve your creature to max in the creature stage if you plan on playing with Galactic Adventures. You will be using creature stage abilities a lot here, better make sure that it becomes as easy as possible for you.
  • Save often. Spore crashes occasionally, and with the immersiveness of the game, it's easy to forget to save. Spore does NOT have auto-save functionality.
  • One more thing that a lot of people miss: BACK UP YOUR SPORE DATA FOLDERS! I had the game suddenly delete all my progress in Spore without any warning. I don't know the programming logic that would result in such a thing happening, but when I launched Spore yesterday, I was greeted with the main menu with no saves in it. Luckily I already had an older backup of the data as I copied it for playing on another computer once, but I've lost a lot of progress.

Spore data folders may be found at
%appdata%\Spore
as well as "My Spore Creatures" in your Documents folder. Back them up regularly.
