About This Game

When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

Enhanced for the PC

  • Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes “The Signal” and “The Writer”
  • Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than the Xbox360 version.

  • Lots of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios!

A Psycological-triller based heavily on Twin peaks and Steven Kings works. Great story, entertaining gameplay mechanics. You use light based weapons (flash light, flash-bang grenades, flares) to chip away at shadowy enemies armor and hit them with a nice revolver/shotgun blast. Beautiful vistas and environments, lots of colectibles. Anyone looking for a good triller with engaging gameplay should play this.

This game provides a thrilling horror story with a very interesting concept!
The awesome cinamatic effects in it this game is what makes it SHINE! (ha, get it?)

Totally recommend this game even for people who are not fans of horror-genre.

Incredibly simple combat, and a HUGE emphasis on collectibles. It's suppose to be a horror game, but it wants you to collect hundreds of coffee cups and book pages, and pointless other collectibles. If you avoid all collectibles, this game will only take you maybe 7 hours. Otherwise, you will aimlessly wander areas far longer than you should, which artificially makes the game longer.

One of the best story driven games i have ever played in my years of gaming. If you love a good story i recommend if you love a good shooter then i also recommend. Everything is great the only downside is i wish they would make a second one.

Oyun linear bir yapıya sahip olsa da kendisini oynattırıyor. Farklı bir oynanışa sahip olduğu söylenenebilir. Kontrol açısından pek zorlamıyor oyun. Hikayesi de fena değil.

If you enjoy Stephen King novels, the plot of this game is right up your alley. It's a nice horror-ish game that relies on a creepy atmosphere instead of jump scares.

Ok, honestly, I was skeptical at first. After all, I had read the negative reviews (as I tend to do) and I was worried about the whole Fight With Light stuff. Plus it's Microsoft, right?

After playing and beating both the game and the specials, I can seriously say that I enjoyed every minute of it. The story was fantastic -- as a writer myself, I found I could relate to Wake more than I could other main characters in other games.

The gameplay didn't feel as though I had to chase down what I needed from one side of the town to the next, like some games do. Everything was pretty much in the same area although I had to go looking sometimes. None of the "puzzles" were extremely hard -- of course, I played on "casual" mode because I'm still kinda new to the realm of shooting games, so I'd imagine that there would be more "bad guys" to kill rather than more difficult puzzles.

Driving a car sucked -- I wish they'd have let you use the moiuse to control it rather than the keyboard options but once I got used to it, it was... meh, okay.

Definitely would recommend checking this out if you like a story-rich game. Alan narrates a lot of it and you can read his manuscript pages as you find them to get more insight as to what's going on.

Tl:dr This is a great game 10/10

Pros
1.Eerie atmosphere
2.Good story
3.Gameplay keeps you alert at all times
4.Graphics and scenery is amazing
5.Awesome music
6.Light vs Dark=amazing

Cons
1.Gameplay is repetitive

Overall I can't really think of any more cons simply because this is a GOOD game. I recommend this to gamers looking for story and creepy atmosphere.

While I want to give this a recommendation, the repetitive gameplay and author within a story is bothersomely annoying. The weird gameplay mechanics in this like using light to kill enemies gets to be tedious and make the player feel helpless as they can do little at times to save Wake. The cheesy writing for the characters dialog detracts from the good voice acting. It feels like something was missing from this title to make it really engrossing.

I normally don't play Horror Games, but man this game was good!

10/10 would play again and probably will.

Excellent story and enjoyable gameplay. Journey with Alan as he investigates the darkness, and purges it with light.

One of the best psychological thrillers ever made. The protagonist is writer, surrounded by mystical and scaring events.

Good features

  • Suspense atmosphere
  • Exciting story
  • Dark and intriguing ambiance
  • Unusual appearance in the best Stephen King's traditions
  • Interesting DLC

I recommend it for all, but remember: when you are inside the writer's nightmare, only light, coffee and manuscript may save you.

Alan Wake, the tale of a writer who has a lightswitch. . .™

Pros:
  • A vast array of coffee thermoses to collect
  • Romantic night-time walks in the park
  • Family sitcom shows on TV's
  • Flying cars and barrels
  • Barry Wheeler

Cons:
  • Energizer batteries don't seem to be too great
  • Asthmatic woman breathing heavily around chests and signs in the park
  • In-game spoilers
  • Poltergeists who control vehicles seem to be drunk
  • Scares that get repetitious after the first time
  • Not enough Barry Wheeler

I would give this game 87 out of 106 manuscript pages (because that is all I have to give).

*note* since the PC version has the DLC's included . . . You can also collect 10 alarm clocks, 6 cardboard standees and 10 video games. And I guess you can find out what happened after the main story, but who cares about that when you got collectables.

Not if the game needed any more recommendation, but with all the thrill it gave me, I feel that I owe it one.

After spending (way too?) many hours playing pc games, you realise that only a couple of them truly make their mark and stay with you for good. The story of Alan Wake is one of them for me. I remember hard times getting up, being late to work or sleepy all day because I sat down the night before to play a bit and I just couldn't get up without seeing what is to come next! Sam Lake is a genius at storytelling (same guy who had you pinned to your chair just to see how Max Payne handles the twisted plot in 2001). As a true milestone in the horror/thriller genre, Alan Wake is a must. It has a pretty decent price nowdays when on sale. Absolutelly worth every penny.

Alan Wake is a third person surival horror-esque game in the same vein of Resident Evil, however focusing more on story telling than engrossing gameplay or rpg like elements. Essentially you are a writer, Alan Wake, who takes a retreat to Bright Falls, a secluded retreat town, in order to find inspiration for your next work though seemingly becomes entrapped by a supernatural force that can be only described readily as The Dark. The gameplay revolves around you traversing around Bright Falls encovering the mystery, saving your girlfriend, and surviving against the force that seems to haunt you.

Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a story driven exprience, as while the gameplay is engaging it is incredibly repetitive and becomes my least favorite part of the game quickly.

You will want to find Alice just as much as Wake. (8/10)

Pros:
- Good story and atmosphere (thriller/fun/romance...similar to the "Bag of Bones" book from Stephen King)
- Good music
- Nice graphics and detailed environment

Cons:
- Gameplay is very repetitive (when I have fallen into the same situation for the 10th time i was like "come on game")
- The enemies are more annoying than scary
