LEGO® Worlds

If you think about it, Lego and Fortnite have a lot in common. There's the building element, obviously, but as all good Lego fans know it's just as much fun to break things up and start over.

And there's plenty of destruction on offer in this imagining of a Lego Fortnite Battle Royale, made by fan Bearly Regal using sandbox construction game Lego Worlds.

The star of the show, really, is the recreation of Fortnite's most famous location - Tilted Towers. The skyscrapers, clock towers and streets are all there, and all able to be be blown to pieces.

If you somehow haven't given Overwatch a try and are still considering doing so, you may want to give it a whirl this weekend, as Blizzard is making the game free on PC from 26th to 30th of July.

Punters will be able to access the full roster of heroes, including Overwatch's newest (and cutest) member Wrecking Ball, in addition to 18 full maps. Players will also be able to try modes such as Quick Play, Arcade and Custom Games. Most of the normal features of the game will remain, such as the ability to level up and earn items from loot boxes, but achievements are apparently being disabled for the weekend. For those who decide to buy Overwatch, any progress achieved during the free period will be saved - providing players use the same account from the free weekend to buy the full game.

The free period will be available for players in Europe, Asia and the Americas from 11:00am PDT (for British players, that's 7:00pm BST). Before downloading the game, you'll need to register for a Blizzard account via the Overwatch free weekend client, which will also become available on the 26th.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda Games Studios, maker of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games, tends to be a pretty secretive place. We won't hear anything for ages and then announcements for Fallout: 76, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 come along at once and everybody frantically starts planning time off work.

The games are great but they're not, according to studio leader Todd Howard,
the greatest thing Bethesda Game Studios does. That honour belongs to something the studio doesn't shout about, a fairly private thing. Every so often Bethesda Game Studios opens its doors to terminally ill children who wish to see where their favourite games are made. It's part of the company's quiet ongoing support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"You want a reality check at work..." -Todd Howard.

It's impressive enough when a speedrunner completes one game in record time. But five Fallout games, all in under 90 minutes? Now that's something really SPECIAL.

The record-breaking run, which clocks in at 1:29:47 without load times, has been posted to Youtube by speedrunner 'tomatoanus'. According to speedrun.com, this is the fastest attempt ever to complete all the main Fallout games.

The speedrun was performed on PC, in the "%any category", played on easy difficulty with the use of glitches. For those interested in learning how tomatoanus did it, take a look at his FAQ notes, which detail the glitches and tricks he used in fascinating detail. Who knew playing Fallout New Vegas in Italian can speed up a run?

DARK SOULS™ III

If the games we play are anything to go by, the depths of hell are one of humankind's favourite destinations when it comes to travels of the mind. Few fantasy RPGs or horror games could be considered complete without at least a quick excursion into the domain of demons and sinners. And what better place to conclude your game than hell itself? What better villains to fight than the citizens of Pandemonium? Hell has found a steady home in many kinds of games, and its popularity shows no sign of abating.

"A dungeon horrible, on all sides round

As one great furnace flamed, yet from those flames

Emphasis on "had", though.

Epic has concluded an investigation into cheating at Fortnite's Summer Skirmish competition.

Winner Idropz_Bodies netted $130,000 after successfully eliminating 129 competitors over the weekend, but spectators grew suspicious and accused the PlayStation 4 player - who was not live streaming at the time - of using a keyboard and mouse and colluding with other players to fix match outcomes.

"A crime was committed yesterday during the Saturday Skirmish," stated an emotive post on Reddit (via IGN). "Idropz_Bodies cheated his way to $130,000. Epic, do not be foolish. This is burglary. There must be a FULL-ON investigation on his matches played."

Singularity™

You may remember Singularity as the game Activision wanted to forget. Developed by Raven Software - formerly the creators of Heretic, Soldier of Fortune, and Jedi Outcast - Singularity was released in 2010 with minimal fanfare. It received mostly respectable reviews but sold poorly, in no small part because Activision kicked it out of the door with so little support it made Universal Credit look like winning the lottery.

It was a truly bizarre sequences of events, almost as if Activision wanted the game to do badly. The tragic irony is that Singularity is a more interesting singleplayer FPS than every Call of Duty Activision has released since Modern Warfare, combining a high-concept, time-hopping story with oodles of clever mechanics, and a weapon-roster to rival Bulletstorm and Titanfall 2.

You play Sergeant Renko, a special operative dispatched to the Russian island of Katorga to investigate anomalous readings picked up by a US satellite. Once there, you discover a crumbling Soviet facility dedicated to researching a substance known as E-99, more powerful than the atom bomb and twice as volatile. Indeed, only an accident at the facility in 1955 spared the West from annihilation, causing the Russians to abandon the island.
