Why Early Access?

“Marble Odyssey will offer a range of levels, each with a blend of rescue, treasure hunt, and racing. To make those levels a wide range of elements come into play, obstacles and bonuses and more.

Early Access will allow us to fully explore the relationship between our levels layout, and the elements placed on them. Our player's feedback will be key to this process. Is a levels layout fun? Are there any sticking points, areas which are great but could be enhanced. Maybe a NEW item is required to really make a levels concept shine.

Are our levels too hard, too easy, are there problems with components, bugs, or is the idea just not working. All of these considerations will be explored with our Early Access players.

It will also help steer the direction of our future DLC level packs, based on user feedback. We will be fully open to feedback about future levels, and also how those levels link. Should we produce themed level packs, with a defined difficulty level.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for early access to last from three to six months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned additions to the game for the final release are...

  • Polish all 20 initial levels to completion both in terms of layout and elements used.
  • Addition of artwork to levels, including set dressing items, effects and 2D art.
  • Re-work of Menus, taking them to final finish.
  • Expand the number of Bad Guy types, and how the attack the player.
  • Add Steam achievements.
  • Link Steam achievements to player skins (custom marbles) further rewarding players.
  • Solidify unlocking of skins for more common marble types
  • Improve our in-game animation for characters for interaction
  • Use the in-game characters to give guidance to the player and provide some light game plot.
  • Add paid for DLC skins to store and in-game UI
  • Add paid for DLC levels capability in-game UI

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is very much playable, and features all of the planned initial 20 levels to various levels of completion. Many of the planned in-game features are realised, but require further polish and tweaks based on player feedback. There is one level, with a bad guy on it, but we plan to add further levels where Baddies feature, and to expand on the types of Baddies.

The UI's are currently functional and attractive, but are works in progress, as are are the in-game graphics, which we plan to polish and set dress as we approach the full release. There are plans for DLC for both player skins and level packs, but these have not currently been implemented.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will feature a higher price during the Early Access period than full release. We really want to welcome in a smaller community of invested and focussed players that love this genre of games.

We are looking for quality feedback, to help shape Odyssey into the best experience it can be! To reflect the higher price, our early access testers enthusiasm and loyalty will be rewarded with free DLC and in-game items when available after the full release. These free items will make their initially higher investment work out in the long run, so that Early Access buyers will get the game plus the first four level sets at a cheaper price than those that buy the final release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community can interact with us directly on our server or for more informal chat on our Discord Sever, where we have a dedicated Channel for Early Access customers.

We want to involve our community in the types of levels that make it into the full release and how those levels are realised, both in terms of layout and the elements that will make them challenging.

Levels can be balanced to be based on dexterity, such as platformer like levels where you hop from platform to platform, motor-cross like challenges where you fly through the air, or time trials and more. Just how should these be blended? Should the game lean towards one type, or be a mix of these archetypes?

Just how difficult should our levels be? We want our community help test our levels and balance their challenge. The development team have played Marble Odyssey over a number of months. Our community will give a fresh perspective on just how challenging each level should be and will help shape the flow of the player from novice, to marbalista speed demons.

Levels feature devices, such as Pinball bumpers and kickouts, Impulsers and speed traps. We want our communities feedback on how vicous or forgiving these elements should be. We are of course open to new element ideas as well.

You can collect marbles in-game, we will be open to feedback and designs on which marbles should be achieved in-game, linked to Steam achievements or through our Steam DLC store.

We plan future packs of levels as DLC. We will work with our community to produce the outlines of levels for those DLC packs, to continue Odie's journey post full release.”

About This Game

Marble Odyssey follows the journey of Odie, a marble thrust into a series of tests of dexterity, speed and quick thinking as Odie attempts to rescue himself and his friends, who have been secreted across a series of mysterious ocean islands. Each of the Odysseys initial 25 levels, offer a blend of rescue mission, treasure hunt, and time trial. Its your challenge to navigate each levels goals, and achieve the perfect score.

  • 20 Levels of action
  • Each level needs a combination of speed, marble rescue and point collection to win.
  • Some levels are guarded by Baddies, marbles warped to evil that will try and thwart your progress!
  • Special powers allow your marble to Jump, Brake and Turbo speed.
  • Pit yourself against a range of challenges, including perilous ledges, chasm spanning jumps and pinball table elements (Plus more!).
  • Unlock-able Marble Skins, achieved by rescuing your marble comrades, try to collect them all across your adventures.
  • Unique Marble skins, available from the Steam store, will allow you to expand your Marble collection and express your individuality.
  • DLC Level packs, will offer further tests of dexterity, quick-thinking and speed (post full release).
