Why Early Access?

“We strongly believe that Early Access is the best model to explore new VR experiences. With our previous game (Late For Work), we spent 26 months in Early Access and hope you will judge our commitment to deliver a quality game by looking at our track record.

We’ve invested a lot of resources into this concept and it is very promising. We want to see if there’s an audience for this game and if it resonates the same we do.

By releasing early, we are seeking your feedback and support as we develop the full scope of the game. We have tons of ideas we want to implement, lots of possible content, new features and improvements (all of which you can find on our public roadmap).

We develop in the open and need your feedback to build the most fun and comfortable experience possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan 3-9 months of development depending on the reception of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have:
  • A lot more content, including new areas, biomes, diversity of NPCs and animals, unique characters, events, items, weapons. Basically we will have a lot more of the various content we have in the game.
  • Our unlock progression will be further fleshed to include secondary goals, power-ups (both permanent and not), challenges and achievements.
  • Our core movement and interaction mechanics will be further improved, polished and extended to provide the most dynamic game possible. Toggles and comfort modes of various complexity will be supported.
  • Our game will be a lot more balanced and each run will feel even more unique.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains:
  • A fully playable experience, including multiple levels of difficulty and a (basic) content and progression unlock system
  • A procedurally generated world
  • A fully simulated world, with fun, arcadey physics
  • Intuitive movement system, climbing system, throwing, shooting and melee
  • AI of various complexity
  • A relatively balanced progression
  • Lots of content
  • A relatively stable experience and a commitment of focusing on stability
  • A motivated development team, a flexible codebase and a pre-existing delivery pipeline that allow us to make improvements quickly

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to gradually increase the price as we ship significant new content and major features. We want to reward players who invest in our vision early.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

Our roadmap is public.

Early Access

This game is heavily in development. Our previous game Late For Work spent 23 months in Early Access and received 13 major updates. It is one of the highest-rated VR party games. With GrowRilla we are updating at an even faster pace. The core game is stable but we are still experimenting and improving all aspects of the game. This includes:

  • Polishing all the core interactions: movement, climbing, shooting, melee fighting, eating, throwing
  • Better AI: sneakier enemies, coordination, reaction and unexpected events
  • Tons of new content: new areas, new biomes, more structures, NPCs, animals. More weapons, new items.
  • Fleshing out the meta-game and procedural generation: improved progression system, secrets, secondary goals, challenges and power-ups
  • Gameplay and difficulty balancing
  • And everything else! UI, tutorial, storyline, feedback, home base, sound effects, animations
