In Pandemic Express - Zombie Escape, a group of humans try to outrun a player-controlled swarm of infected. Everyone spawns in a train station until one is randomly infected and needs to turn fleeing survivors into zombies. Survivors try to escape by train.

Why Early Access?

“Pandemic Express is a new type of game - a mixture of open world session based shooter infused with the "zombie escape" formula. This means game design is extremely iterative, and since early 2019 we've been running 3 playtests a week iterating on the design. Early Access is the next step in this iteration. Alongside this, we will obviously have bugs and technical issues which we'll need to work through. Early Access makes sense here.”

“We anticipate being in Early Access through 2019”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have a more cohesive design. Right now we have only a couple of types of zombies, including the bomber and the invisble zombie. We want to experiment more by adding a tank-style zombie class. On the humans side, we are looking at more weapons and abilities for humans as they fight off the hordes of zombies. Currently we have 2 types of airdrops, and are considering adding more - alongside weapons and items.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently the game has its full core game loop, procedurally generated spawn points and end goals, and 3 tiers of weapons. Once players turn into zombies, they have the chance to spawn with one of 3 classes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be more expensive when it comes out of Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will engage with the community on forums and our discord channel ( to listen to feedback and iterate together with the community.”

Update 14/08/2019

Hey everyone! Here's the full list of changes in the latest update:

v.. 19/08/14

  • A tutorial has been added to the warm-up map. The tutorial will be offered to players who have played less than 5 matches.
    Developer Comment: For now we have implemented a tutorial for basic mechanics: double jumping, sliding and simple gunjumping. In future updates we will expand the tutorial, offering more complex mechanics.

  • Added item store system. Set of Doubts and Mask of Vanity are available for purchase. Sets can be purchased for stars, received after a match.
    Developer Comment: We want to give a better sense of progression and growth in the game. All future sets will be obtainable using the same system.

  • There will be a temporary wipe of all points and levels. This is temporary.
    Developer Comment: In the coming days, we will convert all the old values into the new system that will preserve all the current progression. This change is necessary since in the new system some statistics conflict with the old ones.

  • The endgame screen has been changed. Added accounting for the new points system. Changed the rating system.
    Developer Comment: Stars are shown on the new screen - Game Currency. The score of the players and the stars are working in test mode and will change during the balancing process.

    Table of values for the new system:

  • Reduced the number of points received from the damage dealt to a Conductor.
    Developer Comment: This is a temporary solution introduced in order to reduce points farming on several conductors. In the future we plan to revise the Conductor itself and fix the bug with their number.

  • Fixed a bug where the extra heart perk of the Rebellion Set disappeared.

Hey everyone! Here's the full list of changes in the latest update:

  • Added HP bars over Сonductors

  • Mimic names are now taken from the list of human players’ names in the match
    Developer Comment: Previously we used a name generator, but it wasn't as inventive as a real person. Experienced players would quickly discover Mimics, so we decided to use real nicknames from matches. In the future, we plan to mimic not only nicknames, but also costumes, crowns, etc.

  • New points system
    Developer Comment: The system is now in test mode and will be updated for balancing in the coming days. The main task is to equalize the number of points received per match for zombies and for humans.

  • New class UI for choosing zombies
    Developer Comment: This update affected the ergonomics of the interface. The interface has become more compact and easier to use. Minor bugs are still present, such as speed drops when changing a class. We will fix them in future updates.

  • Added new airdrop spots

  • Changed the distance of rendering enemy tags and HP bars from 10 to 20 meters.

  • Added a perk for the Rebellion set – one heart of armor at the start of a match.
    Developer Comment: Every set will come with its unique perk, including the base one from this update. We thought that the additional armor heart will help the new players. In the future different sets with different perks will help emphasize the individual playstyle of a player.
    There is a known bug where the perk is not working with the bag of doubts in the inventory. It will be fixed soon.

  • Fixed some instances of server crashes

About This Game

Welcome to Pandemic Express - Zombie Escape! We've played a lot of Zombie Escape-style mods, and wanted to make something standalone, and on a large scale. Up to 30 players spawn in a large world. One of them gets randomly infected, and has to spread the infection turning everyone into zombies. The human players desperately try to escape on a train through an onslaught of what seems like endless zombie hordes.

We brought the unique ZOMBIE MOD experience into a standalone game

Imagine CS zombie mod infused with the DNA of a large-scale open world shooter, set in a post-soviet ghost town. And trains. We like trains.

Playing as a Human

  • Loot: Find gear in abandoned houses
  • Cooperate: Work with teammates to survive
  • Fight: Kill zombies with anything you have

Playing as a Zombie

  • Resurrect: Respawn instantly and close to fellow zombies
  • Hunt: Find the humans hiding around the map
