Project Scrapper is a casual 2D beat-'em-up where players manipulate gravity to accomplish objectives. Armed with just gravitational rivets and an anti-gravity jump, players will need to come up with their own strategies on the fly to succeed.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Project Scrapper has been developed by a predominantly one-person team on a shoestring budget, and as a result, has had a very insulated development lifetime. Now that the gameplay loop is largely solidified, I am excited to begin collecting feedback from the community that the game is built for, as community feedback will be the main criteria when prioritizing any improvements going forward.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The expectation is to have a preliminary early access lifetime of 6 months which will be used primarily for polishing in the immediate future with additional features and content being targeted for after game is in a technically sound state.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The goal as of now is to provide more quality of life improvements such as key binding configuration, lobby searching, local play, controller support, and additional lobby configurations.
A secondary goal would be to include at least one more game mode, additional maps and player customization.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Project Scrapper is now at the point where players can enjoy the core features with a complete online gameplay loop with up to 4 total players across 3 game modes and 6 maps. Players are able to create a public lobby with Steam integration and view a small list of other online lobbies so they can play with others.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, as I receive and implement feedback and additional features and content are added, the price will be increased, but right now, priority #1 is to receive feedback.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Suggestions for additional improvements and which improvement will be prioritized will be largely up to community feedback.
Feedback will be coordinated through my associated X account (@WhaleSnailGames) and Steam's community discussion boards.”

About This Game

Project Scrapper is a casual 2D beat-'em-up where players use gravity rivets that draw objects together to manipulate the environment. The wide applicability of these rivets allow players to employ whatever strategies they come up with. Launch environmental objects at opponents to knock them down or launch your opponents themselves. Use the rivets to keep objective items from other players. In some game modes, players can even tear apart the panels composing the map. Additionally, players are equipped with an anti-gravity jump that lets them jump onto and run along surfaces to navigate Project Scrapper's multidimensionally designed maps.

Fight against other players in several game modes

  • Scrapmatch - An elimination game mode with a Project Scrapper twist where players destroy the map to knock each other out

  • Collection - Gather as many cubes as possible in your collection area and steal cubes from other players. The more cubes, the faster your score goes up

  • Hat Stack - A test to observe asset gathering AND protection, Scrappers will gather hats from throughout the level. Similar to Collection, players are incentivized to collect as many as possible. However, the more hats they collect, the higher their hat stack will grow, and the higher a hat stack, the harder it is to protect

Play in maps with game mechanics specific to each

  • Testing Facility - A standard map (or as standard as it is in Project Scrapper). A variant is also available that contains an anti-gravity wrecking ball that can destroy the facility's walls

  • Solar - Jump from planet to moving planet, dodging asteroid storms and avoiding the incineration at the hands of the sun (Scrapper bots are durable, but not that durable)

  • Playroom - Two rooms connected by a regularly opening door. Each also contains a toy chest that spits out toys

  • Towers - Two office buildings with multiple rooms to divide players until destroyed. As well as a lot of office supplies to throw at each other

  • Pipeworks - A larger map with pipes around the borders that can transport objects and a button that creates TNT, useful for blowing up opponents.
