Why Early Access?

“Masters of Puzzle is a complex game with a rich roadmap still ahead of it. While currently most of the solo features are ready and fully playable, we still have a significant road to cover until we can deliver to you all the planned ways to enjoy the game. In addition, we would like to hear your constructive feedback and suggestions early on, so that we can evolve the game in the right direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Based on our current development pace and experience, we expect to be able to deliver the complete game to you in 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Major features like multiplayer, the in-game shop, contests and leaderboards, achievements and rewards, and others are still in the design and development phase. We plan to add them to the game as soon as they are stable enough not to disrupt your gameplay. Additionally, we plan to provide a lot more content (i.e. puzzle images in different styles) for you to play with. The first official release of the game will aim to cover our initial roadmap while leaving room for future updates and expansions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a stable playable alpha state. Right now you can only play in single-player mode. You will be able to select from between several different puzzle images in HD and pick the tileset you prefer (see the features section for more info). You have available all the controls described in the game guide and you should be able to play through to the completion of the full puzzle. You can also use the inspection lens item to zoom at the puzzle model and look at the tiny details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be priced differently during Early Access since we are not providing the full product to you. After release, the price will change, but it's still too early for us to be more specific than this.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As we mentioned above, we want to evolve Masters of Puzzle in the best possible direction and make it enjoyable for real fans of jigsaw puzzles. Therefore, we will expect constructive feedback and suggestions from our Early Access players. We cannot promise that we will adopt all of them, but we will most definitely listen and try to bring the game as close to our players' liking as possible while still staying true to our core philosophy. Our primary channels for communication will be the community page here as well as our website where we plan to enable user-friendly feedback form for your suggestions and bug reports.”

Masters of Puzzle Roadmap

A couple of weeks ago we promised to share with you our game roadmap - as soon as it was ready for the wider public. We are pleased to announce that we managed to both find a suitable cloud software and to also feed in it the current set of features we are working on. You can access the portal via the link below and keep an eye on the progress as our team moves forward. There is also a section with the currently known major bugs and the progress on their removal. You don't even need a special account to see all of it. And if you want to subscribe to updates or watch specific features' progress, then you can easily create a free account and do so.

A couple of important notes, before you move on, though. First, the public roadmap contains only the features that are in some stage of progress (starting from the review phase) and are of major importance for the game. It will not contain smaller changes, additions, or improvements; for these please keep an eye on the regular release notes. Second, we did not add any features from releases prior to 2018.0.6715. We might do so in the future, but it very much depends on time and priorities, while the idea of the public roadmap is to track the current progress. So, please don't worry if don't see some of the bigger features we've planned for the game there yet. They will appear in time as we progress further along our internal roadmap.

Achievements Now Available

Dear players, we are happy to announce that today's release, tagged 2018.0.6726, is now released and available for you on Steam. What's more, Masters of Puzzle now has its first set of achievements enabled and ready for you to unlock through play. We'll talk about them some more in the section below, but before that let's quickly glance at the other changes this update brought along:
  • Gameplay: Implemented logic and triggers for the achievements in set 1.
  • Gameplay: Adjusted the default font settings and sizes for better readability. This affects all texts throughout the game.
  • Gameplay: Added in-game help text for the puzzle box lifting functionality.
  • Bugfix: Fixed a bug where the game configuration would not auto-update from the game server upon manual player authentication. This should resolve any issues with released DLCs not unlocking in-game for authenticated players.
  • Bugfix: Fixed a bug where the changes to the Options would not save between play sessions.

Achievements
The first set of achievements for Masters of Puzzle includes a total of 42 different items including 4 that are hidden. You can see the list in its usual place in Steam. The new release version also includes retrograde awarding of puzzle completion achievements if the player has unlocked any of them before this update; this mechanism does not include the achievements related to puzzle tile linking or any of the hidden achievements. Please be aware, that the retrograde awarding will only work if you're currently authenticated with the game servers and if you have been authenticated when you completed one of them in the previous versions.

All the achievements currently use a couple of placeholder icons showing a question mark. Be assured that these are only temporary and will be replaced gradually over the next week as our team starts finalizing the designs of the real icons. This will not affect your unlocked achievements or current progress in any way.

What's next?
This week we received the great music compilation from our composer associate and we already started work on incorporating it into the game. In addition to that, we're also working on some new cool game items that will add more character to your playrooms. We'll share more details about all of it in the next update, so stay tuned.

Puzzle Boxes & Downloadable Content

It is important to note from the start that the puzzle boxes for our game are delivered in the form of DLCs. A lot of these will be completely free if you own the base game and you will be able to get them as soon as they are made available. Others, mostly the illustrations provided by our partnering artists, will have to be purchased because artists are people too. We are aware of the controversy of DLCs and the love-hate relationship between them and gamers all over the world. However, there are some good reasons for us to structure the game in such a way.

First, we plan to provide you with new high-quality content on a regular basis. The easiest way to release that content quickly and efficiently is via DLC packages. Second, the UHD quality of our illustrations means that each puzzle box might often be well over 100 Mbs in size. You should not have to download tens of gigabytes of content that you might not currently need to play the game. And last but not least, the diversity of the art we plan to provide will often make certain puzzles click with different people. It is important that the right content for our diverse players can be found easily and quickly.

Remember, you don't have to acquire all of the DLCs for Masters of Puzzle. You only need to get the puzzle boxes you like and want to collect and play with.

Complete 3D Simulation

Forget about flat, boring, 2-dimensional puzzle building. It’s so last century. Instead, let us introduce you to the pleasure of building realistic jigsaw puzzles in a fully simulated, beautiful environment with active physics. Interact with surfaces, items, and the puzzle tiles themselves as if you’re standing in front of (or above) your real-world puzzle table. Use the same approach and habits you’ve always used before – but in a purely virtual scene instead.

Procedurally Generated Puzzles

All of our puzzles are generated procedurally based on a huge number of settings – some of these even adjustable by yourself in the game options. Each puzzle box can be sliced and distributed into one of the available box sizes at the start of each individual game. Furthermore, the form and disposition of the puzzle tiles can be completely changed when you create a new game even if you still use the same image and box size. Replay your favorite puzzles again and again with a fresh challenge every single time.

Complexity & Challenge For Every Taste

Speaking of challenge, our current puzzle box sizes include sets of 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, and 4000 tiles. The game aims to provide suitable configuration for every occasion or skill level – both for beginners and hardcore veterans alike.

Play With Friends Or Strangers (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Single player might be satisfying at times, but building jigsaw puzzles with others is where the real fun begins. We plan to include a fully fledged multiplayer, managed by dedicated virtual servers in the Cloud. Maintain friends lists, chat with others in-game or in the general lobby, create or join multiplayer online games both with people you know or complete strangers by using our matchmaking system. Resume your online game at any time with or without the others being present. Leave messages as sticky notes and discuss strategy even if you’re not all present at the same time.*

Customizable Playroom (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Is realistic simulation not enough for you? Good, because this planned feature will allow you to fully customize your playroom and environment with high-quality materials and custom-crafted vanity objects that you can earn in the game by various means or purchase in our in-game vanity shop, once it's made available. Unwind your imagination and make your playroom as unique as you might want.

Listen to Your Own Music (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Building puzzles in a silent environment might not be fun for everyone. That’s why we plan to provide you with the functionality to play your music of choice while solving your next jigsaw challenge.

Expand Your Puzzle Collection (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

The base game comes with a good selection of free puzzles for you to enjoy. At some point though, you might want to try out new or different images. We plan to provide you on a regular basis with new collections of beautiful puzzles in various styles and painted by different artists. This new content in the form of DLC will adhere to the same replayability rules as the base content.
