What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Masters of Puzzle is a complex game with a rich roadmap still ahead of it. While currently most of the solo features are ready and fully playable, we still have a significant road to cover until we can deliver to you all the planned ways to enjoy the game. In addition, we would like to hear your constructive feedback and suggestions early on, so that we can evolve the game in the right direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Based on our current development pace and experience, we expect to be able to deliver the complete game to you in 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Major features like multiplayer, the in-game shop, contests and leaderboards, achievements and rewards, and others are still in the design and development phase. We plan to add them to the game as soon as they are stable enough not to disrupt your gameplay. Additionally, we plan to provide a lot more content (i.e. puzzle images in different styles) for you to play with. The first official release of the game will aim to cover our initial roadmap while leaving room for future updates and expansions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a stable playable alpha state. Right now you can only play in single-player mode. You will be able to select from between several different puzzle images in HD and pick the tileset you prefer (see the features section for more info). You have available all the controls described in the game guide and you should be able to play through to the completion of the full puzzle. You can also use the inspection lens item to zoom at the puzzle model and look at the tiny details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be priced differently during Early Access since we are not providing the full product to you. After release, the price will change, but it's still too early for us to be more specific than this.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As we mentioned above, we want to evolve Masters of Puzzle in the best possible direction and make it enjoyable for real fans of jigsaw puzzles. Therefore, we will expect constructive feedback and suggestions from our Early Access players. We cannot promise that we will adopt all of them, but we will most definitely listen and try to bring the game as close to our players' liking as possible while still staying true to our core philosophy. Our primary channels for communication will be the community page here as well as our website where we plan to enable user-friendly feedback form for your suggestions and bug reports.”

Release Version 2018.0.6841

This is a small update for Masters of Puzzle that focuses on some improvements to the puzzle tile containers. When starting a new game you will no longer have any containers spawned by default. Instead, there is now a new GUI that will allow you to spawn the containers on demand with a current limit of 2. You will also be able to remove spawned containers from the game board using the corresponding buttons on the container GUI. Any puzzle tiles that were inside a container you removed will be dropped on the game board in a pile. Existing games will not be modified, so when you load a game you will find your containers exactly where you left them.

What's Next
Right now we are working on a tutorial scene that will help new players get familiar faster with the game. The tutorial will use a unique image that will not be available as a standard puzzle box, but more on that on a later update. Along with the tutorial, we are preparing a special surprise for the coming Halloween, so stay tuned for more news in the following weeks.

Known Issues
  • The puzzle model inspections lens can get its parts detached if you move it too fast around the model. This should not prevent you from using it, but if you want to reassemble it simply save and load the current game.
  • If you are loading a very old saved game (especially the Belfast puzzle) the puzzle tiles might "explode" in a shower. This is due to the changed size of the puzzle tiles in the recent builds which causes them to appear in overlapping positions when you load old saved games and thus forcing the physics engine to push them apart. This should happen only the first time you load such a game. Just wait for the tiles to get to rest then save and re-load the game. Any tiles that might have accidentally left the game board will be returned back into the puzzle box.

Release Version 2018.0.6817

The summer holidays are getting to an end and it's finally time for a new release 2018.0.6817 of Masters of Puzzle. There are quite a lot of new features we're introducing with this one and we really hope you're going to like them. As usual, we will be happy to hear your thoughts and impressions about it either here or in the community hub.

Let's take a look at what's new or changed in this release:
  • Gameplay: Added Puzzle Tile Containers to the game. These allow you to sort the puzzle tiles in a convenient way and come with a lot of gameplay functionality. Make sure to check out the help pages for detailed information on how to use them
  • Gameplay: Added full localization in German to the game
  • Gameplay: Added in-game Hints System. Helpful hints will be displayed to the player at appropriate times. The hint system can be disabled completely (recommended only for veteran players) and each hint can also be disabled individually
  • Interface: Applied the new GUI v2.2 to all game interfaces
  • Interface: Added new game mouse cursors. The mouse cursor is now contextual and will change based on the current action attempted by the player
  • Interface: Added new Pause Game Menu that is accessible by pressing the F10 key on your keyboard or by clicking on the new button with a cog icon located on the action bar on the top left
  • Interface: The Save & Exit button has been moved from the action bar to the new pause game menu
You can find the full release notes on our website here.

Puzzle Tile Containers
The major new feature of this release is, of course, the puzzle tile containers. In the future, these will be obtainable in various shapes and colors only from the in-game store, but in Early Access, each player has been granted 2 basic containers for free. Please keep in mind that the containers will not appear in games saved with a previous version of the game. To get them you will need to start a new game.

For each container you have, there will be a horizontal ribbon in the new GUI controls located on the left side of the screen just below the action bar. Each ribbon will display several important things - the container label-modifier, the current number of puzzle tiles in it, the keyboard shortcut for sending puzzle tiles to it, and a button used to empty the container. You can change the label of each container with the label-modifier and most containers will also be able to display their label on their physical object located on the game board.

You can put a puzzle tile inside a container in two ways - you can just drop it inside by using the standard controls for puzzle tile manipulation, or you can throw it in the container by using that container's keyboard shortcut. You can see each container's shortcut key on the corresponding ribbon in the GUI, but it's always a key from 1 to 6, where 1 would be the first container in the list, 2 will be the second, and so on. Using the shortcuts is a much faster way of sorting the puzzle tiles especially at the beginning of the game. Make sure to prepare your containers accordingly by labeling them and moving them to convenient locations on the game board. These two approaches also work, when you have grabbed multiple puzzle tiles in your fist.

When you want to remove puzzle tiles from a container, you can simply pick them up or grab them using the standard controls for puzzle tile manipulation. If you want to empty the entire container on the game board, you need to use the corresponding Empty Container button located on that container's ribbon. When you have activated the button, you will have to click with the Middle Mouse Button anywhere on the game board. This will move all the puzzle tiles from the container to that spot. You can also cancel this operation by clicking the Esc key.

You can also move the puzzle tile containers anywhere on the game board regardless if they are full or empty. To do that, click with the Left Mouse Button anywhere on the container (be careful not to click on a puzzle tile inside it). This will pick the container up and then you can move it around with the mouse. To put it down click with the Left Mouse Button again. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to drop the container if it intersects any other game object, so you will have to select a good empty location. While you're holding a container, you can also rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise.

The full information on working with puzzle tile containers can be found in the game help menu. Additionally, we will be releasing a short guide video in the next few days for your convenience.

Known Issues

  • If you are loading a very old saved game (especially the Belfast puzzle) the puzzle tiles might "explode" in a shower. Any tiles that might have accidentally left the game board will be returned back into the puzzle box.
  • New interface labels in localized languages that have not yet been translated will be displayed in English. This will be resolved once we have received the proper translations for each individual language.

Puzzle Boxes & Downloadable Content

It is important to note from the start that the puzzle boxes for our game are delivered in the form of DLCs. A lot of these will be completely free if you own the base game and you will be able to get them as soon as they are made available. Others, mostly the illustrations provided by our partnering artists, will have to be purchased because artists are people too. We are aware of the controversy of DLCs and the love-hate relationship between them and gamers all over the world. However, there are some good reasons for us to structure the game in such a way.

First, we plan to provide you with new high-quality content on a regular basis. The easiest way to release that content quickly and efficiently is via DLC packages. Second, the UHD quality of our illustrations means that each puzzle box might often be well over 100 Mbs in size. You should not have to download tens of gigabytes of content that you might not currently need to play the game. And last but not least, the diversity of the art we plan to provide will often make certain puzzles click with different people. It is important that the right content for our diverse players can be found easily and quickly.

Remember, you don't have to acquire all of the DLCs for Masters of Puzzle. You only need to get the puzzle boxes you like and want to collect and play with.

About This Game

Do you love jigsaw puzzles? So do we. Regrettably, we are not building as many as we would like to. The reasons are usually simple: not enough personal time to spend on hours-long sessions, not enough space at home to keep a half-finished puzzle around for days, no friends around to help you build when you want to, or some combination of all three.

That’s why we want to give you the ultimate jigsaw puzzle experience with our new game Masters of Puzzle. It’s a full 3D, physics enabled, beautiful simulation that you can enjoy whenever you want with whomever you want. Store your progress on any puzzle and resume at your convenience. Invite friends and loved ones for great multi-player experience or enjoy a solo relaxed session just for you. Keep track of your and your friends' accomplishments, customize your playroom, enter into contests, and do so much more. Our incredible game aims to give you as much flexibility and entertainment as possible.

Now, let’s delve deeper into the main features of Masters of Puzzle and see what makes it a special and different game.

Complete 3D Simulation

Forget about flat, boring, 2-dimensional puzzle building. It’s so last century. Instead, let us introduce you to the pleasure of building realistic jigsaw puzzles in a fully simulated, beautiful environment with active physics. Interact with surfaces, items, and the puzzle tiles themselves as if you’re standing in front of (or above) your real-world puzzle table. Use the same approach and habits you’ve always used before – but in a purely virtual scene instead.

Procedurally Generated Puzzles

All of our puzzles are generated procedurally based on a huge number of settings – some of these even adjustable by yourself in the game options. Each puzzle box can be sliced and distributed into one of the available box sizes at the start of each individual game. Furthermore, the form and disposition of the puzzle tiles can be completely changed when you create a new game even if you still use the same image and box size. Replay your favorite puzzles again and again with a fresh challenge every single time.

Complexity & Challenge For Every Taste

Speaking of challenge, our current puzzle box sizes include sets of 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, and 4000 tiles. The game aims to provide suitable configuration for every occasion or skill level – both for beginners and hardcore veterans alike.

Play With Friends Or Strangers (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Single player might be satisfying at times, but building jigsaw puzzles with others is where the real fun begins. We plan to include a fully fledged multiplayer, managed by dedicated virtual servers in the Cloud. Maintain friends lists, chat with others in-game or in the general lobby, create or join multiplayer online games both with people you know or complete strangers by using our matchmaking system. Resume your online game at any time with or without the others being present. Leave messages as sticky notes and discuss strategy even if you’re not all present at the same time.*

Customizable Playroom (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Is realistic simulation not enough for you? Good, because this planned feature will allow you to fully customize your playroom and environment with high-quality materials and custom-crafted vanity objects that you can earn in the game by various means or purchase in our in-game vanity shop, once it's made available. Unwind your imagination and make your playroom as unique as you might want.

Listen to Your Own Music (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

Building puzzles in a silent environment might not be fun for everyone. That’s why we plan to provide you with the functionality to play your music of choice while solving your next jigsaw challenge.

Expand Your Puzzle Collection (Currently Unavailable in Early Access)

The base game comes with a good selection of free puzzles for you to enjoy. At some point though, you might want to try out new or different images. We plan to provide you on a regular basis with new collections of beautiful puzzles in various styles and painted by different artists. This new content in the form of DLC will adhere to the same replayability rules as the base content.

And Much More…

These are just the main features either available or planned for Masters of Puzzle, but there are also many others that you will find once you start playing. Additionally, we have plans to expand the game with regular updates and new features as we move forward. Contact us and share what else you’d like to see in the game.

* Note: Multiplayer and all online services will require an active Internet connection as well as an active player account in our systems. However, you can still play solo without access to the Internet.
