Why Early Access?

“We decided to launch in Early Access because, for one thing, we want to give our fans a chance to play our game before we finish adding all of the additional things we envisioned to include in the final version. Additional time will also allow us to put more effort into implementation of new mechanics and it will give us an opportunity to add some modding features that we would love our game to have. We want this game to live and grow long after the initial release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect that Early Access phase will take approximately one year. We hope that it is enough time to polish the game and make it a high quality sandbox. However the game in its current state already offers loads of functionalities and long playtime.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the final version we want to add:
- More iconic locations that are familiar to every Mars Exploration enthusiast
- More functional buildings
- More vehicles and robots
- More entries in the knowledge base
- More mining sites and resources
- More interactive colonists
- Additional game modes
- More features based on player's feedback

We also want to add a 3D model importer which will turn the game into real moddable sandbox - a game that will grow based on the players feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access release will feature a detailed single-player campaign. Additional game modes will come to the game later in the form of updates. We've decided to focus on polishing core functionalities first to make sure they are thoroughly tested. Because of that decision, some of the features that were mentioned in the DevLogs might be added after the initial release. That being said we feel like this Early Access will be a more-or-less complete experience, a game you can play and finish - with great room for expanding.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Although we are not currently sure about the final price of our game, most likely the early access version will cost less than the final product, in a similar way like other space sandbox games which were initially released in Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players will be able to express their ideas, opinions and suggestions for the game in the Steam community forum, as well as our Discord channel. We can't wait to hear community feedback!”

Occupy Mars is a highly technical, open-world sandbox game about Mars colonization inspired by the most promising technologies and companies that are working toward becoming a multi-planet species. Build and upgrade your base, discover new amazing regions, conduct mining operations, retrieve water, generate oxygen, grow crops, fix broken parts, and learn how to survive on Mars!

Have you ever dreamt about visiting Mars? We always do! There are so many things to see and discover on the red planet, so many exciting technologies to be created, and so many challenges to overcome! If humanity can do this, we can become a multi-planet civilization!

Build and upgrade your base. Make sure that there is enough water, oxygen, power, and food to survive.

Build greenhouses, oxygen tanks, fuel generators, connect all the pipes and cables, and remember about proper cable management. Grow your own food.

Fix broken parts using realistic electronic components and tools. Learn the basics soldering, using hot air, electronic measurement tools, and all the details necessary to fix your equipment.

Explore different regions of Mars while searching for valuable resources, discover mining sites, and find the best place to build a city.

Remember that you need to find a relatively leveled area with good access to underground water in a place where temperatures don't drop too much during the night.

Experience an open-world sandbox game with a realistic day/night cycle and overcome real challenges that colonists face. Build solar arrays and batteries for energy storage, upgrade them, and find the optimal way to power your colony.

Upgrade your vehicles and equipment in your garage. Organize your workshop and modify your rover. Change crane hydraulics, operate the robotic arm, dig for valuable resources, build mining rigs, and more...

Occupying Mars is not always easy. Sometimes things will explode, break or not go exactly as planned. Learn to cope with "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.” Sometimes you have to really act quickly before you run out of air, food, or energy.
