What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Ring of Elysium is a multiplayer online battle royale shooter. We need more feedback to create a better polished game. With players joining the game earlier, we can understand our players better and adjust the final version accordingly.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will last for approximately 3 - 6 months, depending on the development schedule.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version will provide a refined battle royale mode, polished features, and fine-tuned gameplay balance. We will also implement new features including player progression systems, and several casual game modes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build provides one battle royale mode on a snow mountain map. Mode rules and gameplay features are full and operational. Basic systems are fully-featured, including matchmaking, friends, cosmetic item collection and more. Server operation and client stability are in great shape. This build has gone through a closed-beta period with several thousands of participants and overall user experience was proven to be very good.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be permanently free, during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will monitor feedback from the community on a daily basis and reply promptly. Players are welcomed to send ideas and suggestions directly to our email We will read them intently and implement good ones in our game.”

Early Access Patch Notes - 3.16.2019

Dear players,

Welcome to the latest official patch notes for Ring of Elysium’s Early Access phase. Here are the full details:

Ring of Elysium’s live servers will go down for maintenance for approximately two hours at:
March 16th, 0:00-2:00 PDT, 7:00-9:00 UTC/GMT

  • Increased the speed of all climbing and vaulting actions
  • Added "Free-flow vaulting" (being able to vault/climb mid-air). By holding the Climb/Vault keybind (default keybind is "spacebar"), characters will automatically climb/vault over obstacles mid-air when applicable

Throwable items
  • Add a new throwable item: Flashbang. When the flashbang explodes, it will cause a brief blinding effect and a ringing sound effect to nearby targets, a great way to initiate an attack on your opponents!
  • The two inventory item slots for throwables are no longer fixed as grenade and smoke grenades, players can now mouse-drag and equip different throwable items onto the throwable item slots. The default keybind for swapping out throwable items is "5"
  • After taking out a throwable, the default left-mouse-button is used to throw the throwable equipped on the left slot, and the default right-mouse-button is used to throw the throwable equipped on the right slot

Weapon Inspection
  • Added the "Inspect Weapon" option in game settings
  • Under TPP/FPP perspective, use the Inspect Weapon keybind (the default keybind is “O”) to inspect weapons under FPP perspective. Once the inspection animation is complete, the camera will automatically return to the normal state. If the character moves during the inspection, the inspecting animation will be canceled

Weapon skin application
  • Now, when a player has an equipped weapon skin and picks up that weapon (with the default skin), the weapon skin will automatically apply onto the weapon and maintain the appearance during the entire game round, even if it is dropped on the ground or picked up by other players

  • Fixed an issue where changing the "Sharpen" option did not work properly
  • After the previous patch with the introduction of the Sharpen settings, a small number of users was affected by this bug and were not able to properly take use of this setting. After getting feedback from the enthusiastic players, our devs were able to quickly locate the root cause of the issue and fixed this bug. We are very grateful to the players who found and gave feedback on this bug, thank you so much for assisting us in finding these issues!

  • Optimized the engine sound of the sports car and police car

Visual performance
  • Optimized some of the buildings' texture on Europa Island
  • Optimized the animation for the characters' left hand when holding a weapon equipped with grip attachments

Developer Face-to-face (3.15.2019)

Hello everyone!

Since the release of the previous issue's "Developer Face-to-face," we have been gradually releasing the contents we brought up, such as Gunplay improvements, Anti-aliasing improvements, the Weapon Skin system, the AK-15, weapon balance changes, traversal equipment balance changes, the Thailand Invitational, and more! We have also received lots of great feedback and suggestions during this time, and we're going through all of them carefully! As usual, we will keep actively communicating with you guys, be as transparent as we can, and make the game better with your help!

Many of you have expressed your thoughts about the direction of ROE in the future, well, we have a lot of awesome stuff coming, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Let’s jump into it!

I. Optimization
As mentioned in the previous announcement, we are fully committed to the development of DX12 related upgrades and the 64-bit client. The former is expected to bring an overall improvement in game performance, while the latter can solve the client crashes caused by insufficient memory. Now, our devs have already achieved some initial results, and the 64-bit client should be released very soon. With the 64-bit client, some common client issues will be fundamentally solved, effectively improving your game experience. We will be posting announcements to walk through the details about the 64-bit client later through our official platforms.

Also, the DX12 related development is still in progress. Unfortunately, we don't have too much to reveal this time around, but we will communicate with you as soon as we can.

II. Adventurer Season 3
The Adventurer Season 2 is ending in just two weeks! Last time, we announced the concept design art for one of the new Adventurer Character in S3, which led to a lot of discussions within the community. However, other than the "Space Captain," there will be two more characters that are young in age. On top of that, we will be making some exciting changes in terms of combat in season 3! Stay tuned, people!

III. About the new "Sharpen" setting
At present, the sharpen setting has been added and experienced by the majority of players, and we want to give you some additional info on it:

We added this setting because we want to make sure that each player can have the ability to adjust the graphics to their own preferences. The default setting of sharpen is “Low”, that is also our recommended option out of the three sharpening levels. In general, each person perceives sharpening in a very different way, so for some players, the graphic clarity of “Low” sharpening might not be as satisfying to their eyes compared to the other two options, but using “Low” sharpening is less likely to cause eye strain, and the overall graphic smoothness will be better.

For players that want to add more clarity to the graphics, we suggest using the “Standard” or “High” sharpening option. Since we are not using the TAA technology for “Low” Anti-aliasing, the graphics do not need extra sharpening, so the sharpen option will not be available for it.

TAA Anti-aliasing is currently the best Anti-aliasing technology for ROE in terms of overall effects and efficiency, it can solve flickering and jagged edges relatively well, and it has an extremely low graphics card usage. It is also common practice in the industry to use post-processing effects such as sharpening to add clarity to the graphics when using TAA. Therefore, we decided to provide multiple sharpening settings for you guys. Hopefully, everyone can try it out and select the best looking sharpening option that suits you the best!

IV. More new weapons!
We expect to release two new weapons this month: the FN FAL and the M82A1!

Every weapon released in ROE has been thoughtfully planned to balance the meta. We released the AK-15 with the intention to bring back 7.62mm weapons to the battlefront. After it's release, we observed our data and checked the current weapon usage rates, AK-15 is ranking first with a 14% usage rate, while the M4A1 is chasing right behind with a 13% usage rate, the usage rate of all 7.62mm weapons have also jumped from 26% to 35%! We are delighted to see this change because it proves that the release of AK-15 really broadened the spectrum for players when it comes to weapon selection.

We have similar intentions for the two DMRs we are planning to release this month, but the purpose is not exactly the same. We hope that by releasing new DMRs, players who like or are proficient in these weapons will have more and better choices (rather than having to choose other powerful weapons) for long-distance engagements, thus, making the battlefield more intense and more diverse.

We can't wait to see what changes the FN FAL and the M82A1 will bring to the meta, and we hope you're looking forward to it as well!

V. New throwable item- Flashbang!
In the early days of designing ROE, we wanted to get more players to try out tactical competitive shooting games and experience the excitement and fun it brings, even if they're not familiar with the genre. Therefore, we selectively streamlined some systems so that players can get started quickly. But since ROE has been out for a while, we believe that we can start adding more complex designs to enhance and enrich the gameplay. Therefore, we will be adding a new member to the "throwable family tree" - Flashbang, bringing more diverse and interesting changes to combat. What we can say for sure is that we will continuously optimize the throwable item system, and add more throwable items in the future, let us know your ideas and suggestions!

VI. Vaulting improvements
To be honest, we have been receiving lots of complaints about vaulting, so we will be improving the overall design of vaulting in this weekend's update. We will significantly increase the speed of vaulting, and add a new mechanic: Free-flow vaulting (being able to vault mid-air)! We hope you guys can make some awesome tactical movement with this new design, looking forward to seeing your sick plays!

VII. Weapon Skin system update
The launch of the Weapon Skin system was a very important step in terms of character customization for ROE. In the next update, we will be adding the function to apply a skin onto a weapon, and giving that weapon to your teammate. So if you have a weapon skin that you really want but haven't unlocked, or want to try it out first, invite a friend who owns that skin and play a game together!

Also, we also plan to open a new event this week. During the event period, players can receive a 14-day-free-trial version of the LVOA-C “Sweetheart” skin for FREE when you log-in to the game!
Once you accumulate a certain amount of points by logging in daily or complete the daily missions, you will be able to unlock the permanent version of the skin! Please note that once the event ends, this skin will be permanently discontinued from distribution. If you're into kawaii skins, do not miss this opportunity!

VIII. New items in Store
For this weekend, we also plan to release Gavin's special S2 character style to the Store; the regular price will be 2100 E-points. But there will be a 30% discount for the skin for the first three days after it hits the shelf (March 16-18, Pacific Time), after March 18, the price will go back to 2100 E-points.

We will also be releasing some new vehicle appearances and accessories to the Store, including: Pickup truck- Shark (500 E-Points), Rudder (500 E-points), Anchor (500 E-points), Blue surfboard (200 E-points) and Red Surfboard (200 E-points).

In addition, we have also added the Name-change card to the Store! For those who have been wanting to change to a better name, you can now spend 500 E-points to purchase a name-change card. Of course, in order for the name-change to work, your new name cannot be an existing one.

IX. Cheaters
Recently, some players have been expressing that they have been encountering more cheaters. As you know, we have zero tolerance against cheaters, and we have been continuously banning accounts and blacklisting their PC to maintain a fair and healthy game environment.
The war against cheaters is a long one. We need to do lots of rigorous analysis of the data to ensure that each security measure can operate properly. Meanwhile, we suggest everyone to continue to report suspicious players when you encounter them in-game, we will work on more improvements to the Anti-Cheat system, and increase our investigation efforts, thank you for your understanding.

Alright! That sums up this issue's Developer Face-to-face post. For more details, please keep an eye out on our various official platforms for our follow-up announcements.

For the content we have shared with you today, please don't hesitate to leave a comment below to express your feelings and ideas! We will continue to pay close attention to your feedback as always.

Thanks and see you in game,
