What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Penkura is a large sci-fi base-building survival game developed by a duo. Early Access allows us to continue expanding the game with player feedback while improving tutorials, balance, progression, content, and polish.

The core systems and technical foundation of Penkura are now in place. Base construction, resource production, crafting, first-person exploration, bot control, and programmable bot commands are already part of the public build.

Because the main code foundation is established, our development can now focus more strongly on expanding content, improving tutorials, adding more enemies and bot variety, building out the story, refining balance, and polishing the overall player experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We do not want to promise a final release date before we are confident we can meet it.

Penkura will remain in Early Access while we expand explorable areas, improve tutorials, add more enemies and bot variety, continue developing the story, improve balance, and polish the overall experience. When the game is closer to its full release state, we will share a clearer roadmap toward version 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include more explorable areas, more story content, more enemies, more bot variety, more base-building content, improved tutorials, better balance, and a more complete progression from early survival to advanced base operation.

Co-op is still part of the long-term plan, but our current priority is to make the single-player foundation stronger, clearer, and more complete.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current public build already includes the main foundation of Penkura: base construction, resource production, crafting, first-person exploration, bot control, programmable bot commands, objectives, hostile creatures, survival systems, and story elements.

A typical player can currently expect around 20 to 25 hours of gameplay, while players who enjoy building, experimenting with systems, and automating their base may spend much longer.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase as the amount of content and polish grows. Any future price changes will be communicated before they happen.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is very important to us, especially for tutorials, balance, bot commands, base-building flow, survival progression, and performance.

To make this easier, Penkura includes an in-game feedback and bug report system. Reports sent through the game are delivered directly to our internal communication system, allowing us to see player issues much faster and respond to the most important problems more efficiently.

Players can also share feedback through the Steam forums, the Penkura Discord channel, or by contacting us through the LionsArt website.”
