What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“TaleSpire has already benefited hugely from the feedback of the community, and this is something we seek to continue. While we have a strong vision for where we want to take the game, we want to keep this dialog going so we can continue to make something that is honed to the needs of real players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We foresee the game being in Early Access for up to a year after the initial version release. This will give us ample time to deliver on our roadmap from the Kickstarter as well as giving time for player feedback to shape the game throughout the early access period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will contain the base set of features we envision for TaleSpire. Between the Early-Access release and the full release, we aim to fill in the Medieval-Fantasy collection of content as well as work with the community to finalize stretch-goals and some other features to deepen the roleplaying experience.

Development of TaleSpire will continue past the full release, but it will mark what we consider a complete set of features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version allows players to collaboratively build their worlds, taking command of atmosphere, music, and time of day. They can take on the mantle of multiple heroes and creatures, managing their basic stats and expressing themselves through the growing emote system.

GMs have control over cutscene mode, and the initiative tracker, which allows them to keep order during encounters. They also have access to a specialized mode that allows them to manage things unseen by player's eyes.

All this takes place in persistent online boards, which can be created at a moment's notice. Everything is created and synchronized in real-time as you battle and dice-roll your way to glory.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The plan is to keep the price the same both during and beyond the Early Access period.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There are many avenues for feedback with TaleSpire. On our Discord, we have places to give feedback on the game, a channel for feature requests and suggestions, and channels for sharing content made within the game. We have a public bug-tracker where people can report issues they find and get direct feedback as we fix the problem.

There are also indirect ways that people can be involved. Just by people streaming the game, we have been able to get great insights into how people are playing, and this has guided the development of many current and ongoing features.

TaleSpire will be evolving a lot, and we would love to know where the community wants to take it.”

About This Game

TaleSpire is a beautiful way to play pen and paper RPGs online.

Marrying the beauty and physicality of miniatures with the expanse of digital worlds, TaleSpire is a place where building and play happen throughout the whole play session.

Want to destroy a wall to reveal a secret passage? Do it! Want to rain down piles of gold from the heavens? Sure! At any moment the GM (or multiple GMs) can jump into building mode and change the world without interrupting anything else.

TaleSpire is not tied to a specific game or ruleset so whether it's a tiny one shot to a sprawling campaign, if it's on a square grid then the chances are we have your back.
