Hotfix Patch 1.0.1 is now LIVE!

Hello, Monarchs!

We are pleased to announce that Hotfix Patch 1.0.1 is now LIVE! Please be aware that we know there are still issues that have not been addressed in this patch. We wanted to fix as many critical issues as possible prior to the holiday season, when things will start moving a bit slower. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve your Kingdom experience. We would also like to thank everyone who has been submitting bug reports and sending in suggestions for what they would like to see in Kingdom Two Crowns.

Hotfix Patch Notes:

Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where an infinite loading screen could occur if the connection failed when attempting to join a Steam friend
  • Fixed an issue involving the Stables and multiplayer games (aka Steed Save Corruption) - this will also patch affected save data, so you shouldn't need to restart your campaign
  • Added a fix for corrupted, almost empty save data, that was sometimes caused by having a connection attempt fail with very particular timing
  • Fixed an issue that caused pikemen to fish double money when in an online game
  • Fixed an issue that caused the bow and hammer shops to be unusable by the client, if they joined after the scythe shop had been placed
  • Fixed that hermits would wander outside of the kingdom, searching for a place to stand, to their eventual demise
  • Fixed that workers would also wander outside of the walls during greed attacks
  • Fixed an unlock requirement for the 'There is No Greater Ruler Than Thou' achievement
  • Fixed an issue where swapping steeds spawned by the Stables repeatedly in an online game could cause ridden steeds to move independently
  • Fixed an issue with having hermits as passengers when a remote client pays to embark on the boat

Balance:
  • Buffed the ninja, and reduced the hire cost
  • Reduced a few steeds' ride costs (Bear, Stamina Horse, Unicorn/Kirin, Lizard and Warhorse)

Features:
  • Added a way for players to manually dismount their hermit passengers (flip back and forth rapidly to expel unwanted hermits)
  • Updated the credits

We are still working hard on fixing critical issues like:
  • Knights not attacking portals if player arrived in an intact boat
  • Blacksmith/Catapult shop not appearing
  • Items rotating when purchased by clients
  • Difficulty to find co-op controls
  • Bread from the bakery disappearing

Please note that you will need to start a new campaign for the game to properly generate the balance changes into your Kingdom. In order to do that follow these steps:
  • Allow your current game to load
  • Open the menu
  • Select "Campaign"
  • Select a blank campaign save
  • Enjoy the changes!

Once again, we would like to say thank you to all the monarchs who have helped us track and identify these bugs. We will continue to work diligently on Kingdom Two Crowns and the big 2019 QoL patch. Happy Holidays!

Updates Incoming in QoL Update #1

X-post from the Community Forums; to participate in the original discussion, see the original thread here.

Hi Monarchs!

We wanted to share some of the things we collected from your feedback so far that we will try our best to get in the first big update. This is planned to release early next year (2019). Even if some don't make the first Update we will get them in at some point. We have two big free content updates planned for 2019 and one more big QoL in 2019.

From your feedback
  • Improve Winter experience
  • Improve Hermit behavior
  • Improve Ninja's value
  • Make switching Steeds less costly
  • Increase Pikemen health i.e. how many successful attacks they can perform before spear breaks)
  • Add a way to recover lost gems
  • Improve initiating Coop splitscreen experience
  • Improve outer wall units shop location i.e. shops move outward with expansion of walls.

We will continue to add to this list, once we've reached our bandwidth we'll add more to the next big update.

Already in Planning and very likely to make it into the QoL #01 Update
  • Introduce the Challenge Islands
  • Add SteamOS (Linux) Support
  • Add Original Ruler DLC for all owners of Kingdom: Classic and Kingdom: New Lands
  • Fix Knights/Samurai going on the boat instead of attacking the portal.

FYI - critical issues like corrupted saves will be treated as high priority and planned to be patched as quickly as possible.

About This Game

n the award-winning Kingdom series, players took on the role of a monarch struggling to build their kingdom up from nothing. Hundreds of thousands of players across the world explored, recruited loyal subjects, and defended nightly against the persistent threat of the Greed – but they did so in isolation, and as with all things in Kingdom, nothing lasts… until now.

Kingdom Two Crowns builds upon the challenging micro strategy experience with an evolution of the celebrated franchise. Introducing the brand-new campaign mode, monarchs must now work to build a kingdom that stands over time until finding a way to defeat the Greed for good. Recruit new unit types and develop advanced technologies to bolster your defenses. Explore fresh environments to discover new mounts and secrets hidden in the deep. Revisit and revitalize your kingdom in its entirety as you move onward through the campaign.

But you don’t have to rule alone! Introducing a cooperative play experience that is totally unique to Kingdom Two Crowns, monarchs can now choose between a classic solo experience or seek the assistance of a friend, working together locally or online, dropping in or out at will.

A challenge awaits all who seek it here, whether you are a first-time ruler or a longtime fan. So be brave, great monarchs, for in the end Two Crowns shall reign stronger than one!

Kingdom Two Crowns will be expanded with post-release updates that will venture to exotic biomes across the world. On day 1 of release, players can journey to lands inspired by the landscape, architecture, and culture of feudal Japan. Play as the mighty Shogun or Onna-bugeisha, enlist the support of the ninja, lead your soldiers to battle atop the mythological Kirin, and form new strategies as you brave the Greed hiding in the thick bamboo forests.

We will continue to keep the feeling of exploration, discovery, and strategy alive in Kingdom Two Crowns with many more themed biomes, each with unique styles and features that marvel the eye while changing how you rule the lands.

👑 BRAND-NEW CAMPAIGN MODE: Built upon the classic micro strategy that made Kingdom successful, monarchs can now build lasting kingdoms in a multi-stage campaign to stop the assault of the Greed for good.

👑 TWO CROWNS TO RULE THEM ALL: The struggle to build your kingdom need not be ventured alone! Strategize and defend your realm together in local or online drop-in/drop out co-op.

👑 NEW FEATURES, NEW STRATEGIES: A wealth of new features from technology upgrades to unit types to secrets to enemies, monarchs will need to plan wisely to see their kingdom flourish.
