In late 2020, development of standalone Territory Control 2 started - along with a custom engine built from scratch, written in C# and C. After few months of steady development, it became available as a Patreon reward for players from the original community.

During this phase, the game's development has progressed quickly - many new features were added and refined based on testing feedback, eventually including various tools for custom content creation, such as maps and mods.”
