About Europe In Ruins

Europe In Ruins is an award-winning persistent warfare mod for Company of Heroes that puts you in command of your own company as you take it from fresh recruits to battle-hardened veterans. Set during the period of Operation OVERLORD (beginning 06 June 1944), Europe In Ruins combines persistent cross-battle progression, doctrine-based company customization, and an ongoing multiplayer campaign where every battle matters.

Choose your doctrine, build your company unit-by-unit, and customize your force from a wide variety of units, weapons, and upgrades beyond the standard Company of Heroes arsenal, including an entirely new Soviet faction. Europe In Ruins can be played in both multiplayer and co-op/AI modes.

Surviving units gain veterancy, losses are permanent, and every battle leaves its mark on the company you lead into the next fight. Over time, your company becomes a reflection of your victories, your defeats, and the troops who survive to fight on. Each battle also affects the persistent Warmap campaign as Axis and Allied forces struggle for control of Europe.

About This Game

Europe In Ruins features:

Persistent Companies, Persistent Campaign

Every battle counts. Units that survive gain experience and veterancy across battles, while units that are killed are lost forever. That means every battle, every victory, and every defeat has lasting consequences for the company you lead into the next fight.

Your battles also contribute to an ongoing multiplayer Warmap campaign for control of Europe. The Allies have landed in Normandy and fight to push deeper into the continent, while the Axis struggle to hold the line. In Europe In Ruins, every engagement matters beyond a single match.

A Unique Gameplay Experience

Europe In Ruins transforms Company of Heroes into a more persistent and tactical style of warfare. Instead of building a base and advancing through a traditional tech tree each match, you build your company before battle and call your forces into combat using pre-arranged unit call-ins.

Territory is no longer captured through static flags, but by driving the enemy out and holding control of the sector. More territory means a higher Population cap and a greater ability to reinforce your presence on the field.

The result is a very different kind of Company of Heroes experience, built around strategy, attrition, battlefield control, and force preservation.

Multiplayer, Single-Player, and Co-op Gameplay

Europe In Ruins can be played in both multiplayer and co-op/AI modes. Whether you want a competitive PvP match, a co-op game with friends against the AI, or a single-player experience, EIR supports multiple ways to play.

An All-New Soviet Faction

Take the fight against the Axis to the Eastern Front. Europe In Ruins expands beyond the original four factions of Company of Heroes with an entirely new Soviet faction, complete with three doctrine trees, unique units, and new abilities. Thanks to our friends over at the Eastern Front mod!

Doctrine-Based Company Customization

Choose your doctrine and shape your company around your style of warfare. Build your force unit-by-unit from a wide variety of infantry, vehicles, weapons, upgrades, and faction-specific options.

Every company develops differently based on doctrine choices, unit selection, and battlefield losses, giving each force its own strengths, weaknesses, and identity over time.

Reward Units

Europe In Ruins also includes reward units: rare historical units that can be earned and collected through reward cards. These cards unlock special units that can be added to your company, used in battle, or traded with other players.

Reward units offer another layer of progression and collection, giving players new ways to personalize their companies and pursue unique additions beyond the standard roster.

Quality of Life Improvements

Europe In Ruins includes major quality-of-life improvements over standard Company of Heroes, including improved squad AI, improved vehicle pathing, an extended-zoom camera, and improved unit ability hotkeys.
