What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Stars End is the game in the MMO survival genre, which is next to impossible to complete without at least a Year long Early Access run. As our studio grows and expands into the new genres we felt that Early Access was the best way to launch Stars End.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to stay in Early Access for at least 1 year, with full release aimed for early to late 2020.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The quick way to describe it is - "More of Everything". More Weapons, More Ships, More Buildings. In addition we are considering adding a number of new features as well, that we`ll discuss and design together with our players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This is the most confident Early Access release our studio has ever done, with the vast majority of gameplay mechanics already present. Entire Stars End system is accessible. Some features have not been implemented into the game yet, but these features were not advertised, and we plan to continue working on them together with our players over the Early Access period. For a list of implemented features please refer to the About this Title section. The selection of craftable materials, weapons, alien bugs and vehicles would greatly increase during the Early Access period. And finally - as it is expected with the launch of this magnitude - networking, and performance would need a bit of time to realize their full potential.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price through the early access - as more and more features are added and the game is nearing the completion price point.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“It`s our teams history to work with our players. We strive to do everything in our power to open up the development and commit to bi-weekly updates. We plan to talk with our players directly in-game, and read and reply to almost every forum suggestion and reports. Players will be asked to vote on features proposed by other players, and our team will do our best to add most desired ideas, and features in-game.”

Stars End: Private Beta Update 0.598

Hotfix v0.598

-An issue with opening Wood Containers and Loot Terminals is resolved

Update v0.597

The database has not been wiped, but container and global loot data has been wiped due to new systems being added.

-Base components are now able to store items within the component, allowing for greater flexibility with storage containers and a chance to fix some network performance issues.

-StorageContainer item removed and replaced with WoodContainer
-Global Loot terminals backend removed and updated to use the new base containers
-Death Loot containers now work the same way as a placed world item (eg campfire and sleeping bag) using the same system and expire after 30 mins, or unless container is emptied. Player name variable added into placed world items so we can show the waypoint on the death loot container.
-Death loot container waypoint radius is 10km, its tricky to expand this one further, but shouldnt be an issue if the player respawns in the same region in order to get their gear.

(With recent container changes, very soon we'll be able to use the same tech to make vehicles able to be stored permanently on land claims, plus giving vehicles full containers!)

-Issue with BowDrill item is resolved, dropping it no longer causes an error
-Block art cylinders removed on Rifles
-Issue resolved with AI killing a player several times over. Will now only happen once!

Stars End: Private Beta Update 0.596

Update v0.596

The database has not been wiped.

- Adjusted some grass meshes.
- Enabled LOD fading for some grass in BetaPrairie.
- Updated SE Vegetation shader with better wind and instanced properties.
- Efficiently set random color variations to each grass patch.

- Added a button to reset all user settings (if you dont see any grass on beta prairie, try and reset your user settings!)
- Small layout adjustments to settings menu.
- Added setting to enable or disable mirrors realtime reflections.
- Fixed an instance where a wrong animation name was specified.

- Implemented voices for new Mech AI over the network.
- Some volume adjustments for Mech footsteps, weapon, bullet impacts.
Some Mech bugfixes.
- Fixed issue that would sometimes cause the Mech to slide in a different direction than its target position, making it unable to move correctly. Fixed by setting the RigidBody to Kinematic. NavMeshAgent doesn't need the influence of RigidBody velocities.
- Adjusted sound effect and voice clips volumes.
- Improved a bit fire sound by alternating clip playback between two audioSources instead of just one.
- Added queue system so the Mech will always wait to when it finishes shooting to play voice clips.
- In the rare case where the Mech doesn't have any destination to go, force it to go to its patrolling area again. It would remain in stand by otherwise.
- Improved Mech movement and rotation interpolation.
- Animation state is received when a player approaches a Mech.

- Adjusted rotation speed for rovers and QuadBike.
- IK adjustments and fixes on player (still need to sort out some obscure movements that are caused occasionally!)
- IK backend updated to latest version, plus some legacy stuff removed.
- Waypoint adjustments on claims
- Craft time reduced on several items, as per player request.

About This Game

Stars End is a multiplayer sci-fi survival game set hundreds of years in the future, in a star system colonized by humans escaping their dying home world.

Start with basic supplies and find a way into space - without any loading screens! Players will have the opportunity to travel the system to seek out resources, completing missions and uncovering mysteries - while building strongholds in space and planetside, continually facing the danger of other players.

Utilising procedural planets, the game world is vast - but it's not so large that you won’t be able to play with your friends.

The biggest feature of Stars End is planetary warfare and territory control, with hundreds of players populating each server. Be it FPS fighting across planets and space stations, or dog fighting in open space - Stars End brings system wide combat to the genre.

Make sure you keep your ship locked and your items stored safely in a container somewhere far away!
