What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We've been working on Beat Saber since 2016 and even though we had a plan to release the game only after everything will be 120% ready, we got so much positive feedback from the VR community so we decided to release the game earlier – on May 1st, 2018.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our previous plan was to move Beat Saber from Early Access to a Full Game before the end of 2018. Since we faced several challenges while working on the game; the development took us much longer than we expected and we still have some plans with the game before we move it from Early Access. Although, we feel like we're getting closer!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game is very close to our idea of a Full Game. In the past months, we've been tweaking scoring system (which is a super important part of Beat Saber), we added more content (several free tracks and OST 2 – now we're working on OST 3), we polished the UI, added Campaign mode and we also worked substantially on the visual aspect of the game. We believe, we’ve greatly improved Beat Saber since the release, even though our dev team is very small.

We promised a level editor and custom songs to be available in the game and we're still figuring out how to implement them. We definitely didn't forget about that! And of course, we plan on adding more music content regularly.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version has all of the mechanics for an "arcade mode" ready and everything is working nicely. For the future, we plan to regularly add more music and implement more features, which will be relevant for the game and fun to play. We're confident that Beat Saber can move from Early Access to a Full Game soon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price because we believe Beat Saber is worth it. Our small dev team (only 3 developers working on the base game) put so much effort into the game and we've been improving and polishing it since the first day of the release. We will make sure all players will know ahead of time when the price changes and will still have a chance to get the game for the Early Access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We listen to the community closely and we appreciate your feedback. In the future, we would like to be even closer to the community. Please, keep sharing your thoughts and feedback with us – it's super important for the future of the game. Although, it's fair to say that not every time we're able to implement solutions from the community; due to legal issues or just the fact that the solution isn't perfect. We're always trying to find the best way to make it happen. Our community is a great source of inspiration and we appreciate your effort and time you all put into the game. You are such an important part of Beat Saber. Thank you for being with us!”
