What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have been working on Beat Saber since 2016 and even though we had a plan to release the game only after everything will be 120% ready we got so much positive feedback for our current version that we decided to release the game earlier :)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We would like to move from Early Access before the end of the year 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version we would like to add a solid single player mode with missions or challenges and we think there is room for other interesting modes too. From the beginning we thought that it would be nice to have a way for players to play their custom levels/songs Therefore we would like to provide a "level editor" in the future. Last but not least, we would like to add more content (songs).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Current version has all mechanics for an "arcade mode" ready and everything is working nicely. Early Access version will provide enough songs/levels for a casual gameplay and it should also be sufficient for any competitive player to try to improve in the game to fight for a spot in the high score table.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may raise the price after adding significant content update/feature.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“All community feedback is dear to us and it will play an integral part in the development process. Community is welcomed to contribute by engaging in a discussion with us, for example by commenting on difficulty of levels, reporting issues or even help with creating new content. Also feel free to send us any suggestions you would like to see in the future version of the game.”

Beat Saber v0.11.1 Released

This minor update of Beat Saber adds Angel Voices by Virtual Self as a new track into the game and it is now available by default from the start. No need to "unlock" it by finding an Easter egg anymore.

Additionally we also fixed incorrect BPM for $100 Bills level in One Saber mode which made it look like it ended in the middle of the level.

PS.: If you were running mods and are now having issues we would like to inform you that all currently available mods are not official (not made by us) so we can't really help you when they stop working and we can't provide much support. It is because every mod right now is more like a hack to the game because Beat Saber never provided a way to be properly moddable like you may know from other games. Please contact authors of your mods to provide the support and please wait until they update them for the current version. We will also try to help with this as much as possible.

Thank you.

About This Game

Beat Saber is a unique VR rhythm game where your goal is to slash the beats (represented by small cubes) as they are coming at you. Every beat indicates which saber you need to use and also the direction you need to match. All the music is composed to perfectly fit the hand made levels. Our goal is to make players almost dance while cutting the cubes and avoiding obstacles. Each cut is strongly supported by great sound and visual effects to emphasize the rhythm.

Features

  • Unique gameplay with a great feel - Beat Saber combines the satisfying feeling of cutting with emergent perception of rhythm.
  • Handcrafted levels & music - All the basic levels and music in the game will be handcrafted to emphasise the music rhythm. The results are incomparable to similar games with generated content.
  • Game accessibility - Anyone can understand basic game principles and play the game in just a few seconds.
