New release date and stuff

Dear subscribers, watching the development of the "Crown"!

We realized once again that we don’t have enough time to finish the game by the scheduled date (we postponed the release for March the last time). Fortunately, our enthusiasm has not gone anywhere, but, on the contrary, has only intensified, and thanks to our subscribers and patrons, we are increasingly devoting more time to working on the "Crown".
Characters are becoming more detailed and elaborated, the game world is developing, new concepts and secrets are being added, and the plot is branching in the most unexpected ways even for us. Sometimes we have to rewrite the dialogues, and the part of the plot, which was finishes some months ago, disappears, and we are thrown back for a few steps. But now we understand more what we are doing and what is the exact story we write, so the end of the first chapter is just around the corner. Not in March, of course. But not in ten years.

Of course, we could accelerate, and finish the game "as is", to make a re-release after. But the loose, hastily-written plot will surely cause your discontent, and we will immediately have a great desire to correct something and rewrite it, and this usually does not end well with anything. In the end, players become confused with the story.

We decided to get rid of puzzles (this isn’t our strong side, and we don’t know why we even started this). Instead, we will concentrate on in-game riddles and simple ciphers, the solution of which will depend solely on your attentiveness. There will be plot riddles - they can be missed if you are completely focused on the main story and the lore - and there will be side and optional riddles that open the ways to secret branches.
(For us, it was a big surprise that many people did not find cookie in the game. We can only advise you to look more closely at locations and do not forget to go back to where you were already – something may suddenly change! In the full version of the game, we plan to revitalize the environment, so it will react to your actions and change during the plot, so don’t miss it :>)

Of course, there is a great risk to raise the bar once again and improve the game ONCE AGAIN - for example, to make more background animations and etc, etc, but then the game will be done in many years only. We are grateful to people for their feedback on the new demo, as well as their wishes, which help the game to develop. Unfortunately, we can not fulfil all the wishes, so we are only working with things people mention the most, like: mark the scanned tags in the locations, loop the background music, increase the speed of scrolling in the panoramas.

The next approximate release date is October 2018.
Also we were going to shorten the first episode a little to speed up the work. Accordingly, the price for it, too, will be less, and it will cost somewhere around 200 rubles (4-5 dollars).

DEMO 2.0 released

Hello!
We are pleased to announce that the demo 2.0 is finished. We put everything together and added a lot of new, beautiful and interesting things (although something we have still reserved for the full version of the game).

  • The main innovation: inventory. Now you can take items from your inventory into your hand, use them, show them to characters and apply them.

  • The next thing you will definitely like: we have extended the story in the demo. Now you will find out what your decision will lead to in the Veglamb line. Cool? Cool.

  • We added three new locations, and the Hill camp definitely became bigger. They locations play their roles in the full version of the game, but for now you can walk in, look around and even meet someone new.

  • It seems that you have something new in Mindscape! Namely: the upgraded design and one new and very important article. Or not only one.

  • The first location is completely redrawn, and the second is upgrated and expanded.

About This Game

Crown of Leaves is a visual, non-linear fantasy novel about mysticism, riddles, constellations, anthro beings, beasts, and ghosts!

Plot

Roui, a resilient city dandy, a decipherer, a half-educated jeweler and the author of scientific magic articles, was met with a colossal failure and must return to his gypsy homeland: Latori. Ciphers aren't a thing here, and local shoddy mystical beliefs are really irritating and dejecting to Roui. He dreams to return to his old life... But how can it be possible if you have no money? In search of quick earnings, Roui has picked up his old jewelry tools once more and seeks out customers himself. Roui’s latest customer has charged him with a task to make a bracelet from a special wood for his bride – due within a month! But, as soon as Roui gets to work, strange and unpleasant things start to appear. Which, due to the superstitions of the local people, became much more horrific and absurd than they actually are. Roui apparently isn't meant to finish the work on the bracelet... because it was stolen! An unexpected helper says that the bracelet was taken by the legendary Latorian spirit - the Mad Rook. Is the Rook real or is it just her sick imagination? Roui has no time to figure out the details - he has to believe the helper and start looking for the bracelet as soon as possible, all while incidentally deciphering the mysterious cryptograms he'll be facing along the way.
Will Roui succeed and get the bracelet back? And what's waiting for him at the end of his long and full of mystical riddles journey?

Setting

Where is it set?
The setting is a fictional world called Shang-La, a world of mixed cultures and eras, and home to various strange creatures. This is a place of old magic and new ideas, where science works together with mysticism. You can find glasses and phones, electricity and radio here, but no guns or television. The inhabitants of this world still fight with swords. The continent they live in is surrounded by the boundless ocean. The Sun and the Moon take turns alternating in the sky, and the stars are made of metal and hiding tons of secrets in them.


Who are the Sahash?
Sahash are the second intelligent race in Shang-La, alongside humans. They are divided into five nations, differing from each other by their physicality, shape of their horns, and muzzles. Every nation has its own unique traditions and culture: ranging from habits, religion, law, and even tastes in fashion and food.
Despite the complicated relationships between these ethnic groups of Sahash, as a whole they get along with humankind, and even try to emulate them in spite of their more animalistic nature.
