What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Parkasaurus is the game we always wanted to make, and while we love the current direction, having a Parkasaurus community to help us out would be even better. The two of us have so many ideas still to implement and would love the support of fellow Parkasaurus Warriors to help us decide what to work on next.

We desperately are going to need YOU to be a Parkasaurus Warrior! Here's how:

  • Be brave enough to support our Early Access release this spring

  • Add us to your wishlist - this helps so much

  • Tweet about us, or to us, or just talk about us

  • Tell your friends and family to be Parkasaurus Warriors or follow us on any social media

  • Visit your local MUSEUM, or ZOO, or ANIMAL SHELTER

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our best calculation is that we will be in Early Access for about 6-8 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Parkasaurus will be the ultimate dino park simulator. Broadly speaking there will be:

    Exhibit Design:

Each dinosaur requires a unique biosphere - the shape of exhibit, materials used, ecology, plants, elevation and humidity all make a difference

    Park Creation and Management:

Wisely spend resources to build the ultimate Dino Park and turn a profit to ensure future stability

    Guest Monetization:

By reading reviews and observing your guests, fine tune your parks flow and arrangement to maximize happiness

    Employee Management:

Level up rookie hires or bring on established veterans to help run your park smoothly, assign tasks and more

    Time Travel for Dinos Eggs:

Go back in time to retrieve from a huge list the hottest (and oldest) Dino Eggs

    Chaotic Dino Escapes:

Calmly manage unexpected disasters dino related or not! Includes various first person tactics to capture your Dino

    Year Round Challenges:

Manage unexpected weather disasters and the expected demands of each season

    Advanced weather system

    Beautiful shaders & graphic optimization

    Achievements

    Cloud Save

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently Parkasaurus has entered the last phase of a pre-alpha version of development. Our first pass features seen below have all been implemented. Of course this means the Early Access version will most likely contain: Bugs, Crashes, Lost Save Files and Frustration! We personally promise you to try our best to avoid all of those things. BUT, we think you'd love the opportunity to be one of the first brave Parkasaurus Warriors. If you want a polished version of the game, please wait for when we exit Early Access. The Early Access version of the game will contain:

  • Be one of the first Parkasaurus Warriors and our eternal love and thanks
  • Opportunity decide the direction of the ultimate Dino zoo management simulation
  • Live the life of a zoo park manager, creating your very own Dino Zoo from scratch
  • Create specialized Exhibits by modifying humidity, terrain heights, plant composition and more
  • Balance a budget and make money!
  • Hire employees, choose their tasks
  • Time Travel for Dinos Eggs
  • Chaotic Dino Escapes and Destruction
  • Save / Load system
  • Basic weather system
  • Store perk system to boost your guests
  • Raise dinos from egg to giants
  • A lot more

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are still figuring out what the launch price is going to be, and our target price will hopefully be a fair reflection of what we think the game is worth. With that said, we will 100% respect the dollars spent by our earliest supporters; and the base game price would only increase after Early Access. It upsets us personally as customers when we pay full price for a game as an early supporter only to have it go on sale shortly after.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The two of us that make up WashBear Studio will be having conversations with our community through many different ways; forums, twitter, Instagram, Facebook and our blog, among just a few. Since our game is a complex zoo simulation it will be imperative for us to hear feedback from our players about all the weird economy mishaps they discover. When we're ready to add more features we'll ask the community what they'd want to see, or what aspects of the current game they think we should expand upon.

Parkasaurus Enters Early Access Today!

Parkasaurus Enters Early Access Today!

Hi Dino friends! The time has come for Parkasaurus to enter Early Access.

First off the two of us who make up the Parkasaurus team want to thank everyone who playtested, gave us feedback, told their friends or forums about us, or just hung out in Discord and was awesome. Thanks. This has been a scary adventure which all of you made much easier. Now we begin the next phase!

We hope the Parkasaurus family gets bigger today, and with that comes a new group of people to help choose the direction of where we go. Yes – the next few weeks will likely be fixing terrible bugs and game balancing, but it also will be an opportunity to hear feedback from everyone and update our roadmap. Early Access support is crucial for a 2 person team like ours, and, we can’t thank you enough.

Not to stray too far from our usual updates, I just wanted to provide a little background to Parkasaurus and then some fun stuff.

The Origin of Parkasaurus
We thought it would be fun to share the origin of how we came to start making Parkasaurus. Although the game nods to previous games before it, the impetuous came from a handmade game design doc in the form of a colorful binder that is called DinoGame, with sparkles and all. DinoBook was split by tabs into categories, detailing how a dino tycoon sim game could work. Well – thanks to one of our wives, we fell in love with the idea of DinoGame and ran with it.

Now a little fun:
  • Wandering your park at night
  • No You Clean the Toilet
  • Food Court Design
  • Dinos with Style

Wandering your park at night
Spending the entire Parkasaurus day can sometimes be stressful, especially if you get a breakout. I like to take the time and use the free cam to enjoy the cool views at night.

No You Clean the Toilet
In Parkasaurus the employees automatically will try to find tasks to do around the park. You can toggle them to just do one task if you want (eg. There is a ton of garbage and you want your janitor on ultra clean-up duty). We also let you assign directly in game different tasks for your employees by using the right mouse button.

Food Court Design
There is a lot of emphasis on Exhibit Design in Parkasaurus, and for good reason. Happy Dinos mean more money to expand your park. But it also is fun to take your time and plan how you’ll create little food courts around your park.

Dinos with Style
Perhaps most importantly in Parkasaurus you’ll need to equip your dinos to look good. Your dino best friends won’t be able to wear accessories until they become adults; so that gives you plenty of time to research and stock up on the coolest items in town.

Parkasaurus has arrived
The two of us are trying our hardest to get the Parkasaurus word out to the interwebz, and we see all of you helping out! Keep it up! Pass on the word! Being a Parkasaurus Advocate is such a big help to us. Thanks. xoxo

Parkasaurus Update #020 : Steggos Coming Home

Parkasaurus Update #020 : Steggos Coming Home

We sent our Steggos out into the wild and they’ve found their way back. That’s an analogy for life, and also an analogy for sending out the Parkasaurus tutorial for a little feedback playtesting. At the moment we’re heavily looking at the game after the tutorial, so days 7+ of in-world time. We see so many different directions Parkasaurus can take and look forward to having people help out with those decisions.

And of course, as a reminder in 2 weeks, we’re releasing into Early Access on September 25th (eep!). Thanks to everyone who has been helping spread the news about Parkasaurus and getting our Wishlist numbers up!

Update 020 Topics
  • Expanding the Family
  • Steggos Coming Home
  • Watching the Hatch
  • Valley o’ Dinos

Expanding the Family
The size requirements for each exhibit is dependent on the number of dinosaurs that are living there. If you add a new baby to your dino family you’ll need to increase the exhibit size to keep everyone happy. The easiest way to accomplish this is to add the extension fence first then remove the dividing portion (otherwise guests might get snacked on). The best part though is watching the baby & parent bonding at the end. :)

Steggos Coming Home
What can I say? Sometimes I find it fun to just create a massive Steggo herd to come storming out of the mountains onto our poor little food court village.

Watching the Hatch
Although not necessary I like to make an elevated enclosure around a hatching dino egg – like this little Tric. Oh, and to place down a front row seat for a perfect view. I'm very excited to see what other ideas people come up with in the game.

Valley o’ Dinos
We have a random terrain generation tool for the game that we will likely include for Early Access but keep it as an experimental feature until we have more time to smooth out the kinks. If people really find this fun we also can start to integrate it more into the game. I find the feature really useful for creating fun scenes like my Valley o’ Dinos.

Parkasaurus only happens because of your help
The two of us are trying our hardest to get the Parkasaurus word out to the interwebz, and we see all of you helping out! Keep it up! Pass on the word! Tell your neighbour to Wishlist us, get your sister to follow us on Twitter or get your co-worker to post about us on reddit or your school forums. Being a Parkasaurus Advocate is such a big help to us. Thanks. xoxo
