What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Parkasaurus is the game we always wanted to make, and while we love the current direction, having a Parkasaurus community to help us out would be even better. The two of us have so many ideas still to implement and would love the support of fellow Parkasaurus Warriors to help us decide what to work on next.

We desperately are going to need YOU to be a Parkasaurus Warrior! Here's how:

  • Be brave enough to support our Early Access release this spring

  • Add us to your wishlist - this helps so much

  • Tweet about us, or to us, or just talk about us

  • Tell your friends and family to be Parkasaurus Warriors or follow us on any social media

  • Visit your local MUSEUM, or ZOO, or ANIMAL SHELTER

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our best calculation is that we will be in Early Access for about 6-8 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Parkasaurus will be the ultimate dino park simulator. Broadly speaking there will be:

    Exhibit Design:

Each dinosaur requires a unique biosphere - the shape of exhibit, materials used, ecology, plants, elevation and humidity all make a difference

    Park Creation and Management:

Wisely spend resources to build the ultimate Dino Park and turn a profit to ensure future stability

    Guest Monetization:

By reading reviews and observing your guests, fine tune your parks flow and arrangement to maximize happiness

    Employee Management:

Level up rookie hires or bring on established veterans to help run your park smoothly, assign tasks and more

    Time Travel for Dinos Eggs:

Go back in time to retrieve from a huge list the hottest (and oldest) Dino Eggs

    Chaotic Dino Escapes:

Calmly manage unexpected disasters dino related or not! Includes various first person tactics to capture your Dino

    Year Round Challenges:

Manage unexpected weather disasters and the expected demands of each season

    Advanced weather system

    Beautiful shaders & graphic optimization

    Achievements

    Cloud Save

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently Parkasaurus has entered the last phase of a pre-alpha version of development. Our first pass features seen below have all been implemented. Of course this means the Early Access version will most likely contain: Bugs, Crashes, Lost Save Files and Frustration! We personally promise you to try our best to avoid all of those things. BUT, we think you'd love the opportunity to be one of the first brave Parkasaurus Warriors. If you want a polished version of the game, please wait for when we exit Early Access. The Early Access version of the game will contain:

  • Be one of the first Parkasaurus Warriors and our eternal love and thanks
  • Opportunity decide the direction of the ultimate Dino zoo management simulation
  • Live the life of a zoo park manager, creating your very own Dino Zoo from scratch
  • Create specialized Exhibits by modifying humidity, terrain heights, plant composition and more
  • Balance a budget, take out loans, make money!
  • Hire employees, choose their tasks
  • Time Travel for Dinos Eggs
  • Chaotic Dino Escapes and first person capturing
  • Save / Load system
  • Basic weather system
  • A lot more

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are still figuring out what the launch price is going to be, and our target price will hopefully be a fair reflection of what we think the game is worth. With that said, we will 100% respect the dollars spent by our earliest supporters; and the base game price would only increase after Early Access. It upsets us personally as customers when we pay full price for a game as an early supporter only to have it go on sale shortly after.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The two of us that make up WashBear Studio will be having conversations with our community through many different ways; forums, twitter, Instagram, Facebook and our blog, among just a few. Since our game is a complex zoo simulation it will be imperative for us to hear feedback from our players about all the weird economy mishaps they discover. When we're ready to add more features we'll ask the community what they'd want to see, or what aspects of the current game they think we should expand upon.

Ohhh behave – Dinosaur A.I.

Parkasaurus Update #016 : Ohhh behave – Dinosaur A.I.

Recently we’ve been working on how your dinos behave and co-exist with each other in the park. Our first step was to design how a single dino experiences the world by itself, and now we’re throwing all the dinos together. This results in a bunch of unexpected results. Luckily, we’ve implemented a utility AI that solves many of the problems and results in cool emergent gameplay.

Update 016 Topics
  • “Are you my mom?”
  • Inter-species exhibits
  • Dino mindfulness
  • Camera fixes and don’t forget the fun

“Are you my mom?”
Turns out Milo the baby Triceratops was quick to accept Daisy as his mom. In Parkasaurus you now can have unconventional family structures; a newly hatched baby dino usually latches on to the first adult dino they meet; even if a different species.

Inter-species exhibits
Experimentation into inter species exhibits has resulted in many questions, for example, what if the species desire different biomes? Does this mean it is possible to have 2 biomes in a single exhibit? If so how does the system decide the amounts of a biome in an exhibit when more than one exists? <brain explodes>.

Dino mindfulness
Sometimes in the crazy world of running the ultimate dino best friend theme park, it's good for your sanity to take a moment when the park is closing to enjoy the beauty you've designed with your bare (digital) hands.

Camera fixes and don’t forget the fun
The two of us are furiously getting Parkasaurus ready for Early Access, and on occasion forget to have the goofs that are so important to our game (your game and mine). Therefore I like to take some time to create little exhibits and plop some accessories on our dinos, so, here’s Marvis wearing a fedora.

How you can help!
The two of us are trying our hardest to get the Parkasaurus word out to the interwebz, and we see all of you helping out! Keep it up! Tell your neighbour to Wishlist us, get your sister to follow us on Twitter or get your co-worker to post about us on reddit or your school forums. Being a Parkasaurus Advocate is such a big help to us. Thanks. xoxo

Parkasaurus Update #015 : Everybody needs a little private time

Parkasaurus Update #015 : Everybody needs a little private time

Lot’s to share for this Parkasaurus Update. In addition to improvements to the game, we’re also starting to tie in all the non-gameplay tasks that are really important like translations and reaching out to people who might be interested in previewing the game. There have been a few requests for a roadmap so I’d like to get that up for everybody sometime this week. Alright, let’s get to it:

Update 015 Topics

  • A Little Privacy Please
  • Late Night Dino Gazing
  • Employee Micro-managing
  • Seasons are back in style!

A Little Privacy Please
Our continuing series that dives a little deeper into a few of the mechanics in Parkasaurus this week covers the Privacy System. This is one of the mechanics we think really makes Parkasaurus unique from the other dino park simulators and allows people who love to design a chance to be really creative with both form and function.

Late Night Dino Gazing
As we start to get closer to an Early Access release we’ve been going back over some of our original features to figure out which ones we want available for day 1 EA, and which ones we need to receive additional feedback from the community about. The general consensus from our Discord channel has been night lights are awesome – so we had to do a little work to get our night lights functioning again with our new shader system.

Employee Micro-managing
The employees in Parkasaurus automatically find appropriate tasks in the park to do based on a scoring system; this consists of distance to the tasks, dire need of the task to be done, assigned priority, etc. Sometimes though you might see an overflowing garbage can that you just need to get cleaned; so, we added the feature to directly assign tasks to your employees in the world.

Seasons are back in style!
Autumn is here. Well, more is the case the two of us have been fixing free cam bugs. This includes inspecting all our seasons using the free cam. My favorite season currently in the game is autumn but I must say winter is right up there.

Parkasaurus Warriors!
The two of us are trying our hardest to get the Parkasaurus word out to the interwebz, and we see all of you helping out! Keep it up! Tell your neighbour to Wishlist us, get your boyfriend to follow us on Twitter or get your boss to post about us on reddit or your company forums. Being a

About This Game

Parkasaurus challenges the player to plan, design and construct fabulous exhibits that maximize both the happiness of their Dinos, and the park guests’ satisfaction and willingness to spend money! Starting with only a dream and an abandoned park the player will discover ground breaking technologies, new attractions and a special bond with each of their Dinos, all captured in stunningly beautiful modernized 3D flat design graphics.

In Parkasaurus if you care for your dinos, discover new technologies then your park will thrive.

    Exhibit Design:

Design success - each dinosaur requires a unique biosphere, which means the shape of exhibit, materials used, ecology, plants, elevation and humidity all play a key role in whether the Dinos, and the park, thrive...or become extinct.

    Park Creation and Management:

Wisely spend resources to build the ultimate Dino Park and turn a profit to ensure future stability.

    Guest Monetization:

By reading reviews and observing your guests, fine tune the flow and arrangement of your park to maximize the happiness of guests and Dinos alike.

    Employee Management:

Level up rookie hires, or bring on established veterans, to help run your park smoothly and efficiently.

    Time Travel for Dinos Eggs:

Go back in time to retrieve the hottest (and oldest) Dino Eggs.

    Chaotic Dino Escapes:

Switch into first person view to handle any Dino rampages quickly and with care, before disaster strikes.

    Year Round Challenges:

Manage unexpected weather catastrophes, as well as the expected diverse demands each season brings.

Currently Parkasaurus is in an early stage of development although a lot has been done! Out plan is to make Parkasaurus available this spring for those interested in forging the direction of this game. We have so many ideas still to do and would love the support of a Parkasaurus community to help us decide what to work on next.

  • Tweet about us, or to us, or just talk about us
